We wanted to create a travel mobile application to guide tourists in Armenia and Armenian communities worldwide.

They developed an iOS and Android application from scratch. In addition to highlighting important locations to Armenian culture, diaspora representatives can connect with each other through the app.

They are quite a creative team. They have solved numerous technical tasks and, at each point of our communication, they tried to bring up the right solution.

Everything was perfect. They are very flexible and they’ve worked overtime several times, which has been helpful when we’ve had tight deadlines.

ADG Group is one of the biggest retail center developers in Moscow. I’m the head of digital marketing.

What challenge were you trying to address with Workin Geeks?

We were building a digital infrastructure, which would include a CRM, a CMS, and mobile apps, and we needed good developers in our market to help us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Workin Geeks developed an iOS and Android app for us, which integrates with our CRM and CMS. The first version was done in 2019, as an MVP for one commercial center. We’ve created a redesigned and restructured version in 2020, which was launched in all 38 centers.

The app is a communication channel between us and our customers. It provides information about our centers’ shops, restaurants, and cinemas. Customers can scan QR codes on checks in order to collect points that can be spent in the centers.

We’re also trying to grow communities around the 38 centers, and the app has functionalities for sharing experiences and thoughts. During the pandemic, we created functionality for users to provide and ask for services such as buying groceries or walking a dog in the park.

Right now, we’re working on a system for buying tickets and making restaurant reservations. We also have an integration with an assistant tool from Yandex, similar to Siri and Alexa. It’s a kind of concierge chatbot for making bookings and finding information. Workin Geeks also implemented some analytics into the app.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with a team lead and a product lead, and I’ve only talked to the developers a few times.

It was through a recommendation.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost so far is 6 million RUB (approximately $75,000–$100,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Workin Geeks in April 2019, and the app was launched to the stores in June 2020. The collaboration is ongoing. We’ve made a lot of changes on the digital front after the pandemic, and we’re now thinking of implementing some kind of e-shop into the app.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Workin Geeks is a young team, and they have very interesting ideas in terms of UI and customer journeys. They’ve been very helpful in the creation of the app. They have interesting ideas on the architecture of the code and the app itself.

I’ve worked with a lot of development teams. It’s always important to have a good quality of code, and Workin Geeks has it. We have around 35,000 downloads right now, and 27,000 active users, with an even split between iOS and Android.

How did Workin Geeks perform from a project management standpoint?

They deliver on time. If they tell us that something will be done next week, it will, and that’s very important in our market. We have groups on Asana, Telegram, and WhatsApp, and we have weekly scrum meetings. We use also Jira for roadmaps and status updates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They worked on weekends during upcoming launches, and I really appreciate what they’ve done for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I have nothing bad to say about them.

I advise clients to believe and trust Workin Geeks. Discuss everything you need. The team has a lot of experience, and they’ll find a solution.

We needed someone to develop a mobile app for iOS and Android that worked with our high-speed operations.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re developing our iOS and Android app from scratch. It’s our first attempt to do a mobile application. The solution is a mobile app for our website that includes crypto wallets, crypto broker exchange clients, and other services that are now being created within our company.

We work with two Android developers, an Android tech lead, two iOS developers, and a product manager.

Our CTO found them through his network. We chose them after we went through the process of giving technical specifications to different companies. We liked Workin Geeks because they asked various smart questions. They showed us that if our application was created as we described it, it wouldn’t pass the review in the App Store and Google Play. They told us that during the first session when we asked them to provide their price and process of development.

We started working together in July 202, and the collaboration is ongoing.

The app isn’t complete, but it looks very good. We’re planning to continue working with them.

They deliver on time, without getting stuck on any tasks. If they have questions, they ask. They often have answers to questions we didn’t actually ask. It’s really nice. They didn’t break any deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The best part is their level of involvement in the project. We see they’re really involved in our project. They find multiple ways to enhance their approach to improve the application. They come with comments on questionable design choices. Their performance is impressive as well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At first, testing wasn’t good enough but it’s not a problem anymore. We already discussed it with them, and testing is very good now.

If you consider working with them, you should know that they can develop really complex applications in a really short time with many changes in the process of development.

I am the CPO and we sell half of the cinema tickets in Russia. Some of them are sold through our mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms, some through web and integrations.

We analyzed the market for suitable agencies and liked their pricing and design.

Once we selected the company we had several meetings about the goals, objectives, and potential future work after the first stable version. Within the first month, we have agreed on the concept and two weeks with our marketing and customers and we finalize design prototypes based on developed components. The next two months was delivery sprints aimed to launch the first version with the key function of the movie ticket seller. After the launch, we have found a considerable amount of hypotheses and have decided the check them with the vendor, part of these hypotheses we are still checking

The team that worked with us from their side had 2 Android developers, 2 iOS developers, and a product manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app was completely redesigned and it looks fresh now. We also added some essential features but we didn’t get to test the metrics yet.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Most of the project after the technical specification composition was organized by them only. They also helped us with features and design ideas, especially when lockdown happened.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their technical level is the most impressive I think. Product management skills are also helpful.

They exceeded our expectations of what is possible to achieve so we can’t think of any areas for improvement.

We needed to develop a set of applications with a similar structure, so most of the code would be reused across them. We hired Workin Geeks to create the mobile apps.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Workin Geeks was responsible for the mobile part of the software, developing Android and iOS applications for us. We have a platform with different content, and all the mobile apps are connected to it. We can quickly develop new mobile apps for clients.

They also helped us brainstorm feature ideas, and they created a software development kit (SDK) for us. They’ve ensured we can reuse the structure of the mobile apps, which is very important for us.

They’ve delivered consistent results. I’m very pleased with their work and style.

They’ve always managed to meet deadlines, which is very important for us. We’ve needed them to work over weekends or deliver things extremely fast, and they’ve always done it. They’re responsive to our feedback and they react very fast to changes.

We have some important clients who may not realize how hard it is to develop certain features in a very short time. Workin Geeks can work overtime to meet deadlines so we haven’t had any problems with our clients.

I’m a product owner for a company that works with digital products. I’m involved in a product that gives an entrepreneur access to sales statistics. Besides having this product on a website, we also have a mobile app for Android and iOS.

We had to revive our mobile application. We saw an organic interest in using the app from our clients. We decided to change the app's design to be more appealing and to better serve our customers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Workin Geeks works on development projects. Their team inherited code from previous developers. They continue to write code for the iOS version and the Android version of the app. They also helped us develop the software required to monitor the application and create analytics. They provided suggestions for specific actions to take on how to install the software and make it function.

At one point, we worked with three developers but it’s two developers now.

My colleague found Working Geeks and established communication with them, so I inherited the contract.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We measure their performance based on the number of issues that are returned from QA and need to be reiterated. We also look at metrics related to how the application operates once it's released. With their help, we reduced the number of crashes on the applications. From that aspect, we were able to significantly improve both the performance of the app and its durability in terms of the crashes.

How did Workin Geeks perform from a project management standpoint?

The head of their team approached us with suggestions for handling communications better. It was nice that they were proactive in suggesting ways that we could do better between the teams. Their team also welcomed and accepted our suggestions. We have a mutually respectful, professional relationship. They listen to constructive feedback and respond to it positively.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re interested in the nature of the product and contributing to it as much as they can. They don’t just take work and write code. They ask about specific functionalities that we’re developing and make suggestions. Their team’s interested in learning about our product and understanding the end user.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We haven’t implemented a thorough UIkit, which would’ve helped them to do their work easier, faster, and with fewer issues. We’ve had instances when we’ve done a couple more iterations on designs and developments than we would’ve liked. That’s partly on us because we weren’t able to supply them with specific design instructions. Their team could ask more questions about what we meant rather than take a guess. We’ve spoken with them about this and I’ve seen them make progress.

No, they’re a group of dedicated people who like to work on interesting products.

Digital Medical Card allows user to upload a few hundred types of medical docs to our secured storage for medical files. Project is only delivered to our mobile apps.
