The first Power BI report focused on proactive maintenance of our machines. We analysed the number of cycles that some parts in our machines have accumulated and whether this is time to replace them. This report provided an easier way to monitor our machine health and alerted us when certain details need to be replaced.

This allows to track utilization trends and based on system use, and historical data, antecipate potential failures.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The Power BI reports made the data a lot easier to read which increased the user adoption by both customers and internal service groups.

This allowed us to identify early whenever utilization of devices was decreasing allowig us to take the initiative and engage with customers. This allowed us to improve customer engagement and increase service revenue by 20% while decreasing costs.

We had an old Power BI report analysing our procurement data from SAP Ariba. The project objective was to automate the data refresh process in this report.  Vidi Corp built a fully automated process to extract the data from SAP Ariba using Python. This data is now flowing automatically into an Azure SQL Server database that we own.  Vidi Corp have also rebuilt the old Power BI report using the new data format that we received from the automation. The reported numbers are fully matching the old report so the reporting accuracy is maintained.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The automatic data extraction saves us around 5 hours per month. Because of this automation we can also now refresh the report more often.

We are also planning to use the data that Vidi extracted automatically for us for building further automations and Power BI reports.

The project took longer than expected but this was mainly because of SAP. Their API documentation turned out to be terribly out of date. As a result, Vidi Corp had to do a lot of back-and-forth with SAP to identify additional tables that we needed to extract. They wrote additional code without charging us extra which we really appreciated being a charity. Overall, we are really happy with the extra work that the team put into our project.

Vidi Corp also ensures that when something is wrong with the refreshing of the data that it is promptly attended to.
