I selected to work with TrooTech through Upwork and chose to work with them because the developer I interviewed felt like a great fit and seemed very intelligent. It was a great decision to work with TrooTech.

We've developed a number of custom projects with TrooTech that primarily use PHP, Angular, Python, React, and Node JS. All projects have included server-side and front-end development and have ranged from simple single script projects to complex real-time systems.

We've worked with 5 developers from TrooTech in total since we've started working with them. PHP Developer, Node JS Developer, Python Developer, Python Developer, React Developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The results have been great. All software releases have been functional and reliable, which is very important. My favorite part about working with Trootech is that the QA cycles are much shorter and simpler than usual because the development is almost always up to quality and bug-free on the first release.

We use slack and asana for PM. And we chat in channels as needed for complex features.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most helpful thing about the company is the way that most of the self learning specific to the project can be handled by the developers. All of the special skills outside of the custom development, such as context specific skills for insurance-domain apps or legal-domain apps, can be picked up on the spot by the developers.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No the Trootech team is wonderful. I guess if I could've met them sooner I could have had them work on more of my projects and that would've been nice.

We wanted to provide the final uses a platform to manage their Logistics and transport on an easy way. For that a mobile app with a solid backend would be needed. Troo tech offered a very close demonstration on want we were looking for and a reasonable cost for the development

We send the inqiere to several companies, in order to help our development team. Only Troo tech was able to show us that they have the experience, the team and the resource to be delivered on time

After several interviews, we defined collectively a scope of work. Almost all the comments, needs and use cases were evaluated at that time. Once if was defined on the documents that started the software development. We decided to have at least one weekly meeting to have a follow up of the process.

The deliverables was source code of 4 mobile apps, android and iphone, a database schema and a web based backend portal. All of this apps were built using native components and the portal using PostgreSQL and Angular

We have 2 direct c deontacts to handle the communication and project, but they used at least 3 more resources for development, 1 for Android devilopmen, 1 for iOS development and 1 for web development

The apps are ready on the markets to start being released. First rollout was a closed beta to some key final user that were invited. Many of them reviews about the app usability were good.

We established a communication with the project manager using WhatsApp as main point of communication as it was easy to send screenshots and short videos about the app reviews. Also we had Google Meetings every week.

I really liked the look of the apps. Their design team was very talented. On the software development it was nice to have extra hands to do a high quality service for our customers

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Beside we never have a lack of communication, some stuff took more time than we expected. In future projects with Trootech I definitely will need to schedule the fases more accurate with their team

The biggest obstacle we have is finding resources quickly, especially iOS developers, Flutter developers, and Java developers.

We’ve done many projects with TRooTech Business Solutions. The largest projects have been mobile app development. We hire them on a deliverable basis. Our team sends them the designs and requirements, and they tell us how much it’ll cost.

Sometimes, TRooTech Business Solutions starts with developing the admin, and then it might be the iOS version and then the Android version. We divide the projects into many milestones depending on how large the project is. They do web app development as well. We do a lot of React Native, Flutter, Magento, and WooCommerce projects. They’ve also developed websites from scratch with Python and other technologies.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I have many success metrics on the apps they’ve developed for us but those metrics aren’t solely creditable to them. TRooTech Business Solutions delivers whatever we ask them to. Everything is delivered according to our requirements. We also do development projects for customers, not only for ourselves. We’re going to continue to work with them because they have good standards. The QA process is the best that I’ve seen. They’ve been a very good partner.

How did TRooTech Business Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is great. They assign someone to every project and have always given us great results. Their team is always on top of things. We use Trello, Basecamp, and sometimes Slack for project management and communication. They’re always quick to answer.

They have a large number of technologies they can work with. Most companies we’ve worked with before had specific technologies they worked with. What I like about TRooTech Business Solutions is we can integrate several different technologies. They’re flexible and will meet at times when it’s really late at their location.

It’d be beneficial if they had more English-speaking developers.

I recommend setting biweekly meetings. Have constant communication to set clear deliverables. Provide as much information as you can when you’re starting the project. One thing that works very well for them is to show them samples of what you want.

TRooTech works hard, and integrity plays a large role in their team. They’ve been a great support for us, and our clients have been extremely happy with the design and backend development they’ve done. Overall, they produce good work.

We work directly with the project manager for each project. The team is responsive and they deliver on time.

Their team is fast, responsive, and produces quality work for a reasonable cost. They’re also flexible and understanding — it feels like they’re part of our organization.

I don’t know of anything they could improve at this point.

Do your own research before reaching out to them. Have a clear understanding of your needs, and clearly communicate your expectations to them — put it in writing. They’ll be the best at doing the work.

This is ongoing. We have been in our business for 10 years and have used a combination of in-house developers and outsourced. Trootech by far, are the best we have ever worked with and we are very happy with both the quality fo their work and how wonderful they are to work with.

They are clear communicators and we have weekly project meetings. They are reasonably good at delivering on time, though our project is massive with multiple changing variables.

What were your goals for this project?

I wanted to build a version 1.0 of my app that was well functioning, versatile, and had enough initial features to separate me from my competitors....all at an affordable price point.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Two years ago, I was bidding out a separate project and contacted TRooTech among other developers. I contacted Nikhil Jani, TRooTech's Director of Client Relationships, and was impressed with his professionalism, knowledge, and his wiliness to give important advice on how the app should be developed.

TRooTech lost the bid on that project and I had to unfortunately inform Nikhil that I was going with a different developer. Even though he was disappointed, he still offered advice and insisted the competing developer use Laravel as it is best approach for my app to scale. I thought: "Wow. This guy just lost a contract. He could have simply walked away angry but INSTEAD wanted to make sure the project was laid down properly by his competitor.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say he might actually care about my project." In that moment, Nikhil had created a future customer. When my next project came around, TRooTech was the obvious first choice and we were able to come to an exceptional deal.

I had written a lot of documents describing the scope of the project. I described the goals of my version 1.0 and we selected the path that would give me the greatest amount of content for my budget.

I was given a project manager that had all the necessary skills: Alpa Patel. She and her team developed the platform.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Well the app is just getting started, but those who have seen it are blown away with it's functionality.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Alpa is extremely knowledgeable and talented developer. My project has many difficult concepts that needed to be explained by me and programmed by her team.

Alpa and her team were able to quickly understand them down and develop every tool my company needed, perfectly. They were professional, attentive, patient as they sifted through the chaos of American politics...an extreme task.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Trust factor. An issue arouse with my payments, between my bank and PayPal, which severely delayed payments to TrooTech. Most companies would have shut down work, until they received payment. Nikhil trusted that I would come through with the money and didn't shut down production. My issue was resolved and we were able to stay on schedule. 

Trust is important in business, and situations like this help build healthy business relationships and rapport. TRooTech has proven to be extremely accommodating and worthy of a strong business relationship.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything was great, but one aspect I think can use improvement is conveying a plan of attack on specific task, prior to working on them. There were moments where work was being done on features, that I would have considered "low priority" and I would have preferred that time be spent on other aspects of the app as that would add more value to the user's experience. I think a little more back and forth would have made the hours spent more potent.

TRooTech Business Solutions was responsible for the design, frontend and backend development, and database. Their business analysts helped us plan the information framework before the start of the project. Afterward, their QA engineers fully tested the system with our staff when it was ready.

We worked with one UI/UX designer, one frontend web developer, two backend web developers, and two QA engineers.

We’re developing a mobile application for the preschool education market. The aim is to provide a tool that will connect parents and children, thus increasing parent engagement. I’m a co-founder of the company. We currently have two full-time and eight outsourced employees.

What challenge were you trying to address with TRooTech Business Solutions?

This was a first-year product, so we wanted to develop something in a quick and cost-effective way. We needed to find a partner who would be committed to our product’s vision as much as we were. They also needed to be able to have and apply technical capabilities without losing sight of our business objectives.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TRooTech developed the frontend of our native iOS app. Our internal designer was responsible for wireframes and mockups. Their team handled the coding around our material.

The app’s functionality is threefold, with the first part being an interface through which we can provide different activities for parents to engage in with their children. This came in the form of a simple interface connected to a backend where we post daily lists of activities and supplies for parents to see and follow.

The second part focuses on showing 30-minute videos that encourage children to participate in different activities. There’s a parental gate that ensures the child can’t access other parts of the app.

The third part encourages parents to use the app with their children every day. The first method includes a mechanism for capturing and storing memories of children engaging in activities in order to share via Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp.

The second way in which we encourage this interaction is through a calendar system where parents can see red or green dots for every day depending on whether they engaged in activities with their children.

Although TRooTech does provide marketing services, we didn’t leverage them. We wanted a local partner for this. They did offer a month-long maintenance period during which they helped us fix any bugs.

We mainly communicated with their project manager, but developers were involved in the background. I'm unsure how many people we used.

How did you come to work with TRooTech Business Solutions?

We looked in multiple places and evaluated 10 different entities. The three important criteria for us were: whether the companies understood our business, whether they had enough experience for the task based on their portfolio of similar work, and their ability to give advice. This was the first time we were trying something like this, and we didn’t want to scale out only to realize that the result wasn’t what it should have been.

We spent $6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August 2017. We’re still working together on minor enhancements, but the majority of the development is finished.

Our soft launch yielded 600 downloads in the past month. We’re in the process of tweaking the pricing. The general response so far has been very positive. The product is stable and people seem to like it.

How did TRooTech Business Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Our conversations were structured from the beginning because we knew what we wanted and what we were doing. We had video conferencing in order to get the product to its final form after entering everything into Trello. We gave rapid feedback on what we wanted changed or fixed through WhatsApp.

The biggest advantage in working with them is that they were extremely responsive in addressing our concerns at a rapid pace. There were instances when they worked during weekends to ensure that our product reached its launch date. They gave us all the support necessary to make sure we could focus on our business and attract a customer base without having to worry about the product.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their flexibility, speed, and ongoing support are all excellent compared to other providers I’ve worked with recently. We’ve made quite a few changes to the product after agreeing on a contract. We had to pause the project for two months at one point in order to find a team for the task because the backend wasn’t ready. TRooTech was extremely flexible in demobilizing the team on their end. They understood the fact that we’d run into a few issues.

They were fast to address our concerns. They were good at supporting us post-setup at little or no cost above the contract. Knowing we could depend on them provided us with relief even after the contract was technically over.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I was generally satisfied. Although there’s always room for improvement, the issues were minor and inconsistent.

It’s great to have a good designer on your team. Having a well-planned flow and structure helped us fast track the development.
