Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the aviation director at Soma Software. We provide a SaaS solution for airlines, air taxis, MROs (maintenance, repair, overhaul), and flight schools.

What challenge were you trying to address with Teravision Technologies?

We were initially looking for a company that could handle all of our requirements as a SaaS service provider.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Teravision Technologies is our technology partner for all of our projects. They use a process tool to follow our requirements and we’re normally assigned a project manager that keeps track of all tasks, making sure they’re carried out per our specifications. We also have a technical lead making sure that everything is being done according to plan before launching to the platform.

Additionally, Teravision Technologies handles some design work for us, which has included the design of our webpage and an app for MROs. That app is connected via an API to Soma Software and it allows technicians and inspectors to create tasks and record order details and maintenance done to the airplanes. That information comes directly to us, and people can use the app to see the maintenance being done to airplanes in real-time. 

All we have to do is submit requests to Teravision Technologies and provide all the details for what we need, and they provide back all the documentation for the things we asked to be developed. Our customers are always demanding new features, so our software is continually growing. We’re currently working on a live feed for users and we’re always building new reports for customers in different parts of the world. We have more than 300 airplanes being controlled through Soma Software, and more than 25 customers live. We need to have strong technical support on our side in order to fulfill customer requirements.

Teravision Technologies also assist with DevOps support. Soma Software is hosted on AWS and they ensure that it runs with no problems.

What is the team composition?

We have a project manager assigned that’s in constant communication with us and follows up on our requirements.

How did you come to work with Teravision Technologies?

They were hired before I came to the company. From what I understand, we made a wide selection of providers at the time and selected Teravision Technologies based on their reputation, response time, and cost.

How much have you invested with them?

A 50-hour project will cost us $10,000–$15,000, including project managers, QA specialists, and so on. This is equivalent to a small project we’re running right now.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Teravision Technologies in 2009 and have several ongoing projects together at the moment.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had a relationship with them for more than three years now, and the experience has been wonderful. The support and follow up for each project have been remarkable. All our time working together is an indicator of our collaboration’s success and we have no intention of changing our provider.

We’re very happy with what Teravision Technologies has been doing for us and they’re a vital part of our success. When I started here in 2015, we were just a small SaaS company with 10 customers and small revenue. Within three years, we’ve almost tripled our customers and that’s pretty much due to the strong platform we have that’s being maintained by Teravision Technologies.

How did Teravision Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They use Scrumwise to follow up on projects and have our daily meetings to see the progress and details of any task. We also use Kanban sometimes. They’re outstanding in terms of maintaining deadlines and budgets.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most important point I can make about Teravision Technologies is the close relation that their project managers have with us. They make sure that everything is going as planned and continually follow up on the project. This closeness is one of the things that keeps us working with Teravision Technologies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing I could ask Teravision Technologies is to continue what they’re doing right now. They should try and keep all the people on their staff so we can keep going as we are right now. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I strongly recommend working with Teravision Technologies. Our project with them has been growing. They’re a really reliable provider of software development and they have all the necessary tools and skills in-house, which is important to point out. They have design, QA, DevOps, and developers for Android, Java, iOS, and so on, which means that they’re not outsourcing services. When working on a project, we don’t want the provider to outsource something they don’t have the capability for, because they will delay the project.
