Please describe your company and your position there.

I am one of the founders of IMES. IMES is a project designed to improve the world's health care system. This will be achieved through the creation of universal communication tools between all participants in the health system, as well as through the exchange of quality and specialized information

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Ukrlogika, and what were your goals?

In 2017 we came up with the idea for the project. From 2017 to 2019 there was a task and we created a visual image, specifications and strategy, as well as searched for strategic partners. From 2019 we develop together with Ukrlogika team the whole system, server core, mobile applications and blockchain

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I chose based on the following criteria:

I am very glad that Ukrlogika development and management team exceeded my expectations in every criterion. They are by far the best I have ever needed. And for 3 years in a row I continue to make sure of it.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Stage 1: (2019. 6 months) We, together with the technical experts of the Ukrlogika team, developed a full-fledged technical documentation, project architecture, block diagrams, description of databases and the entire technology stack.

Stage 2: (2019-2020. 7 months) UI/UX project development, elaboration of all user paths and experiences, cross-platform interface development, system back-office interface design.

Stage 3: (2020-2021. 12 months) Development of the MVP and the first version of the system.

Stage 4: (2021 -. now) Development of the second version of the system. Blockchain development.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Of course!!! I only had the idea and the budget. The Ukrlogika team brought my idea to life and now I'm getting ready to launch it! I will get the best and highest result. This result can be described as - maximum comfort in working with the most competent professionals, who qualitatively and with minimal risks bring my project to its big goal!

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The guys provided a clear timeline of the project with key checkpoints. They offered several flexible models of communication with me, which allowed me to set up a very comfortable working model with them. If necessary, I can get into any development department of my project and understand how the processes are going there and when the result will be. In turn, this approach allowed them to get instant feedback and not to lose time on it.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They show understanding in the future of technology and healthcare.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There's always room for improvement. I have no problems with the Ukrlogika team. The only thing they need to fix is modesty. They are really cool, but nowhere do not write about it. They say there is no time for that))

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the chief product officer for a financial payment system based out of Abuja, Nigeria. We’ve been operating for 4–5 years and are currently getting licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. We have various services including the provision of a digital wallet, accepting payment for services, and installing hardware infrastructure through POS. It’s quite a robust operation.

As CPO, I oversee everything involving our products, from the website and branding to new product developments. I also supervise technical teams.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Ukrlogika?

We needed someone to handle our branding, so we brought on Ukrlogika to be our main design team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ukrlogika acts as a part of our product team and is in charge of elaborating marketing plans in order to generate on-brand content. I overlook all of their work before it’s published.

Ukrlogika started off by designing our logo and applying our brand identity to all our full range of products and services, which includes our hardware devices, POS, and online products. I created the idea for the logo and they made it modern and beautiful. They also put together a brand book for us which we still use to this day. Furthermore, Ukrlogika created an individual brand identity for every separate branch in our company, each with a unique logo and color scheme, but all falling under the same umbrella. 

We actually don’t have an online presence. All our business is done through our hardware devices, which are basically self-service kiosks. In Nigeria, because of our poor financial infrastructure, we use these kiosks give people who don’t have bank accounts a channel through which they can operate and make cash or card payments. There are about 80 of those here in Abuja. We developed the UI/UX as well as the actual design of the kiosk with Ukrlogika.

We recently redesigned our website with them because we’re now transitioning to online products. The new design better reflects the new stage that we’re in as a company, especially with the introduction of the digital wallet. We’re also franchising the kiosks and making them available for others to purchase. Overall, we’re moving into something bigger and are driving our focus now into the software and digital wallet. Ukrlogika is involved in designing this new stage.

Currently, we’re also developing a new product that offers a new banking experience where users can deposit money and hold its financial value digitally. Ukrlogika is helping us create marketing content for that and for the financial education programs that we have in place. Their team creates on-brand characters for books that help educate the younger population on financial matters.

What is the team composition?

About 4–5 people have been involved in our project, without taking into account the multiple designers that Ukrlogika has in-house. I interact with about four people on a daily basis, one of whom is the CEO.

How did you come to work with Ukrlogika?

I was working on another project related to a fashion brand when Ukrlogika reached out through one of my friends to offer help. When I transitioned into FinTech, I brought them along with me.

How much have you invested with them?

In the beginning, I was paying Ukrlogika per hour but they’ve given me a partner rate because I have brought in a lot of clients for them. We went from a pay-as-you-go format to having me hire their designers. I also now pay a consultancy rate.

At the moment, we spend $1,500–$2,000 for their services per month. We spend more depending on the work. Our initial brand book and landing page, for example, were worth $6,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in the last quarter of 2016 and our collaboration is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Honestly, everybody is in love with the work Ukrlogika has produced. For our e-wallet application, we went for a darker color scheme, rather than the typical light colors, and it looks beautiful. All the small details, such as the photography and videos on the landing page, have been worked on in conjunction with Ukrlogika, and everything is satisfactory.

How did Ukrlogika perform from a project management standpoint?

Projects like ours can be quite difficult to manage and while we have had a few issues here and there, I have nothing to complain about. They’ve been delivering on time and we’re synchronized with each other’s schedules, so everything works well on both sides. If there’s a need to push to meet a deadline, Ukrlogika picks up their speed. They’ll also work overtime without charging us extra.

We use very basic project management tools such as Figma, Google Drive, and Telegram for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I like how Ukrlogika thinks out of the box and produces something valuable, even under pressure. They come up with a lot of solid ideas, not just on a design level but also on a product level. They’ll bring up crazy ideas that we can put in the pipeline.

I know that when we finally execute their ideas, they’re going to be extremely valuable to our company. The way they add to our product development process is beautiful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve on hiring designers that have better English proficiency. I speak Russian so I can communicate with them but there are occasions when I want to add text content into the designs just to have the full feel of the product. The designers that I’ve worked with haven’t been 100% capable of doing this so I end up wasting a lot of time copy editing their designs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear understanding of what you actually want to do. Once you have this, everything will be very straightforward. I know of other people that have worked with Ukrlogika who have been very happy.
