I’m the head of IT at BURU J COOPERATIVE INSURANCE COMPANY, an insurance company that sells general and health insurance in Saudi Arabia.

What challenge were you trying to address with TestCrew?

Unfortunately, our previous website got hacked in November 2020, so we needed to develop another site. To ensure this wouldn’t happen again, we had to rely on a third party specializing in code reviews.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TestCrew had a white box code review test. They tested all the website code, which was the most complicated one. In the end, the report specified all the problems on our website so our IT team could work to solve them. Then, we repeated the test to ensure all the risks were mitigated.

We have two main points of contact; I don’t know how many team members are behind them.

How did you come to work with TestCrew?

I researched their reputation with many other IT managers, who all confirmed that they did a good job. TestCrew was more specialized in these tests than our IT team, so we asked them what they could do in our project. They told us about the three different tests that could be applied, described their differences, and told us the report elements we would receive. They said they’d also help as a consultant to mitigate the problems found and retest after mitigating the issues.

We started working together in April 2021, and our relationship is ongoing. We plan to have many more projects with TestCrew.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When our old website was hacked, there wasn’t a cybersecurity department at our company due to a lack of resources. By July, we managed to get a chief cybersecurity officer. We showed him the report, and he assured us that TestCrew’s work was perfect. He took a look at the scope, reports, and consultation on how to mitigate each problem they found, and he gave very positive feedback about it.

Overall, we’re satisfied with their services. They’ve exceeded our expectations.

The communication and quality of deliverables are perfect. Also, they deliver according to timelines.

Many people don’t know the impact of not applying security measures at their company or their personal life. Cybersecurity services are essential in the market, especially in the Middle East, where the attacks are concentrated. TestCrew has a solid position to extend their services to more clients.

I’m the director of a consulting firm and we primarily focus on defining and implementing strategies for clients, such as building new channels for them to share their experience, product management, strategy, UI/UX design, and DevOps.

We were looking for a partner to help with the manual and automation testing for one of our key clients.

What was the scope of their involvement?

TestCrew brought their expertise to build test case scenarios, and conduct and deliver both the manual and automated testing on a couple of digital platforms we had.

We ran an Agile methodology so we worked in sprints to go through all the different commitments that were made by the scrum team. We mainly focused on making sure that all the navigation tools, flow, and content adheres to the requirements of the business.

We worked with three senior testers, and a junior tester.

How did you come to work with TestCrew?

Our client was already using them in another engagement so we knew about them, but never officially engaged with them. We were impressed with their capabilities, security, and technical skills.

Moreover, their understanding of the client environment, as well as the local culture was a must for this type of project where we tested digital products for a local market.

This project ran from June–September 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One key thing that I can say is that a lot of the bugs and errors that were reported during the manual and automation testing were mitigated before it became a major issue.

How did TestCrew perform from a project management standpoint?

We had no complaints in terms of TestCrew hitting their deadlines. They were quite good in terms of communication and we experienced very few issues with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with how they were able to customize their team and service to accommodate our needs. We wanted more expertise on the ground because of the nature of how we ran the program, so they were able to integrate themselves within our team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they could improve on at the top of my head. The partnership was smooth and the team was very understanding of our requirements.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s important to be clear not just with the requirements that need to be delivered, but also the mechanism of how to get them delivered. Don’t just focus on the delivery of the objectives, you should also think about the reporting and governance of the project altogether.

I’m the national products general manager for Digital Government Authority, a government institution. We work on several products targeting each government agency to uplift their IT and digital products.

What challenge were you trying to address with TestCrew?

We needed someone to provide IT consulting services and QA testing. Prior to working with TestCrew, we weren’t doing any automation testing, so we relied on manual testing which takes 5–30 minutes for each task.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Test Crew makes recommendations on what we should purchase and install. They work on-premise, an on-demand service for performance testing. On top of that, they perform stress and load testing on our products as well as other national products in the government.

TestCrew has already set up our QA process with templates, reporting, workflow, and test plans. They also set up our cases and manage the onboarding of resources. We have an ongoing partnership because we still have several projects for them.

Our main point of contact is TestCrew's account manager, and we also collaborate with an automation tester and two test engineers. Sometimes, their project manager comes onsite, too.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

With their support, we've been able to do testing for each automation. As a result, in one click, we could test 100 test cases in less than two minutes. We also appreciate that they give us recommendations on what processes we need to change in order to improve the quality and speed of our work.

How did TestCrew perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management process is very good, and we use Jira as our project management tool. The team is also well-integrated into our system. On top of that, they’re always on schedule and always available. If one of their resources is suddenly not available, they're quick to replace that person. We communicate via email for official communication, and we also keep in touch through phone calls and WhatsApp.

We're impressed that they see us as a partner rather than a client.

I'm the Information Technology Manager. our Company (International Water Distribution Co. Ltd. - TAWEA) specializes in the Management of concessions, the operation and maintenance of Water and Wastewater facilities. It is one of the first companies that have successfully privatized the water sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly within the industrial cities. TAWZEA also provides water investment solutions based on its focus on privatizing the water sector.

We have developed in-house a software for Water Utility billing system called TUBill (Tawzea Utility Billing System) which is integrated with AMR solution which takes the readings from flowmeters and then automate the process of consumption calculation and generating billings for customer.

So, we have hired a TestCrew company to do a full test for our in-house developed software to make sure that our software is running as per the international standards of the software development requirements (from technical perspectives, Business Process Perspectives and friendly usability of the system for the users) as well as to support us for further enhancement required for the software.

We have found TestCrew on LinkedIn by searching software companies for software Quality and testing. so what makes our decision to select TestCrew for this project is TestCrew is specialized company for software testing and quality assurance as per ISTQB standard as well as having excellent experience for multiple projects have been delivered for other big clients.

Testing and solutions give us an opportunity to enhance some features for our system and make it more user friendly.

We were on a strict schedule, so they had to keep up with our team. every bug logged into ZOHO Bug Tracker with potential solutions. and then our team resolved the bugs. beside Bug Tracker, we communicated through WhatsApp and email.

They offered high-level QA testing. Their team often suggested better solutions to technical challenges as well as to user-friendliness of the system usability .

What challenge were you trying to address with TestCrew?

We needed help with performance testing for an insurance app that we had built from scratch.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TestCrew provided us with performance testing. We went through the requirements and presented us with a business specification document (BSD). after going through the document and discussed the requirements, we converted them into a functional requirement document (FRD) — all the technical aspects are mentioned in the document there, such as the functionalities we wanted to introduce.

For this specific project, we built an app that issues motor insurance policies to create quotations. The app would need vehicle information and the details of the custom-integrated third-party app from the government entity. 

The rest of their tasks included evaluating the technologies that we’re using like Java, React, and MySQL. For project management, we used TeamForce and Jira, as well as SoapUI and Postman for API testing.

I worked with two QA performance testers, a project manager, and a quality lead.

Many of my friends have worked with TestCrew, and we chose to work with them because they had very big clients, skilled resources, and very good QA capabilities.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They did a fantastic job as we successfully published the high-performing app they developed. There are around 50 users accessing the app including business users and our internal stakeholders. If we ever need to do performance testing for other projects, we’ll definitely connect with them.

How did TestCrew perform from a project management standpoint?

I give their project management a 4 out of 5. There was a coordination issue in the beginning, but things progressed well later on because the project manager successfully handled the situation. Furthermore, I had daily meetings with them to get updated on the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We like that they were technically sound in the development. They provided the tools and organized reports that we didn’t expect regarding the configurations and the hardware. Apart from that, they also analyzed the issues and explained them to us in great detail.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should liken some hierarchy. When we finalized the project, the project manager should have connected with us and explained the final output. They didn’t provide us with the test plan until we asked for them.

We had a resource shortage, and we were creating three new departments: QA, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. We didn’t have QA or QC experience, so we were looking for partners that could help us establish that department, handle the documentation, and provide us with managed services.

TestCrew provides us with resources to establish our QA department. They’ve helped us establish our QA strategy processes, test cases, and management tools, as well as other tools for manual and automated testing.

We had worked with a foreign company before, and we thought that it would be better to work with one from the same country and with the same language as us. TestCrew was able to provide all the technologies that we wanted, and they had the right experience.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have relationships with other governmental agencies, so we have certain standards for QA and QC. We’ve tracked KPIs for success, and we have documents and processes in place. I can’t say that we’ve fully succeeded, but TestCrew has helped us achieve 80–90% of what we wanted.

Additionally, as we were establishing a new department, TestCrew helped us know what the standard technologies on the market were.

How did TestCrew perform from a project management standpoint?

Starting a new department is a big challenge, but their project management has worked great. We have a project manager and business analyst for each project that we run, whether it’s a mobile or web application, and our staff follows up on projects daily.

We’ve used Jira, Selenium, and other project management tools. In addition, if we have any issues, we can call them at any time, and they’ll respond.

What did you find most impressive about them?

TestCrew helps us find the answers that we want. This field was only 2–3 years old in Saudi Arabia when we first engaged, so it was great to find someone that could give us all the answers, give us training, and help us get certified in standards like ISTQB.

We planned to go up slowly, but TestCrew has helped us grow fast in this field through their training, tools, and partners. It’s been a very good experience.

We’ve had good experiences with other companies, but they were foreign. It’s good to work with someone with experience in the field who has also worked with all the governmental agencies in Saudi Arabia.

From my experience, commercial companies look for profit, and it’s difficult to get added value from them. However, this isn’t the case with TestCrew. If we need consultation, we can easily get it from them without going through a quotation process. They always find the best solutions for their clients.

Consult with them about the best solution and best practices for your project. TestCrew has experience working with a lot of companies, which has been part of the value that we’ve gotten from them.

They've functioned as my QA team for about two years. They handle the integration, functional and non-functional testing, and security. All the work helps us ensure product quality.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They handle many levels of function and regulation testing. They also provide us with bug tracking tools, functional bars for integration, and a ready API that assists with integration. Their team is helping us with more than one automation system project as well. For example, one of these projects is focused on optimizing the workflows within our organization. At the onset of each project, I have to provide all necessary documentation to them. They are using Agile DevOps and usually have the experience to use the latest technologies in Microsoft.

Their work directly supports our organization's core mission of promoting tourism in Saudi Arabia. Thanks to them, we've been really successful. We don't face any critical or high issues once any of our digital content goes live despite managing more than four projects at a time. To me, that means the quality is very good.

Their automation work has been particularly impactful for us as well. Before, functionality testing for one feature would take us about three weeks. Now, it only takes two days, which helps us save time and money.

Their team is very friendly. I can contact them at any time, even at 2:00 AM, and they answer me. They also tailor their work to help increase the quality of my organization's work. I communicate with the project manager via WhatsApp and phone calls. For our test activities, we use WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams.
