Produce a 2-minute corporate overview video encapsulating the services provided by SV and the company’s point of difference / standing within the geospatial industry. In addition, the intention is to strategically determine a series of five shorter 30-60 second videos highlighting either key or new aspects of the business offering and one relating to careers/recruitment.

The pre-production work getting to know us proved invaluable to the end product encapsulating what we know ourselves as being a challenging organisation to communicate. And also the professionalism of the shoot and skilful editing combined to deliver an outstanding result. Project management was responsive and products were delivered in line with the schedule.

The time and effort to understand our business so as to extract the right key messages from our staff who were filmed for the videos. The producer's ability to see the videos through a marketing lens was the key.

I’m the marketing and communications officer at a community health organization.

What challenge were you trying to address with Visual Production Agency?

We needed video production assistance.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Visual Production Agency filmed, edited, and produced a series of videos for us. Those videos were made to get unpaid carers to register for our free support program. The videos are 20–30 minutes long; they’ve since been parsed down into clips we can use on social media, most of which are 1.5 minutes. 

I handled all the storyboarding, scriptwriting, and casting. Visual Production Agency’s team then filmed interviews with a total of carers before diving into the editing. They provided all the equipment and did all the filming in their video studios.

We worked with 3–4 teammates, but Daniel (Creative Director) was our main point of contact.

They were recommended to us by a colleague.

For this project, we invested around $10,000 AUD (approximately $6,600 USD)

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Visual Production Agency from July–August 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were pleased by the quality of work Visual Production Agency delivered. Also, even though they weren’t a part of the storyboarding process, they were more than happy to help direct the video. I’m pleased with the outcome of the project. 

Although the videos haven’t been launched, we expect them to help our organization a lot. Having videos with carers and sharing them with our target audience will hopefully get other unpaid carers to identify with the videos and join us. 

How did Visual Production Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Visual Production Agency’s project management exceeded my expectations. Everything was delivered on time and within our budget. Typically, we communicated through email and phone calls. Their team was really responsive.

Their team had great communication — they were a nice and understanding team. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t think so.

Customers need to be clear about what they want and allow Visual Production Agency to guide them through the production process.

I’m the assistant manager of La Trobe University's Community Children’s Centre, an early education and care center. We deliver childcare, kindergarten, and autism intervention programs.

What challenge were you trying to address with Visual Production Agency?

We hired them to create promotional videos for our website and some parent workshop videos

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Visual Production Agency provided us with video production services. For the promotional videos, they first gave us some guidance on where to start and what a promotional video should look like. They also helped us identify what aspects of our personality we wanted to put forward, how to portray them best, and what kinds of shots would do us justice.

From there, the team helped us plan the script; we sent them some drafts, and they gave us feedback. Visual Production Agency also helped us cut down on content. The team then helped us identify what kinds of shots would do us justice. They came into our location and filmed using their equipment, including drones. The team created shots from above to showcase the natural environment we’re located in. They also cast a voiceover artist to participate. 

As for the workshop videos, Visual Production Agency turned workshop content into online videos and modules. They also helped plan the script and provided studio space. The team gave our in-house team information about what to wear and how to present themselves. Additionally, they provided a teleprompter. In total, they produced two promotional videos for our site and around eight parent workshop videos.

I worked predominantly with Paul (Producer & Content Development) and Daniel (Creative Director) on the promotional videos project. I also worked with a photographer and a camera operator.

Our manager sourced them. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January 2021–August 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were thrilled with the outcome and quality of Visual Production Agency’s work. The videos demonstrated our personality. We were adamant that we wanted to appear warm and professional while not being cutesy, and they respected that and hit the target. They sent us an opportunity to review the videos on two separate occasions, and we only had minor suggestions. 

We’re still editing our website, so the promotional videos haven’t gone live. However, internal feedback has been extremely positive. One of our team members remarked that the videos show us why we should be proud of our organization. The videos were so good that they made some of our teachers cry due to their emotional impact. Moreover, the team was exceptionally good at guiding us while listening to our needs. They listened to and respected the ideas we felt were important to be in the video. We would 100% work with them again.

How did Visual Production Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

They were fantastic at project management, particularly since we worked through lockdowns and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re based in Melbourne and had the strictest lockdowns in the world, and given all of those challenges, they were highly professional and efficient. 

Moreover, the team was very mindful that we’re a children’s service. There were delays on our end because we were responding to many vulnerable families, which always comes first for us, and they were really respectful and supportive of that. We communicated through email. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed with how Visual Production Agency listened to us and respected our vision while providing expert guidance. We’re not filmmakers, so they provided the expertise needed to implement our vision. Overall, they were really supportive.

No, they were easy to work with.

Be clear about your identity as a service and how you want that represented. If you have that clarity, Visual Production Agency will be excellent at helping you achieve your goal.

Daniel and his team are fantastic to work with, always keeping our needs, budgets and timeframes at the forefront of every project. The whole team were extremely cooperative, shooting a full day on-site and at late notice.

Being extremely personable, the team worked cohesively with our builders and subcontractors to ensure everyone felt comfortable in front of the camera. Given the weather unpredictability shooting outdoors, Daniel made several trips to site to get the best shots across various days without hesitation.

The VP team also use the highest quality equipment and sent footage over for us to review immediately. We are extremely happy with the professionalism and experience Visual Productions provide and will continue to trust in them to bring our biggest projects to life.

Our company celebrated 10 years, we hired visual production to film our national conference & awards evening. We are currently in the process of editing two brand videos to share.

Had an initial phone call with Daniel to discuss our companies video requirements and ideas around future projects. North 10 year conference for coming up and it was the perfect opportunity to get the ball rolling and start putting creating company videos. I had a number of discussions about the filming with the visual team.

3 in total, Daniel for production requirements & planning. On the day of the event I met with the videographers and had an initial online meet & greet with Marlon, one of the videographers who flew to Tasmania to film for us.

The filming of our event was a success, we got a lot of great footage to work with. Now we are in the process of editing.

They're great to work with, everything is outlined clearly, and he will offer creative and workable suggestions. He would regularly check in and made sure we were happy with the production.

the quality in their body of work. Also everything explained, clear and upfront unlike some other companies who didn't outline certain costs .

I'm the Projects & Communications Manager for research at La Trobe University.

For what projects/services did your company hire Visual Production Agency, and what were your goals?

I worked with Visual Production Agency to produce a highly engaging video to support a prestigious awards nomination. We needed to show our researchers and their work in the best possible light in a very tight timeframe.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

La Trobe has worked with this vendor before with excellent results and they were also able to turn this project around on a very short timeframe.

We produced the script and assisted in the direction of the subjects on the day. Visual Production Agency provided lots of advice in terms of preparation for filming, best subject material etc. On the day they assisted with all areas of set up, making the talent feel relaxed and really stuck to the creative brief with very good outcomes.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked with Daniel and his team. Daniel went above and beyond to make the process as easy as possible and was very happy to let me be involved in the direction on the day of filming. His team were professional and efficient. All in all, it was a very positive experience.

We ended up with a professional video which answered our creative brief. All parties were very happy with the end result.

I work in the Families and Children's Services Department of a local Victorian council.

For what projects/services did your company hire Visual Production Agency, and what were your goals?

We engaged VPA to create a series of promotional and staff recruitment videos for our various early childhood programs and services. This included Maternal and Child Health, Playgroups, Family Day Care and Vacation Care

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We put out a design brief to 4 local companies that had been recommended. We selected VPA based on a number of factors including competitive price, past experience/portfolio of work and their production style

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

We begun with a phone meeting where we detailed our needs and goals for the project. VPA then contacted each individual involved in filming for a pre-production interview to get to know them, discuss the process and go through some suggested talking points. We then had two full days of filming at various locations. The VPA team filmed children, staff and families in their natural environment, and interviewed key staff members.

Following this, the videos were created and provided to us for feedback. We worked closely with VPA to ensure the videos were exactly what we wanted. They final versions were then provided to us and we uploaded them to our youtube chanel and shared via social media etc.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked closely with Daniel who kept us updated at every point in the project. We also worked closely Paul, who was responsible for interviewing the staff for the videos and creating any voice over scripts required. They were always open and accommodating to our feedback, making any requested changes immediately.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We now have a series of fantastic, high quality videos that showcase our early childhood services. This has been a very useful tool in promoting our programs via social media, at events etc. We also created some recruitment videos to attract new staff members which have been successful.

Communication with VPA was mainly via email and phone. They were always very prompt in responding and communication was always very open, friendly and professional.

They took the time to understand our vision for the project and because of this were able to produce exactly what we wanted. The whole team was so great to work with- very friendly which put everyone involved in the videos at ease.
