We brought Web Choice, a Bristol based agency, in to redesign our existing website, refresh our branding and produce video content to go alongside it. The site runs on WordPress, and the redesign, brand work and video were all handled by the same team.

They ran the project well and kept it easy to follow. As it was a redesign rather than a build from scratch, there was a fair bit of back and forth on the look and the brand direction early on, and they were happy to share previews and adjust things until we were happy with the direction.

Timelines were stuck to, including the video side, which is often the part that slips. Whenever we had feedback on a page or asked for a change, it was picked up quickly and sorted without any fuss. Communication stayed clear throughout, so we always knew what stage the project was at.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What stood out was that Web Choice handled the design, the branding and the video all in one place. Most agencies we looked at build the website and then send you elsewhere for brand work or video, so having one Bristol based team cover all three meant everything matched and felt like part of the same identity, rather than three separate jobs stitched together.

They also clearly understood that the site had to do a job, not just look good. As a lead generation business, we needed a site that builds trust quickly with the people landing on it, and they designed with that in mind rather than chasing something flashy for the sake of it.

Are there any areas for improvement or something WEB CHOICE could have done differently?

Nothing major. If anything, the brand direction took a couple of extra rounds to settle at the start, though that was mostly because we were not entirely sure ourselves what we wanted until we saw the options in front of us.

To their credit, they were patient through that rather than pushing us to a quick decision. The only other thing is that the SEO was scoped as improvements rather than a full campaign, which was the right call for this particular project, though it has left us keen to do a deeper piece of SEO and AEO work with them now the new site is live.

Project management was straightforward throughout. We had a clear plan from the start, and the build was done page by page, so we could review each section as it came together rather than waiting until the end to see the whole thing. That made it easy to give feedback and kept the site moving steadily. Deadlines were met and the site launched on the date we agreed. Whenever we had a question or wanted a change, the response was prompt and nothing felt like a hassle to sort out. Once the site went live they carried on managing the hosting and email side, and they have stayed quick to respond on anything since.

What stood out most was that WEB CHOICE did not just build a good-looking website; they built it to be found in Google and in AI search tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. That focus on AEO and GEO is rare. Most web agencies still stop at traditional SEO, so for a marketing business like ours it mattered that our own site was a proper example of what modern visibility actually looks like.

 It also helped that everything came from one place. Design, WordPress development, SEO, AEO, hosting and email were all handled by the same Bristol based team, so we were never passed between suppliers or left chasing different companies when something needed doing. For a project that touched so many parts, having one agency own all of it made the whole thing far easier.

Are there any areas for improvement or something WEB CHOICE could have done differently?

Honestly, very little. But no one is perfect are they! The main thing is that building the site page by page, with each section properly thought through, took a little longer than a quick templated build would have. For us that was the right call, because the quality and the SEO and AEO work were worth the wait, though anyone on a very tight timeline should know it is a considered process rather than a rushed one.

If we were being picky, the one thing we would like going forward is regular reporting on how the site is performing in AI search, now that AEO is moving so quickly. To be fair, that is something we have only started asking about since launch rather than anything they got wrong.

The technical issues that were outstanding have all been cleared, so the site now works exactly as it should.

They take full ownership of the technical side, which means we can leave it with them and trust that it is handled. For a small organisation like ours, that has been a real relief.

What stood out most was that WEB CHOICE handled everything in one place. Our hosting, website maintenance, server setup and email all sit with the same team, so there is only ever one number to call and no passing things between providers. They clearly know WordPress inside out, and they took time to understand what a small charity actually needs rather than selling us things we did not. The mix of strong technical knowledge, genuine care and fair pricing was not something we had found before.

Are there any areas for improvement or something WEB CHOICE could have done differently?

There is very little we would change. If we had to pick something, as a non technical team we occasionally wanted a bit more detail on what was happening behind the scenes, and a short plain language summary every so often would help us follow the work without having to ask. To be fair, whenever we did ask they explained things clearly and quickly, so it was never a real problem. Beyond that we have been very happy.

Web Choice UK completely redesigned my website from scratch. My old site was outdated and did not work on mobile at all, so the main job was building a brand new website that looked professional and worked properly on phones and tablets.

Alongside the design, they handled the SEO so my business would actually be found by people searching for a hairdresser in Bristol. They also made sure the site shows up on the newer AI search tools like ChatGPT, not just Google, which was something I had not even thought about until they explained it.

The key deliverables were a fully redesigned mobile friendly website, the SEO work to get me ranking locally in Bristol, and the setup to make my site visible across both traditional search and AI search.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The biggest change was mobile. My old website did not work on phones at all, and now it opens perfectly on mobile, which is where almost all of my customers find me.

The clearest result was the enquiries. Before the redesign there were days when the site brought in no calls whatsoever. Now I am getting around two enquiries every day, which adds up to well over a dozen a week that I simply was not getting before. That change happened straight away the moment the new website went live.

My site is also now showing up in local searches for mobile hairdressers in Bristol and on AI search tools like ChatGPT, so more people are finding me than ever before.

The project management was spot on. Everything was delivered on time and I always knew exactly where things were up to. Most of our communication was over WhatsApp, which suited me perfectly being out and about with clients all day, and I would always get a quick reply whenever I had a question. Whenever I asked for a change or had a bit of feedback, it was sorted quickly and without any fuss. They really listened to what I needed rather than just doing their own thing, and the whole process was far easier than I expected.

For a small business like mine, being able to message them on WhatsApp and get a proper answer straight away made a real difference. • Our intricate AI-powered financial decisioning system needed to be simplified by Lokyata into a user-friendly interface that could be used by both non-technical loan officers and technical banking teams. Our previous portal overloaded visitors with too many data points while failing to convey the complexity of our risk analytics.
• Web Choice was tasked with developing a website that would: 1) visually illustrate the value proposition of our platform without oversimplifying the technology; 2) foster confidence in our AI models by presenting clear and understandable data visualizations; and 3) seamlessly integrate demo scheduling with our CRM. Beyond all expectations, Web Choic produced an exquisite financial-grade website.  Among the things they did was create a dynamic platform tour with interactive financial scenarios that changed based on visitor choices (e.g., displaying different risk models for commercial mortgages versus auto loans).  They created a unique "Decisioning Simulator" that lets potential borrowers enter sample loan criteria and view the visuals produced by our AI.  Filterable findings by loan type and institution size were available in the case study section.  They created a secure client portal for our back-end that included role-based access (loan officers versus C-suite views) and Salesforce connectivity, which decreased the amount of manual data entry done by our sales team by getting rid of duplicate input.  While keeping a modern, fresh look, every design aspect integrated trust cues from the banking industry.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Overnight, the new website emerged as our most successful sales tool.  Prospective customers explored our platform's features three times longer, and 80% of demo requests came from the Decisioning Simulator.  Because the user-friendly design provided answers to frequently asked questions, our support staff reported fewer basic inquiries.  Most significantly, while picking Lokyata over rivals, a number of banking partners particularly mentioned the website's transparency and clarity.

We were properly aligned thanks to Web Choice's agile strategy.  To guarantee accuracy, they had "Finance Friday" review meetings with our risk team.  They redirected resources to provide the commercial lending part two weeks ahead of schedule when we wanted to expedite it for a trade exhibition.  When we noticed a little display problem on Safari Mobile, they had a fix implemented within our next business day, demonstrating their exceptional bug-resolution skills.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

WEB CHOICE's proficiency in finance UX was what made them unique.  They knew how bankers thought, therefore they did more than just create websites.  With the help of their "Three-Click Compliance" function, users could quickly obtain regulatory documents without interrupting their work.  The "Underwriter Mode" is a brilliant touch that makes complex data easier for loan officers to understand. The lead designer attended webinars for the lending sector to have a deeper understanding of user pain areas.

Are there any areas for improvement or something WEB CHOICE could have done differently?

Our intricate compliance wording requirements caused the initial content migration to take a little longer than anticipated.  The client portal's early iterations required more filtering options, which were subsequently included.  Although comprehensive, their security assessment method initially caused little delays for our marketing team's rapid copy revisions.

What challenge were you trying to address with WEB CHOICE?

After completing our website in December 2021, I asked WEB CHOICE to work on two further issues for me. The first one was to align my website with Mailchimp, while the second was to connect it to PayPal. Both issues were associated with my forthcoming book, which will be published in November 2023. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WEB CHOICE integrated my website with Mailchimp and helped me do an email blast to 430 people on my email list. Meanwhile, Philip (Head of Projects & Content) helped me set up a PayPal account. This would help website visitors order my book and pay online. I could then send them copies of the book via mail. 

What is the team composition?

My main contact person was Tom (Co-Owner & Director). I also interfaced with Philip.

How did you come to work with WEB CHOICE? 

I found WEB CHOICE through a friend who recommended them. I discovered that Tom was a Christian friend of my son, so we had a personal connection. He was incredibly personable anyway. We also had some mutual friends. 

How much have you invested with them?

I invested around £110 (approximately $133 USD) plus VAT. 

What is the status of this engagement?

These projects happened in September 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I received 12–15 email replies of encouragement for the Mailchimp campaign. Only three out of 430 people dropped out of the campaign, even though I took great pains in telling them to unsubscribe if they wanted to do so. Overall, my personal satisfaction with WEB CHOICE's work was excellent. I also received anecdotal feedback from others about the website; they said it was outstandingly good. 

Meanwhile, I don’t have any metrics for the PayPal project right now since the book is going to be published in November 2023. I won’t know the success levels until then, but I’m looking forward to generating decent sales through that. 

How did WEB CHOICE perform from a project management standpoint?

The Mailchimp project was done quickly, and I initiated the PayPal project to get it sorted alongside the Mailchimp one. The team was prompt and efficient throughout the process. Tom was excellent, and Philip was extremely helpful and extraordinarily patient. I sometimes got technologically challenged, and Philip remained incredibly patient. They met deadlines even when they had to cope with my occasional confusion. 

To communicate, we mainly use emails and Google Meet. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with WEB CHOICE’s sheer creativity. They were incredibly creative, which I loved because that wasn’t my particular strength. Even their website had brilliant and colorful graphics and visuals. On top of that, I liked their efficiency and personable quality. They're no more perfect than I am, but I also couldn’t find any major flaws in them. Overall, working with them was fantastic. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there weren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

When you first contact WEB CHOICE, you’ll probably get through to one of their directors — and it’s liable to be Tom himself. Of the three directors, Tom is the main public awareness point. Simply go through him anyway since he’s the outward face of the company.

The challenge was to develop a brand new custom-made website for my inspiring, writing and speaking work. How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Web Choice UK were highly recommended by a personal friend in a similar space to me, and I looked at their online recommendations too. They have a Christian base in their company too, which was an added bonus to me.

In brief, I initially filled in a comprehensive questionnaire, then chatted it through with one of the directors. An initial website was created, and there was lots of subsequent interaction before launching it prior to Christmas. In the New Year the company have been great at ironing out requested tweaks, and very patient in the process...

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At this early stage of launch I have had excellent feedback from quite a number of people who are much more website-savvy than me, including those aware of my area of expertise! 2 outcomes I'm aiming for are selling my book and organizing a presentation tour, bot of which feature prominently on the website of course.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was extremely effective indeed, even given the time difference between here and India...

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their team was highly skilled in developing websites, and they were also efficient and cheerful to work with; nothing was too much of a trouble. Their aim is to please the customer, and they certainly achieve that! It's been a genuine partnership.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is very little to say here! - only that, from my angle, I could have done with advice about photo quality issues earlier (which has now happily been given). Overall, I am extremely pleased indeed I employed Web Choice UK.

In September 2021 we commissioned them to create our new website with a brief to completely reimagine and redesign our current site. In October the first-look came back and it was almost identical to our existing site. They were kind enough to start again and we approved the new look, with a 3-month timeline for the build. After the 3 months I began questioning when it would be ready. 'Very soon' I was assured.

In April 2022 our existing WIX subscription was up for renewal, so I chased up again and I was told the website was almost complete. I didn't renew out WIX site and accepted we may have a few weeks without a live website. By July 2022 we still didn't have a website and I continued to chase. Despite being very meticulous in ensuring there would be no hidden costs in the early days, I was told they couldn't upload our products and would need to charge me £300+ to do this manually.

Reluctantly I paid as I was conscious we were losing thousands per month by not having a website at all. By September 2022 there was still no sign of the website and I had finally lost my patience with them and asked to cancel and refund. They of course refused and suggested I can either take legal action or allow them to direct additional resources to get the job done.

I accepted the additional resources with a new completion date of December 2022. By December 2022 the website was still not complete. I was dealing with one or two people based in India and they weren't able to clarify to me what the 'extra resources' were. It was clear to me by this point they lacked the expertise to complete the job but failed to admit their shortcomings.

Our busy period is January-March, so in January 2023 I asked them to launch the site on the basis that it was better for us to have some online presence rather than none at all, after losing 8 months of website revenue in the previous year. The website launched unfinished and I was forced to instruct a new company to complete the work at the cost of £800+.

The new company completed the work without issue in a matter of weeks. They noted the initial 3-5 hour of work billed to me was spent cleaning up the mess Webchoice had made. In addition all of the products I had paid them £300 to add to the site had to be removed and replaced, as they had used low res images on every listing, the pricing was wrong on most products and the listing descriptions didn't match the products they were listed under.

After 4 months since launch we're still having countless issues with our site, most notably a plugin they used to create the building blocks of the design and layout. The plugin they used was a free version, which has now expired forcing me to either redesign the site from scratch or pay the costly subscription for this plugin. The website I paid £10,000 for was nothing more than a wordpress template. A website I could have designed myself and wish I had.

I chose Webchoice because I wanted an outstanding website to take our business to the next level and instead I was met with a team of amateurs who simply outsourced their work to India and then became very defensive whenever I questioned their actions and delays - blaming anyone but themselves and failing to accept they simply could not do the job.

Yes. Hire a web designer who knows how to design a website or significantly lower your costs to reflect the wordpress template personalisation you're selling people.

We then provided all the files for your new site.

Many weeks after this thank you email, rather than contacting us to raise an issue you've posted an extremely negative review that doesn't paint the full picture.

We are very happy to discuss any issues on a call and try help here but you do not seem to want to do such.

I vetted four providers and, given my background, put them through a fairly strenuous knowledge test on web design, marketing, and SEO and they performed the best out of anyone I interviewed. Many providers in the space only have skin-deep knowledge, but Webchoice had a deep understanding

I gave Webchoice outlines of what I wanted, and described what was important to me: fast, google optimized website with excellent load times along with content and technical SEO suggestions balancing conversions and organic traffic. They turned around mockups and concepts quickly and efficiently, I like to move fast and they were able to keep up

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with 5 people, two onshore in the UK and 3 offshore in India. The onshore team was good but, having experience managing offshore teams in Asia, I thought their team in India was excellent both on the technical side and conversant enough to be able to describe what I wanted directly during multiple feedback sessions.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Excellent outcome - website is fast, light and we placed between #1 and #7 (still front page) for multiple queries almost immediately. The technical SEO was quite good. I'll be going back to them for revisions in the future.

Good - onshore team made sure we settled on exactly what we wanted in each phase of the project before engaging offshore and coding began.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

For a smaller company, the competence of both the onshore teams and offshore teams was exceptional.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Having onshore do a more thorough review of the offshore team's work, there were a few miswritten H1 and meta tags on various pages that I had to catch and revert back to the offshore team that should have been caught by the onshore team. Smaller nits, overall very pleased with the experience

After our first discovery call, where we outlined what we wanted to achieve, both parties were confident with the deliverables & chose to move forward. We then filled in questionnaires to outline what we wanted the rebrand and website to look like which we then discussed on a further call. Sam & Web Choice then went away and created a brand pack for us which included a few revisions. Sam & Web Choice then delivered a test website including a few revisions, this then went onto a coding stage once we were happy & then onto the final delivery. Web Choice also managed the transition of our current website to the new one.
