I'm an independent escort and porn performer located in Ottawa, Ontario. I offer my services to clients in person in Ottawa, or worldwide through various online packages (e.g. sexting, texting, video dates, porn, and custom erotic content).

I hired Vanntechs Web Studio to complete the rebuild and redesign my website. I wanted to sell my online content directly on my website and have a members-only subscription-based service available on my website.

What were your goals for this project?

I was using an older Wordpress backend, and needed to update. My old website only advertised my services as an independent escort and did not include an e-commerce section. I wanted to enable e-commerce on my website to adapt my services during the pandemic, since I had started offering online and virtual services, including selling online erotic content.

I searched the Internet and discovered Clutch. I browsed through various business profiles on this platform and contacted 5 companies. I selected this company because of the speed of their responses, their ideas, and how collaborative they were. They also offered very competitive pricing.

Describe the project in detail.

The entire process took place by e-mail. We e-mailed back and forth extensively about my goals and desires for the website and I provided Vanntechs Web Studio with examples of things I liked and didn't like stylistically.

Vanntechs Web Studio provided me with a design and after working on it for some time, I decided I didn't like aspects of it. They were quick to respond and change the design based on my feedback. The process was very collaborative with lots of e-mails back and forth about design, ease of use, and responsiveness across various forms of digital technology (e.g. desktop to mobile to tablet).

A huge challenge we experienced was trying to find a payment processor and payment gateway that would work with sex workers who also offer in-person services. In the end, this was impossible.

I contacted multiple companies but due to the fact that I also see clients in-person, they did not want to work with me. This was due to the laws in the United States such as SESTA and FOSTA to prevent human trafficking.

As a result of this, Vanntechs Web Studio reduced their price significantly since we could not finalize the e-commerce section of my website. However, they were able to setup a membership-based section on my website, and I manually accept payments in a variety of ways (e.g. e-transfer).

What was the team composition?

I only worked with Vanessa, the CEO of Vanntechs Web Studio. I'm a sole-proprietor, so it was great to speak to and work with another like-minded business woman. I'm a small business, and so is Vanntechs. That's why I chose to work with them. I've always preferred supporting small business over large businesses.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Within 4 months, my new website was launched. It has resulted in an increase in online sales. Feedback from people in the sex industry has been very positive, including clients and other independent sex workers.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

No tools were used to manage the workflow. Communication was by e-mail only. More could have been done to manage expectations and to make scheduling clearer.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They didn't have issues working with us. Sex workers experience discrimination and it was not the case with them. Vanessa was always very professional, and was eager to learn about my industry. Together we collaborated to make a beautiful project.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The quality of the work was amazing. An area of improvement would have been in communicating delays as well as providing a more realistic timeline for how long the project would take to complete.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website Vanessa, Tim and Vincent created from scratch was absolutely beautiful. It can be hard when there is no marketing guidance whatsoever, but they were able to create something very nice and easy to navigate, which can be view on a computer or on a cellphone without any problems. The team members have great creative minds!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The team was extremely helpful for any questions we had. They sent my father and I tutorials with screenshots so we can make some modifications ourselves. Whenever we had questions for them, they were very quick to answer us and follow up with us, making sure we understand. I myself had the pleasure of dealing directly with Vanessa, and she really is a gem.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Vanntechs seems to be a young company dedicated to helping SMEs for their marketing and web needs. If everyone is as resourceful and nice as Vanessa, Tim and Vincent, I am certain the company will thrive.
