The objective of this project is to develop a paperless and user-friendly application that simplifies the work of inspectors and reduces the chances of errors during the evaluation and inspection of lead content in apartments. The application will incorporate multiple validation checks to ensure accurate and efficient assessment, enhancing the overall inspection process and providing a seamless experience for inspectors. 
There will be two types of users for this project. Admins and Inspectors. The ad min web application will allow them to manage the whole system including managing the users, work orders and generating reports. Android tablet based application for the inspectors allows them to view their schedule, conduct the inspections effectively and at the end of the inspection, upload the data to the server for report generation.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As a result of this project, we now have 12 field technicians using the application Techpearl created daily. In addition, our office staff can use the web application to schedule and track our technicians. We have seen a significant decrease in the number of errors in field work due to the validation and UI improvements in the mobile application. Our process of generating reports for our clients has also gone down from approximately 45 minutes to less than 15, while maintaining quality.

Techpearl consistently delivered on our requirements in a timely and organized manner. They were responsive to changes in the details of the project over time and were able to meet our needs. Additionally, as we transition from our older systems to the new software, they have maintained excellent support and been available to make changes and fix errors whenever needed.

We feel Techpearl could have done better helping us create a firm list of requirements and needs before we started, as our expertise is not in software. This led to issues down the line as misunderstandings sometimes arose. That being said, they were able to shift to meet our needs and deadlines.

1. Reverse Image Search: Using Google Lens API, create a reverse image. Images can be uploaded from camera roll or social media (social media is less of a priority) and our algorithm can find similar products within the CSV catalog 
2. Outfit Generation Create outfits from the clothing catalog given a consumer's style preferences. If the user fits into the preppy category, for example, show more collared shirts and khaki pants. 
3. Feedback feature Once an outfit is generated for a user, allow the user to give feedback on the outfit. This can either be done in two ways (whichever is easiest):

Yes, spending more time testing before submitting. There were a few instances where we were sent an incomplete product that could have been mitigated through unit testing.

Before SEMBA, there was no single comprehensive B2B enterprise portal solution consisting of Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Order Entry Automation, Accounts Receivable Automation, and Payment Reconciliation for SMB and medium size businesses. All existing solutions focused on the suppliers and manufacturers, not the end customers. SEMBA brought solutions to cover those gaps and streamlined those processes.

The project was of very high priority to us, and we were looking for a result-driven partner to support us. We wanted someone with in-depth technology and business process experience with the ability to execute a complex project fast, effectively, and efficiently. We were impressed by the founders Senthil N. and Arathi K., who could fully understand the challenges and dilemmas we encountered and came up with a very competitive solution.

Another major factor for us is that both of them lived and worked in the USA for an extensive period of time, which was an important aspect for us to mitigate the cultural challenges. They ticked off all the requirement boxes we had in our minds.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

With the first part of the project complete, TechPearl successfully recreated the web portal and mobile applications using the latest software frameworks. We are pleased with the deliverables and the time it has taken to get to where we are.

We meet weekly via Google Meet to discuss weekly goals, go over any questions, and to give feedback on the work done. We also use WhatsApp and emails as needed. In general, we are pleased with the communication received. If an email or question goes unanswered, we can get an answer on our weekly call.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think the best thing about TechPearl is that they are fair. I don't feel like they are working to take advantage of a situation if there is a lack of knowledge on our end regarding some of the technical details of the task.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Two areas where there could be improvement.

1. I wish we had a shared system for testing, bug reporting, and collaboration. I keep my own spreadsheet of bug reports and fixes requested. I'm assuming they have their own, but I'm not 100% sure.
2. It would be great to get an email answer sooner instead of waiting for our weekly call to discuss an issue.

I’m the CEO & Founder of Swae, an idea management and decision-making platform for decentralized and distributed communities.

What challenge were you trying to address with Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd.?

We were trying to build our prototype. We wanted people to have a voice in the decision-making process in their workplace or the organizations they belong to. We already designed some wireframes and a basic user experience, and we needed a company to help us bring that to life.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the engagement with a few design meetings with Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd.. What we were looking to do was highly conceptual — it wasn’t just another dating app or delivery app which could be interpreted well. We worked closely with Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd. to really understand the problem and the pain points and not just pump out some code. We spent a lot of time designing and going through the wireframes before we moved on to development.

The solution is a platform that's implemented inside organizations. It allows employees to anonymously write out proposals for the changes they want to see or the ideas they have. They would start typing as they would on a Google Doc, and as they’re typing, an AI would help them see the strengths and weaknesses of their writing and help them improve that before the proposal or suggestion moves onto the platform. They get a really good editor that would guide them to write a stronger pitch for whatever it is they're pitching for. 

Once the idea comes onto the platform, people would have access to a bunch of collaboration features that allow them to edit or suggest edits to other people’s ideas. They can vote on an idea in a non-binary way, specifically through a slider, to show how much they love or hate the idea, and they can have a debate about the idea in a very structured way. The formatting really helps organizations or companies collect a lot of intelligence around their employees’ ideas and keep them in one place in an organized way so that they can see which ideas deserve more attention and which ones don't.

Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd. has used a lot of open-source tools to give us a rich-text editor for the collaborative commenting feature, the voting feature, and the upvote and downvote emojis. These are all things that they’ve found and adapted to the prototype so that it works the way we wanted it to.

Additionally, Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd. has also helped recruit new engineers into the core team. They have a really good roster of up-and-coming talent because they have a tech shop, and they're working on different projects on a regular basis.

We have 50,000 users. We've onboarded major corporations such as Etihad Airways, and we've worked with the secretary general's office of the United Nations. We've signed flagship NGOs like Doctors Without Borders. The solution has enterprise quality, features, and security to give it the integrity it needs for us to be able to find these types of organizations. I think the number of users and the quality of those organizations are a couple of key metrics.

Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd. has performed well in terms of project management. They deliver on time and within budget. We use Asana, Trello, Jira, GitLab, and GitHub for project management and Slack for communication. We have bi-weekly meetings with the core team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd.’s strength is knowing what architecture to pursue and why. They care about the success of every single one of our projects, even their founders. Since this was a totally brand-new concept, Techpearl Software Pvt Ltd. missed the mark initially on the feature set and the expected user experience for that MVP. Instead of leading to a kind of legal and jargonistic negotiation, the founder flew to Abu Dhabi, where I was based, and we spent 8 hours in a hotel room going through everything again together so that he could personally understand and internalize the experience and go back and explain this in terms that their engineering team would understand. This is an outsourced team, so not everyone speaks English as well as others do, so the founder playing a real personal transition role was essential.

Their project management process could certainly use some improvement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Providing visual examples of what it is you're looking for, combined with a really solid project management process, will help you ensure that you're moving at the right pace. Making sure that all the engineers are also part of these demo calls where they get to demo the features that they've built allows the feedback to be provided and shared in a non-interpretable way. Having these types of project management processes in place really makes you get more out of the relationship and helps you develop your team over time to fully understand what it is you're looking for.

The backend was built in Node.js.

The custom backend solution developed by TechPearl allowed us to offer our product successfully. From account creation to photo upload, to notifications, and even very custom feature like comments — everything ran smoothly and predictably. An expected amount of bugs were resolved promptly.

We usually talked on Skype (it was 2014-2016) on a weekly basis. The communication was very pedagogic, prompt, clear. A real effort was made to make sure I understood any decision/problem which I was grateful for. No delays to report.

The custom backend was fully-functional, maintainable by outside engineers, and scalable. The advice we were given was invaluable. Techpearl Software's commitment to predictable results at a predictable cost was 100% true.
