We recently engaged TYMIQ to assist us in porting our Air Traffic Control – Information Display System (ATC-IDS) to Orchard Core, an ASP.NET open-source, modular and multi-tenant application framework and CMS. I am pleased to write that we are delighted to share our experience working with their team.

From the outset, TYMIQ demonstrated a deep understanding of both our existing system architecture and the intricacies involved in transitioning to Orchard Core. Their team provided a well-structured roadmap for the migration process.

I'm the CEO of a SME which is integrated into a group of SMEs, which are all dedicated to help our client's with managing critical incidents, enhancing their communication (alerting) and collaboration capabilities through our software platforms, our networks and our terminals.

TYMIQ is instrumental for the development and maintenance of our core CIM (critical incident management) platform, continuously delivering value through continuous improvement (functional, UX and reliability).

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Existing relationship of many years to key persons at TYMIQ through a partner company, proven track record and high value in comparison to cost.

Continous development, not truly project based. Standard agile framework, roughly 10 releases p.a., stack is confidential, standard tools (Atlassian etc).

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We successfully our platform to new customers, and we have an annual churn < 5% with existing customers. We have a net promoter score of > 9. We believe that our solution is performing above competitor solutions. Deliverables are with almost no exceptions on time, within budget and performant (which is confirmed by extensive testing, and customer feedback).

What's to say? Multichannel communication, but all properly documented within confluence and jira. They are goal- and outcome-oriented, able to see the big picture, flexible where necessary, and rigid where appropriate.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The competence of their senior team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Occasionally, there's issue with the load balancing of the senior team members (i.e. them becoming bottle necks), and the release planning process. Needless to say that TYMIQ is only part of the root cause, and that we (PM and market side) contribute to the issue as well. We see improvements through a) process adjustment and b) through attributing additional resources to make sure that we deliver requirements in better quality to TYMIQ.

I'm the CEO of a software development firm. We develop customized software for our customers. We’re based in Zurich, Switzerland.

What challenge were you trying to address with TYMIQ?

We have project managers and specialists in Switzerland, but for the main development, we work with partners. When there are too many projects that our own developers can’t handle, we work with companies like TYMIQ. For this project, we engaged with them for custom software development support.

What was the scope of their involvement?

TYMIQ has helped us develop software that has a Microsoft-based architecture and uses C# or PHP as a programming language.  At times, their team does maintenance efforts and handles other support tasks.

What is the team composition?

I’m mainly in contact with their manager, but our project managers are directly communicating with their developers.

How did you come to work with TYMIQ?

We found them on Google.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent roughly 1.5 million Swiss francs (approximately $1.5 million).

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership started around February 2019, and it is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of their work is very good.

How did TYMIQ perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve met most of our deadlines. They follow Scrum methodology for project management; it’s a team-based approach where the project manager holds standup meetings in the morning, and the team takes over each task in order to deliver software every two weeks. We typically communicate through Microsoft Teams. We also use collaboration tools, like Jira and Confluence.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are pragmatic. We also usually get a better estimation from them than our developers who are based in Vietnam.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their communication is good, but it can always be improved.

Any advice for potential customers?

Tell the team your vision and ask them what they think because they also have ideas on how things can work better.
