We had a kick-off call and signed the contract, which they adjusted per my requests.

The app is a camera app that links users with other people for shared albums they create together. When a user takes photos or videos through the camera, the other person has immediate access to those photos and videos. Users can also make a customized and shareable checklist.

There are around nine people on the team, including a project manager, a VP of delivery, a CCO, a frontend technical lead, a backend technical lead, a CTO, a senior business analyst, a UX designer, and a senior quality analyst.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2024, and the engagement is ongoing. We've just launched the app, and techahead provides three months of post-launch support.

The quality of techahead's work has met my expectations, and I'm delighted with the app's quality; it looks like a professionally-made app.

How did TechAhead perform from a project management standpoint?

The project has been on budget. I've had some additional requests, and techahead has been on top of everything. We haven't had to deal with anything out of our control that needed more hours to pivot. The team has taken those costs themselves and hasn't asked me to pay more.

We had to delay the app's release slightly because I wanted to do extra things, and something that was out of our control. However, I haven't had issues because I'm not rushing. We've gone back and forth with the app, but everything has been clear, professional, and timely.

techahead updates me on the progress with weekly reports, so I don't need to chase anyone. The team has also shared a three-page slide deck report through email.

We had many video calls at the beginning of the project, where the team understood what I wanted the app to do and how I wanted the screens to look. After that, we had calls twice a week, which became weekly calls. Now, we mainly communicate through email or WhatsApp.

The whole process has felt very professional.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We've had four milestones, and after every milestone, techahead has performed a QA stage where they've tested the app. Some things didn't work, and I thought QA would have picked that up. However, the team has acknowledged it and fixed the bugs and issues. techahead should've noticed before delivering the app to me.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It's always good to come prepared. I was very well prepared with detailed visuals of what I wanted the app to do and how. That helped get an accurate quote, so I didn’t have a lot of add-ons in terms of cost. If my sketches were only 70% correct, most costs would creep in, making it more complicated as a project.

Have a good view of how you want the app to work, what you want it to do, and what you want it to look like. The process will be easy for techahead to understand.

I’m the administrator of Fan Dubb, a ticketing company for tournaments and individual games. We provide ticketing services for travel ball, baseball, and other sports.

We wanted to add a sports app to our portfolio, so we hired techahead to help us develop it.

What was the scope of their involvement?

techahead is leading this project. I initially presented them with the idea, and they’re helping us bring it to life. They’ve provided everything that goes into the app and given me step-by-step instructions on how to develop it. I’m working closely with them, and they make sure I’m satisfied before we move on to the next step. They’re using Figma for the designs and React Native to develop the app.

techahead has also designed our website from scratch. I approved the designs and colors, but they did everything else.

What makes our company different is that our ticketing is digital. Tournament hosts can assign users, and they’ll have a scanning device on their phones to scan the digital tickets. Users can put these tickets digitally in their wallets and share them with anybody.

I’ve met 7–8 different people from their team. Every person I speak to has a different specialty. including Anuradha who's been awesome.

How did techahead perform from a project management standpoint?

When we’re in meetings, I like that it’s not just my set of eyes and ears. For instance, when one person explains what they’re doing or if anybody sees anything that needs to be brought up, they say it and don’t sit back and let me be the one to call things out. When I have questions in our meetings, one of the team members stops the presentation and helps me figure things out. They also correct things right there on the spot. Overall, they work well as a team and treat the project as if it's theirs.

We’re ahead of schedule, which is good because one of my partners runs travel ball tournaments. We communicate using Microsoft Teams and email.

Working with techahead's team in India has been great because our tech lead is in Australia, so the collaboration has worked out well. The team has a comprehensive set of capabilities, so whenever we need to build a new feature for our app, they bring in a specialist, which is very helpful. Moreover, they're very flexible, so I can scale up or down their team whenever I want.

One of techahead's standing qualities is their accountability; they always take full responsibility for addressing any issues that arise to ensure that our app runs smoothly.

techahead's biggest strength is that they're constantly trying to meet my needs. If something is not how I had envisioned it, they go back and work on it to try to meet that need.

techahead’s team is responsible. Most of the time, they’re on time and within budget. There are glitches here and there, but we understand that it happens. Apart from that, they’re on time.

The team lead usually leads the project and is pretty responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

techahead delivers and knows what they’re doing. They advise us on where to start step-by-step and which direction to take. If we have a plan, they plot that into technical terms; they get our creative ideas and break them down into a roadmap with milestones. They also give advice in terms of what platform to use and how to work together, which is useful. Overall, they’re good at doing that.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything right now. techahead is more professional than the previous company we worked with.

They’re not cheap, but what you pay is what you get. If you pay the professionals, you’ll get a good result. If a friend has enough budget, I’d tell them to go ahead.
