Surgery Creations were initially commissioned to create a logo and brand identity for the Cut Tourism VAT Campaign, a campaign lobbying Government for reduced VAT on hospitality and tourism in the UK. This would bring the UK into line with virtually every other country in Europe. During the course of the campaign, which ran for many years, Surgery Creations designed and produced many materials for us including: branded reports; infographic fact sheets; website; posters; branded merchandise.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The Cut Tourism VAT Campaign achieved the following, which was in part due to the brand identity and presentational quality created by Surgery Creations:

• support of 35 UK hotel and tourism companies representing some 43,500 establishments
• support of 45 national and regional associations and trade bodies
• support of 1000 activists
• support with surveys carried out by MumsNet and ComRes
• complementary campaign run by The Sun newspaper
• support of 120 MPs
• 6 out of 11 political parties contesting the 2015 UK general election included a call to reduce tourism and hospitality VAT in their manifests
• based on the Campaign's research, the Government reduced tourism and hospitality VAT from 20% to 5% during the period of coronavirus

To make our magazine look attractive and relevant to our membership. We have a relatively small budget but David's work elevates it very much. Last year we won the UK TUC award for best union journal. David's design was integral to that achievement.
