VGTS Tech Company has constantly met their deadlines and stayed on budget. We use Azure DevOps and GitHub to manage the project, and we communicate via email, Zoom, Google Meet, and phone calls.

VGTS Tech Company is more of a solutions provider than a sales provider. The team has strived to understand our actual needs and solve our problems rather than trying to force something that we don't need.

We don't have any at the moment. It doesn't mean they don't have room for improvement, but we've only worked with them for eight months, and we're pretty happy with what the team has done for us.

Having someone on your staff who has experience working with remote employees will go a long way in making your process easier. This has nothing to do with VGTS Tech Company, but with any off-site employees you bring in. Outsourced off-site employees help in the development process.

Whenever we have projects, we send a request for development to Vish Gyana. They create a design, we approve it, and then they start prototyping on Figma. After that, they develop the product. 

Overall, we outsource our IT needs to them, and they work as an extension of our team. One of the things they’ve delivered for us is a Flutter-based e-commerce app. It has listings of categories and products and a checkout page that helps customers make purchases. This app is compatible with Android and iOS devices.

Right now, we’re working with 6–7 people. The owner of Vish Gyana is one of our project coordinators; they also have a project manager, but I work with the owner most of the time.

Our main measure of success is that we can launch apps with little to no bugs. Vish Gyana has done a good job — we give them feedback after testing, and they fix any issues we find. Overall, everything has been great.

For project management tools, we use Jira and DevOps internally. To communicate with Vish Gyana, we use Teams.

I’m impressed with their accountability. The team is highly receptive to feedback, and it’s easy working with them. They’re truly accommodating, too.

Project management is an area for improvement for them. As a contracting firm, they want to please us. However, they sometimes need to communicate their deadlines more. They could improve the way they set expectations. The team could be more straightforward in setting timelines.

Strive for a close relationship with them. Be open, and try to get the Vish Gyana team on board — explain your processes to them. The more you can get them on board in your business and processes, the easier the engagement will be in the long term.

I really appreciate how they overtake the half cooked product. I was impressed by their expertise, engagement, transparency, and delivery.

What challenge were you trying to address with Vish Gyana Technology Solutions Private Limited?

We needed help with UI/UX design work for the desktop and mobile versions of our site and also for an app. Additionally, we needed support in creating animations and small videos.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

VGTS provides us with UI/UX design and animated video production. For every project, we bring to the table the issues or improvements needed on the platform and work together to creatively solve those challenges. We use Figma for the UI/UX designs.

For example, one of the improvements we wanted was to implement alerts on our mobile app. We went to VGTS to see how we could do that from a UX perspective, and they helped us design the UX flow and the UI patterns that went along with creating that feature.

The purpose of our app is to provide customers with a personalized shopping experience tailored to what they’re looking for and their preferences. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices.

As for the video production part, VGTS has helped us produce animated videos in two different ways. For some videos, we provide them with the storyboard, and they work on the animations, voice effects, musicalization, transitions, and copy. For other videos, they’ve done the storyboarding for us and pitched their own ideas for the workflow of the video. These videos have mostly been produced for internal purposes, but we’ve also posted some other videos on YouTube.

We work closely with Anand (Co-Founder & CMO), who is our main point of contact for all of the projects and helps keep everything organized.

We had a previous relationship with VGTS through one of our subbrands. Our pre-established relationship helped us hit the ground running when we launched this project.

I can’t disclose the total amount, but I can say that we’ve spent heavily across the board on VGTS’ services. They’ve worked on projects not only for our company but for our subbrands as well.

VGTS started working for our subbrand around the fall of 2020, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

VGTS has helped us create a very personalized and tailored shopping experience for our customers. We have a lot of work ahead of us still, but we’ve made great progress so far.

Currently, we have a large number of unique visitors on the app per week. We’ve also seen a tremendous amount of downloads on both Google Play and the App Store. The feedback from users has been excellent, telling us that we have the best shopping app in the precious metals industry. Additionally, the videos we’ve posted on YouTube have been greatly accepted by our community, reaching a couple hundred thousand views.

How did Vish Gyana Technology Solutions Private Limited perform from a project management standpoint?

VGTS is great at managing our budgets, and their timelines are very well-organized. Whenever something comes up last minute, we can easily communicate with them to make adjustments or shift priorities quickly. Overall, it has been a great working relationship that has allowed us to get projects done. Our industry changes very rapidly, so we have to be very flexible. Thus, we’re very happy to have a partner as flexible as us.

We usually have a weekly call with VGTS, but we occasionally have 2–3 calls per week, depending on the project. Those meetings usually happen over Microsoft Teams. We also use Jira and Nifty to manage the project, as well as Figma to collaborate on the designs. Using Figma has been very helpful for the UI/UX design work that we do with them. It helps us keep everything organized and allows us to leave comments on the designs and go back and forth on different ideas.

What did you find most impressive about them?

VGTS’ animation work is impressive. The animations they’ve done are unique, and their videos are very well-done. Additionally, I like their ability to think outside the box. Their UI/UX designs and their ability to creatively solve challenges from a visual perspective are outstanding. Their team has done a great job of providing options for those solutions so that we can select the one we like the most.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only area of opportunity I would mention is being mindful of the time differences, but that should be addressed on both sides. However, issues with our time differences have been our only roadblock; everything else has been great.

Be well-organized and set a good working relationship. VGTS is very transparent, communicative, and proactive, so if you want a partner who can align with your goals, they’re definitely the ones.
