Following the guidelines of the game design document I provided, Whimsy games developed the basic art assets and game screens necessary to show the scope of the game and its potential for success. We had several questions that they answered patiently and in detail. We received the prototype shortly and asked for some changes.

Six people worked on the project including the project manager, two unity developers, two designers, and a tester. More people joined the team as per the requirements.

Whimsy Games has the ability to rapidly produce the project's prototype based on the initial input of the client. The quality of the final product and its adherence to the client's specifications are excellent.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

While working with Whimsy Games, there was very little that seemed to need improvement. The only suggestion I could offer to future clients is to ensure that the updated versions of business plans are provided to all necessary individuals/teams to avoid schedule changes.

We hired Whimsy for preliminary prototype development with the intention of testing game mechanics and styles. At this time we are also about to move forward with some basic art provided by their team as well.

We spoke with several game development outsourcing companies and began work with 3.

Whimsy stood out for their transparency (lots of communication, flexible style of work, frequent updates and documentation), their development speed (they quickly understood our needs and were able to provide an accurate costing much faster than the other teams, and delivered on-time), and their attention to detail and customer satisfaction.

Whimsy works with us to develop playable prototypes using specs our team writes for them. They use Unity and the prototypes are playable on iOS and Android. The team is smart and has a good sense of game design - we have not fully leveraged this yet as our specs are fairly simple but I could see us working closer with them from the design-side as we move forward.

We are working with 2 engineers, a project manager, and one QA guy. One of the co-founders is also closely involved and always available to discuss changes we need made.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The prototypes are delivered quickly and they are high-quality. They follow specifications carefully as well. With any team there is always a bit of adjustment period where we learn the working styles, but Whimsy has been extremely open to feedback and quick to improve any friction points. I am extremely impressed with their speed of delivery and their transparency.

Very communicative, very transparent. We use a Slack channel to discuss project needs, and google docs to share specifications. Of the companies we spoke with, Whimsy had the best timelines as well, sometimes by a significant amount.

Their attention to customer satisfaction makes them stand out. They are transparent and committed to delivering solid products and working with clients to ensure processes are up to scratch.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Overall very happy with the team. I think clients should be aware that they will need to work hands-on in the very beginning to ensure smooth transition and full understanding of desired results, but this is true for any development company and Whimsy does better than most.

I searched one through unworkable, it was a long process as I was on a time limit and it was a full stack project. It wasn't until I came accords Denis and his team at whimsy and had a sit down chat to figure there were more the perfect for this project.

I had a plan, Wiregrass, design etc. There team communicated with me, made suggestions and helped me add things I was missing to make it a complete project. I received a working version every week until done and every change or fix that needed done wqs addressed with great communication and fixed by next day with a new build.

What was the team composition?

I spoke we Denis through the project who relayed all the information and documents back and forth. There was constant communication from the time he started until the time he went to sleep lol he takes his projects and deadlines serious and meets everyone of them.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I was quoted a minimum of 2 months for my app not including things we add to add for Apple to approve it. Whimsy made this happen in a month, flawlessly. The app is a success and still have support from then even after lunch Bug free back end and front end, great admin panel and amazing app.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Like stated before from the time he started until he went to bed there was always communication and of needed any clarification he asked so it went smoothly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Words can not say how impressed I am not only did I make a new friend and business partner he made makimg this app less stressful and accommodating. There team was always there to address anything amd provide honest feedback amd fixes. They can accommodate any level of app development.

Honestly I have worked with many people on unworkable since 2016 with 1000s spe t and over 15 projects... There is nothing they can due to get better from my point of view.

We found them through upwork.com and we worked together on a few very small projects. The level of professionalism and knowledge convinced us to hide them for bigger projects.

They received the 4 word game templates, refactored code and merged all the templates into a single one to use common items like coins, awards and progress. Additionally, they added extra functionalities like leaderboards, achievements, ads and in app purchases.

We worked with only one person responsible with all the coding.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We communicated on Skype every day. Every feedback we sent was discussed and sometimes we decided together on different features, based on the benefits those features would have to our game and potential users.

The level of professionalism was very high. They came with pretty innovative ideas on how to implement some features.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is very little they could improve. My only suggestion is they double check the feedback we send, as sometimes not all the things are done on time.

The goals were a functioning MVP of a fully on-chain mobile blockchain game. As this has not been achieved before, it can be classed as proof-of-concept R&D project.

We provided the team with a blockchain backend C# wrapper for Unity which had to be integrated and utilized with the frontend of the game. For the frontend, the team was responsible for development of game animations, GUI functionality, data processing/storage and in general the connection between blockchain backend and corresponding frontend input/output. 

One challenge here was that this blockchain approach/framework is a completely new technology which required the team to leave behind existing backend solutions and study/understand and utilize the new concept. The team showed excellent grasp of blockchain technology from the start and was able to adapt quickly to the new technology and environment.

Additionally, Whimsy Software provided us with excellent UI artists and has proven to be highly responsive to design guidance from our game designer.

The team was composed of a project manager, Unity developers and UI artists. Interaction and communication with the team was mainly handeled by the project manager.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

As this project is a proof-of-concept of a not yet achieved technological feat, it allowed us to demonstrate and showcase our technical capabilities and increased our credibility as a mobile blockchain gaming venture.

The project was deconstructed in milestones that were completed during continuous back and forth between the team and our blockchain developers. The completion criteria of each task was clearly defined in the preparation sessions for each milestone and timelines have been met as agreed on.

The team showed high adaptability, autonomy and provided suggestions and solutions to potential problems by understanding and analyzing the project deeply. Communication, responsiveness and availability have been excellent as well.
