We needed help with PR to promote our company and engage with the public.

(W)right On Communications provided PR services for our company. The team helped us with podcasts and press releases and did a lot of community engagement for our projects. (W)right On Communications also helped us with our website.

We had to get public approvals on many of our projects, so we had to go to community planning meetings and design review board meetings where the public was present and did a presentation. The team helped a lot with those.

We had an in-person meeting at (W)right On Communications' office. They showed a lot of hospitality to us and asked many questions to understand our business and our needs to customize their services for us.

(W)right On Communications was a referral. We did initial introductions and interviews with different agencies, and they stood out as the most knowledgeable and recognized team in the area.

We worked with (W)right On Communications' owners, Julie and Grant, and two VPs, Larry and David.

We spent $250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January 2023 to April 2025. We let them know we wouldn't need them anymore in February 2025, and they continued our contract until today.

The feedback was positive, and we gained several approvals thanks to (W)right On Communications' presentations and approach to community engagement. The team exceeded our expectations.

(W)right On Communications delivered the work on time and within budget and communicated excellently with us. We mainly used emails and Microsoft Teams calls to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

(W)right On Communications' project management was on point. They were always on or ahead of schedule and within budget. The team's knowledge of the local San Diego community and all the players involved in this space was impeccable. Their overall approach was always spectacular and on point. (W)right On Communications was great to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I always try to provide constructive criticism, but I can't find anything off the top of my head. We had no complaints.

• During our tenure together, the WOC team secured many high-impact stories, including a national CBS News segment that featured the San Diego and Tijuana Youth orchestras coming together to play an original composition that celebrates our bi-national region.

Their team secured several high-impact media placements, notably a compelling CBS News segment featuring the San Diego and Tijuana Youth Orchestras, which perfectly captured the bi-national spirit of WDC 2024. Additionally, they negotiated the largest media sponsorship package with the San Diego Union-Tribune under its new ownership, significantly amplifying the program's visibility.

Through their efforts, (W)right On also secured the largest media sponsorship package under the San Diego Union Tribune's new ownership on behalf of WDC 2024.
They also brought the CEO of one of San Diego’s most powerful business organizations to welcome attendees to a major design conference that WDC 2024 attracted to San Diego.
Our executive team appreciated how (W)right On navigated our challenges and really invested themselves in the WDC 2024 ethos and activities. Their infectious passion was felt throughout our organization.
As a client partner, WDC 2024 needed an agency team that we could trust to move fast, communicate well and represent our brand to partners and stakeholders. At the end of the day, (W)right On delivered on all of those fronts.

If there’s an area for potential improvement, it might be incorporating more frequent and detailed reporting throughout the engagement. While the outcomes were impressive, a regular cadence of data-driven updates could have provided additional insights into the progress and effectiveness of our efforts.

That said, their flexibility and dedication were exceptional, and we greatly valued their partnership.

I’m the owner of MSK Ventures, a small consulting firm that provides business development and PR services.

What challenge were you trying to address with (W)right On Communications?

(W)right On Communications did media outreach to Indian tribes on a public education and information project for a third-party customer. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

(W)right On Communications has created a marketing plan as part of a grant-funded business plan for my Indian customer’s facilities and businesses. The plan has to do with how we promote organic foods produced on the tribal farm, vacation rental facilities, and special events. Essentially, the project revolves around agritourism.

The team is also producing a video funded under a different grant. This part includes social media, video marketing, and earned media. They’ve learned what we want to accomplish with the video and developed a storyboard. After reviewing and approving the storyboard, we’ve worked with them to identify locations where we can shoot. We also help them manage the actual video shoot. 

Meanwhile, we’ve focused on Facebook and Instagram for our social media marketing campaign. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 4–5 teammates from (W)right On Communications, including Julie (President & Founder), Larry (VP), and Felicia (AVP Creative Services). 

How did you come to work with (W)right On Communications?

I searched online for companies with experience in agritourism marketing in San Diego, and (W)right On Communications was one of the 2–3 companies that popped up. They seemed to be the best qualified for what we needed.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $70,000–$80,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement started in March 2022, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

(W)right On Communications’ work has been great. The marketing plan has been excellent, and we’ve secured additional grant funding from another federal agency on the strength of that plan. Moreover, the team is highly capable of organizing a video shoot. We haven’t seen the final product yet because they’re still doing postproduction, but their resources are efficient and well-organized.

How did (W)right On Communications perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re always responsive and great at working within our available budget — they’re on point and on time. In terms of tools, they’ve suggested using an app, but I have an aversion to those apps. I tend to circumvent them and email the team directly when I want something.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They work hard to give us what we want within our budget.

No, there aren’t any.

Be clear about what you want — if you give them good direction, they’ll create a plan and a sensible approach for what you want.
