Simposi is a startup that was trying to launch a new concept app for meeting new people. Unfortunately we still haven’t launched and UAStar is one of those reasons.

For what projects/services did your company hire UaStar, and what were your goals?

We had a failed attempt to build our app with an Indian team that was completely unqualified. We then hired a Ukrainian team to fix the code and they could not, we lost $10k on their code “fixes” before abandoning the Indian code. We then hired UAStar to start from scratch. The goal was a DB, Admin Dashboard and App. Bare minimum of just the app and DB. Budget was very tight.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We chose UAStar because they were the only ones who were honest enough to tell us the Indian code had to be abandoned.

Due to the problems with the Indian developers. We decided to control the work on this project and initially hired UAStar to complete only small aspects of the project before signing off an moving forward. At one point I felt as tho UAStar was not paying attention to the work and expressed frustration at their speed. They said I was the blocker and asked for me to open the whole project. This is where things went sideways. We were working on a Flutter app, I had coded the frontend aspects myself and asked for them to enable state-management and connect to a DB.

The founder, a flutter dev and then they brought in a 3rd party backend dev.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

With only 2 screens left to enable in the app, they ransomed me for more than the agreed budget and the money just didn’t exist. I couldn’t pay and was clear from the start on what the budget was. They would not negotiate. They wouldn’t accept payments or equity for the ransom. They wiped my whole project out after I had already paid three times the initial quote, and they were still going for more!

Sloppy… if I were not demanding regular meetings we would have been more off the rails than we were.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The flutter dev was actually ok. Too bad he’s stuck behind his brother or friend.

Be honest. Negotiate.

UaStar helped our develop our website and blockchain protocol. On many occasions, Kostia and his team gave us advice and helped us with best practices. Our goal was to launch our music streaming platform as well as our blockchain protocol.

UaStar was referred to us by a mutual friend. Their professionalism and cost was the deciding factors for choosing them as we were considering another two companies.

We provided the functional spec which had changed over the course of the development. UaStar helped us through a pivot. Key deliverables were a fully custom developed word press site.

Clients and users have given us great feedback. The site is fully functional and visually appealing with our e-commerce component fully integrated.

The project lead Kostia was brilliant. He was patient and accommodating at every turn. As mentioned above, we went through a pivot and he took it in his stride giving us best practice advice.

The team is brilliant. They are technically skilled and professional.

I cannot fault them as I said we changed our minds many times and they helped us all the way.

I am the CEO of the independent Ukrainian news portal, Informator Ukraine. We write about current events in Ukraine and the world, politics, economics, incidents, and changes in society. We are talking about simple and complex things using human language.

For what projects/services did your company hire UaStar, and what were your goals?

We wanted a website that stays online and works no matter the capacity of visitors. It should have looked pleasing to the eye and easy to use so that the visitors would want to return again.

SOLUTION

How did you select UaStar and what were the deciding factors?

UaStar got the scope of the project from the get-go and offered several ideas, some of which were implemented into the project later. They also suggested that with good planning, the project can be finished in a lot less time than we thought initially which was, of course, a very good thing and one of the major deciding factors. We came to the agreement shortly after that.

Development of the first version took UaStar 6 months. In the beginning, it was decided that for security reasons, we sign up NDA agreement when it comes to technologies they are using for the project so we cannot disclose this information.

To finish this project, they had a full stack of 9 team members, including designers, back and front end developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

-Impactful design. -Website that can handle high amounts of traffic. -More than 30 million visits per month.

The company had good management and we didn't encounter any issues while monitoring during the process. We have no complaints.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The company is not very large, however, judging by the result we got, every team member is a professional in their own right, knowledgeable in their part of the field.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I wish only the best for the company. Hope they continue to grow and prove themselves as one of the top Ukrainian companies in the field both on Ukrainian and international markets.

I am co-founder of Cruise-Life, leader of the Ukrainian tourism industry in online technologies in the field of sea cruises and related travel services.

We needed to show our leader position and to create the most comfortable conditions for booking and selecting a cruise online, without seeking help from third-party sites for our clients. We also wanted world cruise companies, hotel and airline ticket providers to be collected on one site. Our website.

How did you select UaStar and what were the deciding factors?

From the very start, it was clear that they cared about my input, design vision, and opinion. It was also very clear that they know what they are doing. I learned a lot while working with them.

The project has taken a few years. At the moment we’re still working on it ‘cause it’s an online service and we should improve it all the time. They’re using agile methodologies such as Scrum so we have regular meetings with the team, plannings and demos.

Guys get me such list of used technologies: Back end development: PHP, Laravel; Front-end development: HTML/CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Underscore; Design: Figma.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Again, I am very satisfied with their work. I liked the design part of it the most, I made some suggestions and the team completed it even more creatively that I imagined initially, and I wasn't even sure it could be done at the beginning, especially at the amount of time they were given. Now we’re working on a new design to incredibly improve user experience.

We’re using Scrum so we have regular meetings to discuss the progress and scope. And they are always available to contact. We are using Slack, Zoom and Redmine.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

How good they were at taking my ideas and visions, someone who is frankly not very knowledgeable at the field and implementing it into life.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Maybe a bigger team? They did brilliantly with the people they already have but I would say more specialists could give them more projects they can work on simultaneously. Otherwise, I have no idea, they did great.

I was a CEO of Nabazar.ua company. It was a start up. We developed a marketplace of farmers and homemade products.

We started with an idea in our heads. At the end we had a retail company with a lot of customers and suppliers. We worked in the two biggest regions of Ukraine.

The project was developed using agile software development methodology. We communicated with the project manager using messengers and video conference services. Every two weeks we took part in a meeting about a new sprint.
