I’m a marketing and communications analyst at Invest Pacific, a non-profit agency that promotes and facilitates foreign direct investment in Colombia’s Valle del Cauca region. We offer free, confidential support to national and international investors.

We needed to strengthen and modernize our brand positioning through a refreshed visual identity and a more cohesive brand system. Our goal was to create greater consistency across all communications, improve how we present ourselves to investors and stakeholders, and ensure our brand better reflects the region’s value proposition as a competitive destination for business and investment.Additionally, we sought support in translating our strategy into high-quality visual communications, including key institutional materials, investment promotion initiatives, and stakeholder-facing reports.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The most significant outcome was the successful implementation of a unified brand system across the organization. The new visual identity and brand guidelines provided greater consistency in how we present ourselves to investors, partners, stakeholders, and international audiences. As a result, we achieved a stronger and more professional brand presence across our channels and stakeholder interactions.

While we didn’t establish formal brand awareness metrics for this project, we received very positive feedback from internal teams, partners, and stakeholders regarding the new visual identity and brand system.

One of the most noticeable impacts was the increased consistency across our communications, events, presentations, and publications. The new brand framework was quickly adopted throughout the organization and has helped strengthen how we present Invest Pacific to investors, government entities, business leaders, and international audiences.

The new brand system has been applied across a wide range of initiatives, from investment promotion materials and stakeholder presentations to regional events and institutional publications.

For example, it has been used in presentations and materials shared with investors during international promotion activities, helping us communicate a more consistent and professional image of Invest Pacific and the region. The brand system has also been integrated into major stakeholder-facing assets such as our annual management report, event communications, and strategic publications.

As a result, we now have a more cohesive and recognizable visual presence across touchpoints, making it easier to communicate the value proposition of Cali and Valle del Cauca to investors, partners, and public-sector stakeholders.

They demonstrated strong project management throughout the engagement. Communication was clear, timelines were well-defined, and deliverables were generally provided on schedule. The team was also responsive to feedback and flexible when adjustments were needed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What impressed us most was Velove Branding House’s ability to translate the identity of Cali and Valle del Cauca into a modern brand narrative that resonates with a business and investment audience. They successfully captured the essence of the region without relying on traditional or folkloric representations, creating a brand system that feels authentic, professional, and globally relevant.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Looking back, one area that could have been explored further was the development of motion brand guidelines and audiovisual applications of the identity system. As video and multimedia content have become increasingly important in our communications, having a stronger “brand in motion” framework would’ve been valuable for ensuring consistency across digital channels.That said, this wasn’t a primary focus of the original scope and is something we recognized after implementation. Overall, we were very satisfied with the outcome and the partnership.

The branding project of the Colombo Alemán Cultural Center aimed to develop an identity that positioned us as both an educational and cultural institution in Cali. In this process, Velové’s guidance was essential, not only to develop a brandbook tailored to our organizational needs, but also to help us understand where our true value lies and how to express it both visually and verbally. Velové went beyond designing our visual identity; they also built the verbal identity of our brand. Some of the most valuable outcomes included, in addition to the brandbook and logo, the development of morphological guidelines, research on typography, iconography, materials for digital and print environments, as well as assets for both client-facing communication and internal organizational use.

The outcomes included a clear and consistent brand identity that increased our recognition as both a cultural and educational institution in Cali. These results demonstrate progress in visibility, credibility, and community engagement.

Everyone loved the results. Finally, we connected our strategy to our brand. We felt more comfortable with this, and our clients loved it and now understood better what we do. It was also better for sales and easier to remember the brand. We increased our sales by 30% in the next year.

Velove Branding House was very well organized and already had a structure for these types of projects. Everything was organized on a Miro board. We had weekly meetings where we could see the progress and received all deliverables on time. We had virtual meetings and meetings at their office. We also communicated via email and chat.

The most impressive aspect was Velove Branding House’s process. It wasn’t only about developing something visual but something that truly connected with our purpose. It connected with our team, aligned with the strategy and the founders’ purpose, and also aligned with the trends and the customers we wanted to target.

In general, the deliverables were on time, except for some points related to the new brand applications that took longer than estimated. We always had a very friendly, empathetic team willing to listen and address our needs and concerns.

We had a tight deadline because we were going to participate in a business roundtable and were looking to present this new business proposal there. They could meet that deadline, resulting in a successful participation.                     

How did Velove Branding House perform from a project management standpoint?

They've been outstanding with project management; they're well organized and make sure that the project is successful by ensuring they meet all deadlines and emphasizing the importance of delivering from our side. 

Regarding communication, we have a detailed weekly work schedule followed by weekly meetings, which work very well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They take their time to get to know our company before designing a game plan, which is a very important added value. Also, their creative team is great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Initially, there was some dispersion; I believe I started asking too many things at once, which didn't work well. Nonetheless, they were very patient and helped us a lot to reach a point where we could have more clarity.

Make sure you're clear about who you are as a company, and try to be precise when communicating that to them. That way, it will be easier for them to offer you the best solution for your business.

We wanted to look like an international company, so we needed help with branding and marketing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, Velove Branding House conducted research on our company; they spent time understanding our business, vision, and the specific message we want to share with our customers.

After that, they started with the creative process, developing our branding strategy, logo design, brand guidelines, company values, etc. — they actually came up with three logo options and a 100-page brand guidebook. 

Additionally, their team developed our website and handled our marketing efforts. They proposed different ways to share our image in print and digitally, created our marketing strategy, defined the voice we needed to use in communicating with our customers, and the overall look of our campaigns. They also handled the UI/UX components of our site.

Currently, they continue to provide consultations and handle corrections for us.

We now have a very nice-looking logo that’s helped us attract investors and double our sales.  We’ve also reduced our graphics processing time by 33%. With the new guidelines, it’s been much easier to create new pieces of advertising and marketing materials. Overall, we’re 100% satisfied with their services — in fact, they’ve exceeded our expectations.

Their project management is really good. Whenever they commit to a deadline, they always follow through. We communicate via WhatsApp and sometimes through email.

We’re impressed with their commitment to the project and our brand. Also, they make sure to provide services tailored to our needs.

We’d love to see them scale their business. For instance, they didn’t have an invoicing system, so they did the invoice by hand, which was uncommon. That actually caused a problem for us because we had a major partner who didn’t feel confident with their team due to the poor quality of the invoice.

Be completely honest and open with them.

I’m the CEO of Mambo Studio, an animation studio based in Colombia. We’re one of the largest exporters of animated content, and we work with different companies around the world, including the US, Canada, and Portugal.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Velove Branding House?

We had had the same look and feel for over 6–7 years, so we needed a brand refresh. We were looking for a company that could give us an international look and could understand the market we served.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Velove designed our branding and logo, and they built our website as well. First, we had a meeting to discuss our needs. They asked us about various aspects of our business to assess our current identity, such as how our communication was and what kind of content pieces we developed for social media.

Our logo was very saturated and complex, so their first advice was to create a simpler logo that reflected our value proposition better to achieve that international appeal. We also requested a logo that could be animated or have movement. Velove came up with a reconfigurable logo that could be stretched out or collapsed either vertically or horizontally.

To settle on the logo’s final design, we did two revision rounds. In the first round, they delivered three proposals very different from each other. Each one had a different direction that they were trying to give to our business and the reasoning behind them. We chose one of those directions but requested a different approach to it.

For the second round, Velove delivered three different polished versions of the logo, all of them going in the same direction and using the approach we requested. We selected one of the options but requested small changes to the typography.

As for the branding part of the project, we requested a very rich color palette and typography that matched the logo. Among the deliverables, Velove created assets for us to use on our social media. They also gave us specific guidelines for content creation, including guidance on what type of content we could post, how to use the fonts, what sites we could leverage, and everything else necessary for us to create our own content moving forward.

In parallel to the branding project, Velove helped us create a brand new website based on our previous website's content. They also helped us find new content to populate our site that matched with the new strategies we were implementing on this new approach. They were in charge of its UX design and mapping, applying the branding guidelines we were creating.

Velove presented the first designs on Figma for us to review. After we approved the final designs, they developed our site on WordPress. They also used Elementor, a tool within WordPress for us to create the content ourselves.

What is the team composition?

Typically, I communicated with Paulo (Creative & General Director) and Mar (Graphic Designer). They were my two main points of contact.

How did you come to work with Velove Branding House?

I didn’t want to hire a foreign company for this project; I wanted to find someone in Colombia. Thus, I started looking for different companies in Cali that could meet our demands. Then, I met Velove at an event and started following their work.

As animators, we’re also designers because we work on a similar medium. It was hard for me to choose a company to work with because I was being very cautious about it. However, Velove was very attractive to us because they had a very structured process to approach the creative work involved in branding; that was why I chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $3,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2020, and they delivered everything in November 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

After our brand refresh, comparing 2019 versus 2020, we grew our exports by 300%, and the following year, 2021, we grew another 60%. This year, we’re projecting to grow another 200%, and hopefully, we will be able to reach the $1 million mark in export sales.

Before launching our new website, we were getting around 100–120 organic visits per month. Now, we’re getting around 500–600 organic visits per month and 3–4 monthly organic leads.

Additionally, before working with Velove, we were exporting to the US and Canada. However, we now have a presence in different countries in Europe. Overall, Velove achieved everything I hoped for; I’m very happy with the result.

How did Velove Branding House perform from a project management standpoint?

Velove performed very well. Initially, they were very clear about the budget and what it covered, the timeline, and the deliverables, and everything was delivered accordingly; nothing overaged their proposal.

We communicated via emails, phone calls, and video calls. Our project happened during the pandemic’s peak in Colombia, so we relied on online collaboration, having virtual creative sessions and presentations via Zoom meetings.

 What did you find most impressive about them?

The creative process that Velove has in place to achieve the desired result is super structured. Additionally, they understand their clients’ value proposition very well, and they know how to turn that into successful branding.

Overall, Velove is a very good branding house. They offer excellent value for the money, delivering amazing quality work that could match that of any top-level company at a price range difficult to find.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only suggestion I would’ve made to Velove would be to highlight who the project manager was so that we could have met them. Aside from that, everything else was on point, and their work was very thoughtful.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be afraid to work with Velove, even if they’re outside your country. They have a great understanding of how international companies work, so if you’re a B2B company, they’re the ones to work with. Additionally, be as clear as you can during the briefing session and tell them what you want to achieve — they will get it done.
