BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CMO of Primasun, a digital health company and a joint venture between Verily and ResMed. We’re building a digital ecosystem focused on sleep and sleep-related disorders.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Massive Media?

When I came into my role, I looked into rebuilding our company’s branding, and we hired Massive Media for the project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Massive Media has helped us rebuild our brand. Initially, we asked Massive Media to capture our brand voice and presence on our website. First, we had several sessions where we introduced our existing brand, and they spent time doing research with us, including on our competition. We shared data about how we wanted to position ourselves as a company. The Massive Media team did their own competitive analysis and then came back with proposals for different directions. We aligned through those sessions.

The team has used Figma for web design. Massive Media also has experience with several CMSs, and they've provided proposals based on our needs. We’ve chosen Contentful for security reasons, and they’ve built the website around this system. The team currently still provides website management services.

Since finishing the website, we’ve expanded our relationship with them to own our digital footprint. The team manages our social channels and runs digital campaigns for us. Massive Media has taken over our accounts and offers social media marketing (SMM)on Facebook, Twitter, Threads, Instagram, and LinkedIn. We’re currently not on TikTok due to the way we want to position ourselves. On LinkedIn, Massive Media has created a newsletter for us.

The team’s deliverables include creative assets, copywriting, and copy editing. They execute a monthly marketing calendar for our social media, which we sign off on. Massive Media also helps us with the campaign’s creative direction and planning. For example, we’ve led targeted campaigns in Dallas and Philadelphia and planned to do a national campaign. Massive Media has supported us in building the strategy for those campaigns.

When we started the company, we focused on B2B, and we later recognized the need to speak directly to consumers. Massive Media has pivoted with us, assigning folks on their team to manage the different channels as we’ve moved into B2C. Additionally, we’ve partnered with the National Sleep Foundation, and Massive Media has built a hub where we can drive consumers to become educated. The team has also created a database with monthly performance reports across all channels.

What is the team composition?

Initially, we worked with a core team of three teammates on the strategy and framework. Since we went into the day-to-day operations, we’ve worked with a team of five members from Massive Media, including Prem (VP of Strategy), a project manager, and folks who execute the tasks, such as designers and copywriters. The head of the company also sometimes joins our meetings.

How did you come to work with Massive Media?

We found them through a Google search and interviewed 4–5 companies; we got some referrals from our parent companies and chose other candidates based on their capabilities. From there, we whittled down our options to two and chose Massive Media because they demonstrated significant flexibility during our initial talks about platforms. Moreover, they responded in a timely fashion.

How much have you invested with them?

We have Massive Media on a monthly retainer of $20,000 CAD (approximately $17,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re building our brand from scratch, and Massive Media has enabled us to create a thought leadership platform and expand our reach with consumers. I don’t like marketing without data, and Massive Media is very committed to data-driven insights. They ensure the actions we take follow those insights.

The team has also made all data easily accessible through the database, where I can consult the monthly trends, which topics are getting the most traction, and where we’re getting engagement.

When we hired Massive Media to create our website, we had a different team managing our social channels. Due to the quality of Massive Media’s work, we decided to switch SMM providers. We continue to be impressed with the quality and impact of the Massive Media team’s work; we’re very aligned in our vision of where to go next.

How did Massive Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They lead very structured project management and keep us informed if there’s a risk of coming in over budget. They always explain budget growth and ensure we sign off on the changes before proceeding.

Since we have two parent companies and operate in startup mode, our timelines are very aggressive, and the team can meet them. For example, Massive Media built the resource hub in less than a week; it was a moonshot of a turnaround, and they achieved it.

Our communication has evolved. Initially, we had a weekly session with the project manager to get briefed on their website progress. Once we got to the point of them managing our social media presence daily, we switched to Slack. Now, we have biweekly interactions through Zoom and daily ones through Slack. We also have a monthly data review session.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Prem is a phenomenal visionary who has helped us build our presence and impact consumers. He has been key to meeting our goal of being trendsetters and being ahead of the curve in how we talk about sleep.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Massive Media has an effective team with very clearly defined roles. They’ve demonstrated high flexibility and openness to hearing our needs and customizing solutions for us.

Moreover, the team is very creative, easy to work with, and has spent a lot of time building expertise. Massive Media has ensured our brand remains consistent while targeting specific channels. They feel like an extension of our internal team, and as a result, I don’t feel the need to hire people as quickly as I would have otherwise.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve their handoff process. On a couple of occasions, they’ve made changes in the team to provide us with a more senior resource, but we weren’t made aware of the change until the new teammate showed up.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Schedule operating mechanisms to ensure everyone gets together regularly — that’s all you need. Massive Media will come prepared and send information before your meetings to allow you to review it ahead of time.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The logo that was created and the video that was produced were both very well received by our internal and external audiences. We used the special anniversary logo throughout 2023. The video was debuted at our 75th anniversary event to all of our clients and stakeholders and was also very well received. We've used these videos for a few years.

The team was very receptive to the fact that we're a complicated business and have numerous business lines and stakeholders to work with. That meant many rounds of feedback (sometimes slightly contradictory) and the team was great at handling the requests, finding ways to compromise what was needed and working to deliver on a tight timeline.

We started the process with Takt with in-depth brand research and competitive analysis to help us clarify our positioning and uncover opportunities for growth. Through a series of collaborative workshops, we explored everything from website design direction to content strategy and calls-to-action.

By the time we entered the design phase, it felt like we were already aligned. The process became more about refinement—tweaking visuals, messaging, and functionality while considering the technical and UX requirements that would best serve our users. Being based in Vancouver, we had the benefit of conducting our workshops in person, which made the sessions even more engaging, hands-on, and collaborative.

The project wrapped with a full development phase and the launch of a new website that finally feels like a true digital expression of who we are and the clients we’re here to serve.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I'm writing this reveiw now after final delivery of the website. Takt has been great since the hand-off of the new website and has been there for us in terms of education on how everything works, where to find things and quickly fixing the odd bug that has come up.

We had a weekly, in-person meeting cadance with their team. There was a project manager assigned to us who kept everything moving forward, ensured we had all the communication we needed and ensured we were giving Takt all of the assets and content they needed to complete work on their end.

We had a project plan & timeline laid out from the beginning and we actually came in ahead of schedule. Throughout the term, Takt was very responsive - emails were often replied to same-day or else next day.

We had gone through their previous portfolio work and saw some sites in there that we really liked and that showed Takt understood our industry and companies like ours. Takt also refreshed our original brand colors, making them more balanced and approachable while staying true to our identity. Collaborative wireframing and prototyping ensured every element aligned with our vision before launch.

Their team has also taken us through an in-depth quality assurance experience and testing performance, accessibility, and functionality across all devices. The result is a visually engaging, user-friendly website that authentically represents TKS and its values.

Massive began by leading stakeholder interviews and competitive analysis to better understand WMN and our environment. These steps helped us uncover key content, design, and functionality needs while showing a need for originality amongst our competitors. This discovery gave us the opportunity to build a website that truly stood out.

During the design phase, Massive worked closely with us to develop custom wireframes and presented three unique homepage concepts with fully fleshed-out animations. This collaborative approach ensured that every element, from content to design, was aligned with our vision. Once the design was finalized, we integrated it with the wireframes and created a working prototype for us to experience before we launched it.

On the technical side, they developed a custom audio player module that offered a branded and immersive listening experience, which is something that really lets us stand out against competitors using third-party media players. They then moved into QA testing to ensure the site’s performance, accessibility, and functionality across all devices. The result is a website that engaging, fully accessible website and one we feel really represents who we are.

Massive was an integral part of our repositioning as a creative agency. They provided the project manangement, design and back end support to build us a new web presence which positioniend our work in a dynamic and engaging way. This is something that we couldn't have accomplished on our own. Increased web traffic resulted from launching a more robust site, and the engaging design kept visitors longer than before.

Massive was incredibly organized, communicative and thoughtful in their work. Not only were they enthusiastic when the project ran smoothly, but when we raised concerns about product and timeline, they maintained an open, collaborative approach and worked with us to find solutions.

We worked with Massive to help craft a clear narrative and create a compelling online experience.

Massive began with an in-depth Research + Discovery process where they learned about our business, customers, industry, operations, and technical requirements. This stage involved interactive workshops, user interviews, competitive discovery, and presentations to discover what style and design we were looking for.

From there, Massive’s team planned our website’s content and information architecture structure, user needs, and technical plan. These translated to high-fidelity prototypes that later became the backbone for the new website's UI and visual design.

Massive's developers began server-side setup and backend development, integrating custom-built components. From there Massive worked on front-end development alongside HTML, CSS, and Javascript components, on-page SEO implementation and Google tracking installation. Then came testing and quality assurance.

Our goal was to increase security, engagement, and global load speed and also to ensure our message was clear and concise. We have successfully achieved this with their help. We can see this by analyzing clickstream data but have also received tremendous positive feedback through various in-person conversations.

They set out a clear roadmap at the start of the project which they allowed us to collaborate on to ensure our timelines were aligned and realistic. Throughout the process, they continued this collaborative nature and were unbelievably flexible, professional, and clear. While they guided us to the finish line they also were unbelievably understanding of changes to our timelines. They truly worked with us as partner, providing insight and guidance while being respectful of the input of our team.

They do this through true inclusion of stakeholders and securing real buy-in. That makes the change last and resonate long after the project is complete.
True partnership: They don’t just listen; they truly understand and hear you. I was really impressed with their ability to join group meetings and help us articulate our pain points while offering a solution. They were never prescriptive—never made it feel like it’s us and them—it feels like they’re an extension of our internal team.
Pros in every aspect of the field. Not only do they come equipped with full-fledged marketing prowess—including copywriters, designers, web developers, brand specialists, videographers, developers, storytellers, strategists—but they also never made our internal comms team feel lesser. In fact, it suddenly felt like we had a large corporation’s Marketing and Comms team!

Website: We wanted to make changes to our new website, so Massive began with an in-depth Research + Discovery process through workshops and presentations to learn about Evergreen, our customers, and how we operate.

From there, we moved into planning the content and looking at information architecture for the new website. The designs were presented to us through Figma so we could get an idea of how the website would look across desktop and mobile. We had a few rounds of Key Page Design so we could discuss each page and make any changes to suit the new website.

Massive's UX team planned our new website's content and information architecture around our users' needs.

Massive's developers began developing the new website on WordPress, integrating custom-built components. Then came testing and quality assurance. Massive did the bulk of this internally before handing us the keys to the staging environment for Client Acceptance Testing. We are looking forward to being able to launch our new website.

This new website will allow our business to grow even further. We are able to have our customers buy custom U-bolts and products in a way that reflects our branding and provides a great user experience. We're very excited for the launch of the new site.

The branding work now sets us apart from our competitors. Prior to the rebrand we were receiving feedback from clients and partners that our branding didn't reflect the sophisticated nature of our work and that it was holding us back from landing certain clients. Since the rebrand, we've eliminated this barrier and anticipate a faster growth trajectory.
