Because our company expanded so rapidly, there were moments when additional developers or parallel teams would have helped us accelerate certain features even faster - but this was a result of our own growth outpacing expectations rather than a shortcoming on their part.

To their credit, WebcentriQ responded quickly every time we requested more support, and they consistently adapted their capacity to meet our demands. As they continue to scale their team, we believe this will only strengthen their ability to manage extremely fast-growing companies like ours.

The project is ongoing. This company was able to create a mockup of the practice management system we envisioned. We hope to implement the next stage very soon.  Sheila and Pavel were great to work with, very patient, and were able to take our vision and make it come to life. Time will tell if the outcome goes as planned but certainly feeling comfortable and in good hands at this point.

Our app is now on the App Store, and we’ve had almost 500 downloads and 350 active users. The app is very recent, and the number of users is increasing. The team's quality of work has met our expectations, and we have a good working relationship with the team. We want to keep working with them.

We work in sprints, and they deliver work every two weeks. We’ve had some delays, but that’s normal when using the Scrum project management style. Overall, the team has delivered work on time. We communicate through Discord and have meetings through Google Meet.

Their technical expertise and ability to go through challenges have been the most important pros of our collaboration.

We've managed to develop good communication and processes, so I don’t have anything specific for them to improve.

The best thing is to start with the planning and the UX/UI design, so you won’t be surprised down the road while building the application. 

That’s the smartest and best phase you can start with. They can help with price reductions and save money on building things you might not want.

I was looking for an engineering firm to build products for me.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebCentriQ has developed a custom software product for us. Initially, we discussed what I wanted to build, and Sheila, the founder and CEO, introduced me to the product manager, whom I met weekly to scope out the work using conversations and mock-ups I created. The team has built a proposal outlining the work, timeline, cost, and features. 

One of the features allows users to enter information about the customers they are targeting. An AI function runs off a knowledge base that results in a profile of the ideal customer. The second feature uses that information to find decision-makers at customers who fit the ideal customer profile. It also determines whether a company fits that profile and if a particular person’s job makes them someone who will probably be involved in decisions about whatever they’re selling. The team handles all the AI development and other features. Key technologies include Supabase, Node.js, React, and Python. 

We’re currently doing some housekeeping around integrations with tools I want to use for marketing. After that, we’ll put the product out for beta testing, collect feedback, make changes, and then launch it. We intend to continue working with them into perpetuity.

I found them on Upwork. Sheila applied along with 75 other firms. I broke down the 76 firms to 12 semifinalists and six finalists. Ultimately, they came out on top based on their portfolio and Sheila’s experience. She was already working with similar businesses and had AI experience. She also had over 12 years of experience and a PhD. I asked specific questions and wanted specific examples of work. The team came out as number one across the board. I also liked that they were local because I could meet them in person if I wanted to.

The team has exceeded our expectations. The designs are clean, and the product works fast. I’ve shown a screenshot to a friend, and they commented on how clean and professional it looked. The team does a good job of taking what I’m talking about and getting it done. They listen and understand where I’m coming from. If I want to change something, they do it.

Emily delivers on time and on budget. We communicate via Discord and have a weekly meeting on Google Meet. We use Trello for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm most impressed by their ability to turn my words into an experience. Not everyone can do that well. I haven’t had to redo things over and over again, making sure that they understand what you're asking for, and then we go build it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. Everyone can be better, faster, sharper, but there’s nothing I’d complain about.

Spend a lot of time thinking about what you want for the product. Write it out and create basic mock-ups. Since my idea was close to me, I left out some details. The team has been good about pointing those details out, so I can give them what they need. 

Sometimes, I don’t think about the main features or other dependencies. I’ve realized there were missing pieces, but I never gave them notes on those pieces.

The leadership, specifically Sheila, was my deciding factor. She is not only wicked smart, but extremely organized. The team she brings together is made up of talented programmers who are client-focused. Rates are extremely competitive, as well.

Our project has been ongoing for over 3 years, so it is difficult to list all steps and deliverables. Our front end uses Angular, and our DB is PostgreSQL. WebcentrIQ is always attentive to deployment dates and plans for extensive testing.

We have had a maximum of 5 developers at times, with Sheila always taking the lead in project management. The addition of a quality tester was a game changer for us.

I’m the co-founder of Odora, a loyalty program application for Android and iOS. The app rewards customers when they shop with registered vendors. This encourages clients to shop at the same location again.

We studied the market, and we realized that loyalty cashback programs were one of the main reasons that people shopped at big retailers. 

We were trying to create more opportunities for service providers and stores that were ready to offer better service for their loyalty programs.

WebcentrIQ developed the application completely from scratch for iOS and Android. The app rewards people who want to support their local businesses, and it’s live on both the Apple and Google Play stores. 

The software developers coded the app. They also did some of the research and documentation that we required based on a few unknowns.

We worked with eight people on this project, including 3–4 developers, one designer, two analysts, and one project manager.  I also spoke to Sheila (CEO), who was very professional. I really enjoyed working with her.

We don’t have any feedback from customers, but the application works perfectly. So far, we haven’t had any issues with it.

Honestly, WebcentrIQ had the best project management that I have experienced throughout my whole career. Their software developers worked on the app on a day-to-day basis.

We communicated via email and phone calls. They were very communicative and responsive to my questions.

The most impressive aspect about WebcentrIQ was their quality of work and what they delivered. I'm really happy with them and what they did for us. They met all of my requirements and fulfilled my requests. They did a great job.

I’m the founder of a startup that focuses on making the donation process easier for nonprofits.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebcentrIQ?

We wanted to build the web app version of a website that we put together as a prototype offline. We needed to go from nothing to something that someone can log into to see and use.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebcentrIQ designed a database on the backend. This included user setup authentication and user profiles where we could upload user data. Users could log in and see those reports. There’s not much functionality in the tool besides basic filtering, sorting, and Excel exporting.

There was no CMS, but we’re doing it separately using GoDaddy’s website builder, and then we link that platform to the app, which is where the user looks at reports.

Sheila (CEO) is my main point of contact.

I first found WebcentrIQ because they were advertised on Upwork. We chose them because they had good reviews.  Along with their fair prices, they were also located in the same time zone as us. I reached out to them and other agencies, but WebcentrIQ cared about what I was doing. Their team was responsive, friendly, and easy to go back-and-forth with. 

After that, we talked about different scopes of work and ended up solidifying the engagement.

It began in January 2021, and we wrapped it up 30–40 days later in March.

There are no metrics set at this time because our focus from a growth standpoint is still offline. We were just looking for a usable app with functionality, which they delivered. Nonetheless, we have technical advisors who looked at the code and said it was well-written and organized.

We worked through emails and Slack for communication. We put together a project plan with a list of milestones, and every time we reached a checkpoint, they sent us a Slack telling us what’s been done.

They were quick at understanding our requirements. Their team was also very self-directed, so it didn’t take much management from our end.

We would’ve liked face-to-face milestone check-in occasionally.

Use multiple forms of communication. It was great for us that we could be very mobile and manage the project through Slack. I think they’d benefit from that and not by choosing just one method of communication.
