I’m the Manager of Intelligent Automation at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, a leading Australian law firm specializing in plaintiff and social justice cases. We help individuals seek justice through class actions and legal representation, regardless of their financial means.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenges were you trying to address with Whitehot?

We wanted to build curiosity, confidence, and engagement with AI across our team. We aimed to have our team experience how quickly an idea could be turned into something tangible using AI.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Whitehot designed and facilitated a two-hour hands-on AI Build Challenge as part of our Digital & Technology Team Day. The scope covered both the preparation for the session and the facilitation on the day of the event.Whitehot worked with us beforehand to shape the workshop structure, refine the challenge, and develop the activities and supporting materials used by the teams. Their key deliverables included shaping the workshop format and challenge, providing practical guidance on using AI, facilitating the team-based build activity, coaching teams as they developed and refined their ideas, and managing the final demonstrations.A key part of the brief was making the session accessible and engaging for people with varying levels of AI experience. Rather than a presentation-heavy training session, Whitehot helped create an environment where participants could experiment, collaborate, and build something tangible within a short period of time.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We had strong participation and practical engagement. Around 40 team members worked collaboratively to develop and demonstrate AI solutions within the two-hour session. The workshop generated considerable experimentation, discussion, and curiosity around AI, regardless of participants’ prior experience.Post-event survey feedback was largely positive, reinforcing that the session was engaging, practical, and well-received by the team. The majority of respondents rated the session favorably. Participants particularly valued the hands-on format, the opportunity to experiment with AI in a practical setting, and the collaborative nature of the challenge. The feedback reinforced that the session achieved its objective of building interest, confidence, and curiosity around AI across the team.Following the session, we saw increased interest and conversation around how AI could be applied in day-to-day work. Team members were more willing to experiment with AI and explore potential use cases beyond the workshop. The session helped make AI feel more accessible and created a moment for continued experimentation and knowledge sharing across the team.

How did Whitehot perform from a project management standpoint?

Whitehot’s project management was very strong. They were organized, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the planning process. They understood our objectives, worked collaboratively with us to refine the session, and delivered everything on time. On the day of the event, the workshop was well-managed, kept to schedule, and required minimal intervention from our internal team.Our primary form of communication was in-person meetings, virtual meetings, and emails or messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What stood out most was Whitehot’s ability to make AI practical, accessible, and engaging. Rather than focusing heavily on theory, they created a hands-on experience where our teams could experiment, build, and learn by doing. Their facilitation style worked particularly well with participants who had different levels of AI experience, and they adapted well to our objectives and team environment. The combination of practical AI expertise, strong facilitation, and an engaging format was particularly valuable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There wasn’t anything significant that we felt needed to be done differently. The engagement was well-planned and delivered. If anything, having a little more time for the teams to build, experiment, and explore their ideas would have been valuable, but that was largely a constraint of the two-hour session rather than Whitehot’s delivery. Overall, they made very effective use of the time available.
