I’m a senior computer vision engineer at Bradken, a manufacturing company. We design and manufacture custom wear parts and equipment for the mining industry, supplying products like mining buckets, mill liners, and remote monitoring solutions to major mining companies worldwide.

We needed help developing an AI-based desktop application.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebOccult Technologies has developed an AI-based desktop application. The objectives have been to develop backend logic that communicates with the neural network for detection and classification and develop a frontend UI with analytics on the local dashboard. The main deliverables have been the complete tested and validated application software, trained models, and associated documentation.

We’ve worked with them for six months. The WebOccult Technologies team follows standard project management and software practices, so it’s easy for us to understand, communicate, and act. We meet every week for project updates and communicate through emails regularly for any request, clarification, or update.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing about WebOccult Technologies is their quick turnaround time for our quick requests related to demos and presentation material with customers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’ve already been doing well. The only area where they can improve is effective communication and idea sharing/brainstorming that can come from the tech team apart from regular weekly meetings. Sharing ideas, innovative solutions, and brainstorming alternative solutions to key challenges can be part of those dedicated meetings.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve worked with several Indian development companies and have always had positive experiences. Unfortunately, this particular company has been exceptionally difficult to work with. They frequently ignore messages, fail to meet timelines, and have very poor communication skills. They take an unreasonable amount of time to complete tasks and consistently question or push back on requests without offering solutions.

Finally, I expressed how frustrating and challenging it was to communicate with them, but they took it as an insult instead of addressing the issues constructively.
