How quick they learn is impressive.  Often times it takes months for a consultant to get up to speed on the details and then synthesize and drive to the output.  We put Woden on a tight schedule, and they never pushed back or fell behind.  This is unique having worked with hundreds of consultants over the years it is refreshing to know Woden can keep up with a fast-paced environment.

It's early in our journey but at this point, I have little critisim.

We have been lost, stuck in the status quo.  Our company is known, but not known.  We have a variety of older and new emloyees, neither of whom can articulate consistently who we are and what we do.  To some, we sell commodities, to others we well solutions, to others we quote what people ask us for.

We needed help building our story.  Developing our mission, our vision, or values - an overall coporate identity.  We needed a simple, yet cohesive way to communicate and live our new vision throughout the company while articulating it to the market.

They then crafted our brand story and provided materials and support as we (continue to) work on sales strategies along with producing marketing materials.

This project is ongoing. Currently we are working on updating our marketing materials, which will then be reviewed by Woden. We are also updating our website to align with the brand strategy offered by Woden and the Woden team is coaching our sales staff to embody the new brand.

With all the eduction regarding Woden's process... it felt like maybe they were giving away the secret sauce. If they show everyone all of the steps for creating their materials, wouldn't anyone be able to do it? The end result has showed us that this team is something truly special. They identified our place in the market that we had completely missed. They crafted the language of our story - enabling us to revise our marketing materials and empower our sales team.

The recommendations that I have should be considered as minor as they are intended. 

1. The education process (where Woden took us through the Hero's Journey) needed to be edited down to take less time... as our teams understood it quickly. 
2. Our sales and Marketing folks talk a lot and can steer things away from the point. Having a clear agenda prior to coaching or longer meetings as well as clear assignments so that we can make the best use of time.

Ed is extremely knowlegable and well versed in myriad of various business and markets.  Alicia was exteremly organized, communicative and a quick study in learning the nuances of our business, resulting in  clear and insightful narratives,messaging and reccomedations.  This was a very effecient process and no wasted time on areas/pathways that were not important to the goal of the project.

The team Ed has put together were well trained, knowlegeable ,effecient and demonstated excellent communication skills-verbally and writtent. All reccomendations were well received, useful and impactful. No time wasted spent trying to upsale or tooting their horn and very sincere. They made us feel like we are the most important client they have and all efforts were devoted to accomplishing and delivering on their promise/proposal unlike most large consulting firms.

Honestly no.  Their team and our project leader were all down to earth, willing to learn our business and offered good solid useable advice.  Delivered as promised!

Woden performed market research on our company, our product and completed various interviews with customers and partners. Once they learned about our company, they produced 3 different deliverables, each one building on the previous. The first was a StoryKernal which walks a customer (the hero) through the story we are facing in construction. It helped tie values and actions into a story. The second deliverable was called the StorySeminar. In this, they provided us with mission statements, vision, core pillars and beliefs, and help identify our brand even further than we had it. The third deliverable is called the StoryGuide which provides detailed phrasing and approaches for different customers along the way of the journey and sell process, providing copy and actions to help engage potential customers.

For each deliverable Woden provided, we were able to see their understanding of our company, what we do, what our culture is, and what our current brand is in the market. The confidence I had for them was strengthed each time they produced a delivery because it showed they understood the goal.

Items were delivered on time and were very professional. If anything, they were waiting on me for some of the time. They were very responsive with what they needed from me and also whenever I had questions, they were quick to reply or set up a call. Without much current marketing material we could provide them with, they did great with what we had and were able to inspire more.

I've not spoken with many companies like this, but their whole company idea about creating stories to capture audiences is very exciting to me, and their ability to adapt and learn our world so quickly was very impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Woden could have done differently?

I feel like it did take some time to get to the heart of our goals, but I don't think it could have been done differently. For them to fully understand our business and our model, it does take time. If it were shorter, it probably would not be as informative and more importantly, not as genuine. 

Not being in the marketing world, some of the wording and messaging was over my head, so I was slow to understand some of the concepts initially.

From that they were able to create brand pillars that they presented to senior management and our sales force. The final deliverable included tangible ways we could deploy the content.

We expect to see an increase in top of funnel activities, including discovery calls and content engagement. We are still too early for that.

Woden is very good at storytelling and gave us a lot to work with. The final deliverable is a written guide, which was harder to grasp than the story and presentation style of earlier milestones. Different ways of learning, I believe.

We engaged Woden to craft a comprehensive strategic narrative for RePath, aimed at helping our team align around a singular brand story and executed on it across all touchpoints. The scope included deep discovery, workshops, and strategic consultation to ensure our messaging resonated with both internal teams and external audiences.

Key deliverables included:

 • StoryKernel – a clear and compelling strategic narrative that positions RePath as essential to the future of criminal justice reform through proactive, data-driven transformation.

 • StoryGuide – a tactical blueprint for applying the narrative across our sales funnel, marketing channels, and customer experience; complete with pitches, buyer personas, objections and calls-to-action, product messaging, and more.

 • Brand Messaging Assets – including elevator pitches, origin story, positioning statement, differentiators, customer stories, and guidelines for internal and external brand voice.

 • StorySeminar – a live collaborative session to align our team around the narrative and ensure buy-in from key stakeholders.  This was probably the most helpful element to bring home the key aspects of the partnership.

This work has helped us align internally on our value proposition, position, and narrative.

The Woden engagement delivered measurable improvements in both internal alignment and external engagement:

• Improved message clarity and consistency across our sales, marketing, and customer success teams—creating a shared language and positioning that everyone now uses to communicate our value.
• Acceleration of our sales cycle through the adoption of targeted messaging, objection handling, and storytelling techniques from the StoryGuide—leading to more effective early-stage conversations and increased movement through the funnel.
• Increased engagement with marketing content—we saw higher response rates to outbound emails and stronger interest in collateral that clearly communicated the value of proactive, data-driven supervision.
• Stronger customer buy-in during onboarding as we adopted the StoryKernel’s language to reinforce our brand promise and build long-term advocacy.
• Enhanced brand recognition and recall among key decision-makers, with feedback indicating our message now “cuts through” in a crowded, compliance-focused market.

The result wasn’t just a better story, it was one our whole team believes in and uses.

Overall, it was a really positive experience, and the work gave us exactly what we needed to clarify and unify our message.

One area that could have added even more value, and this may be specific to how I prefer to work, would be a brief, guided next step plan at the end of the engagement. Just a few concrete actions tied back to the original opportunities they identified would’ve helped us move into implementation more confidently.

We’re getting that now through ongoing coaching, but having it as part of the intial delivery would’ve made the handoff even stronger.
