As a digitally-native brand, creating a seamless and intuitive e-commerce experience was a high priority. We hired Superawesome to take our designs and bring them to life on Shopify.

Superawesome came through a referral.

We had a kick-off meeting to pass off the designs and discuss the scope of work. From there, Superawesome dived right into the development process.

We continued to refine the design throughout development. Superawesome was very quick in turning around new iterations and willing to partner with us on testing out different ideas.

A project manager was there throughout the process to oversee timing and budget. Our main contact was the front-end developer, who was a pleasure to work with.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching our brand with the e-commerce site, we've maintained a high conversion rate. Customers seem to love the design.

We communicated regularly via email and ActiveCollab throughout the development process. After launch, Superawesome continues to partner with us on making tweaks.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Superawesome partners with you from start to finish. I have never worked with a front-end developer who was able to translate a design so well, but more importantly, was willing to refine and improve upon it throughout the process. They made sure that everything was functioning flawlessly, and if it wasn't, fixed it immediately.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No!

I'm the founder and CEO of Reservation Genie. We're a small team that offers online reservation software for restaurants and tour operators.

For what projects/services did your company hire Superawesome?

We initially hired Superawesome to help design a few pages on our website. That evolved over time to be the UX designer for the entire site as well as a couple of side projects.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted smooth easy mobile use combined with colorful and engaging desktop UX.

How did you select this vendor?

Their founder was friends with our lead developer at the time we were introduced. That was 10 years ago!

Well it's come in phases. We have a Restaurant UX that includes table management and that requires letting restaurants build out floor plans so they can seat customers. We have a Tour Operator UX that has unique needs dedicated to activities.

There's also a Customer UX where people can find restaurants, read reviews, and book reservations. And a concierge UX that does the same as the customer UX but with special tools to organize the hotel staff.

What was the team composition?

I think we have one front end designer who also converts mockups to CSS. Superawesome has gone through a few transitions over the years and our primary contact has changed. They cycle in replacements well.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We had compliments from our members regarding ease of use and flexibility regarding managing their settings. But it hasn't been a single feature that delivers results. They manage our full site.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Really awesome communication and workflow. They set up Slack and we can exchange comments there during morning work hours. They also used Basecamp, Pivotal Tracker and Git Hub to keep things synced.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The overall skill set is very impressive. Design web apps are not the same thing as a restaurant website. These guys can really think through the style with usability in mind. They'll save your users some clicks for sure.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Turn around time sometimes wasn't ideal. We need an adjustment in a pinch and they may not be on until Wednesday. But that's really a lack of patience on our part.

I’m the president of Aligni. We’re a SaaS provider for engineers and manufacturers, and we provide a system that organizes product lifecycle management as well as inventory, material requirements, and various accounting tasks.

What challenge were you trying to address with Superawesome?

When we first started out with them, we were looking for some kind of part-time design help for our web app and input on how our UI operates.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They focus on design and frontend development to improve our UX/UI. They work in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and we generally collaborate on everything depending on what the specific need is.

Sometimes we’ll provide them with some loose ideas or rough wireframes, and they’ll send us iterations of that, and then ultimately the final design. Other times they deliver the initial wireframes and we will comment back and forth on them until we have something we’re satisfied with.

We operate in a very specific area that requires a lot of domain knowledge, so Superawesome relies on us fairly heavily for that and we rely on them for the design expertise and realizing those goals in the final deployment.

What is the team composition?

We work with one of the founders and two frontend developers as well.

How did you come to work with Superawesome?

We were working with a development team that had an association with them at the time, so we checked them out and worked with them on a couple of early projects to see how they would do. We’ve been working with them ever since.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend around $1,400 a month with Superawesome, so over the course of six years probably closer to $100,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started together around July 2013 and the work is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since the vast majority of their work has been focused on web app design, I can’t really say that we have metrics on increased user counts or anything that’s directly attributable to their work.

Subjectively, the UX has improved dramatically since they started working with us. We regularly get feedback from customers and new prospects who find the application to be very usable and pleasing to the eye.

For that reason, I would say they’ve been an extremely worthwhile investment for us.

How did Superawesome perform from a project management standpoint?

They are excellent project managers. They are especially effective at working on a variety of different project management platforms over the years. We’ve tried Trello, Pivotal Tracker and Asana, and had success with all of them.

We’ve found Figma to be the most successful for us. I credit them with staying on top of project management trends and software to find what really worked best for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Communication with them is very easy. It can sometimes be difficult to work effectively with companies that are in other time zones, but there has never been any kind of barrier in our workflows. Email communication has always been clear and effective. They’re a great group to work with all around.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve always been able to resolve any issues that come up very quickly, so I have no complaints.

We’ve completed several digital ads and emails that have been successful amongst our customers. Our rebranding efforts are still in-progress.

The workflow between the two teams has been very effective. We have been in constant, close communication and the team at Superawesome has always been incredibly responsive.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were most impressed by the variety of skills Superawesome has to offer. Every time we need something done, they have another expert that was able to solve our problem. Every member of the team has been a pleasure to work with. They are great, agile communicators, offer fantastic ideas, and work very quickly.

Superawesome is doing a fantastic job and we’re very pleased with their work.

I am the founder and CEO of Cacotec, which was established in 2017 as the Digital Identity Platform that brings sustainability, transparency, traceability, and authenticity to the apparel industry using QR, NFC, and Blockchain technologies. From the begging, the Superawesome team was coming with some great ideas and they were capable to work very closely with our IT team. Their knowledge about software development was great, surpassing their field, which helped to execute the project in a timely manner.

Our team worked with the Project Manager and his team. The owner of the Superawesome has been working on our project from day one.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was executed extremely fast. We are in the pilot stage, but we have been getting compliments already, from our customers about the final look of our platform.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between our teams was amazing. Sometimes we felt they are part of our company. We can reach them at any time, even we are in a different time zone.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were impressed by their knowledge in the software development segment, which helped us to execute the whole project very fast. Their knowledge about the newest trends in the industry was impressive!

Are there any areas for improvement?

Nothing, we just want them to stay small, a hidden jewel, so that we don't have to share them with others, Of course, that will not happen! They are too good and they are going to become the leader in their industry!

We are a small NGO based in Germany with 7 Employees focused on ensuring the right to safe water and sanitation is secured for people living in the poorest regions of the world.

First we needed a website, then we added onto it until we finally redesigned it and made it more functional. All throughout, we have created additional features to help communicate clearly and in a modern way with our supports (via our website). Therefore the services of Superawesome have been fairly broad within the context of web-design and development.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a unique, easy-to-understand and functional website to allow visitors to understand who we are. To do this we needed a well-designed website that guides visitors and makes the content interesting.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We interviewed a dozen potential partners but decided on Superawesome because they were quick and clear in communicating. So even though they were not in country, we had a continue to have great communication. Beyond them being quick, they also just "get us" when we try to describe certain things.

We've had plenty of video-calls to plan the projects. Superawesome then also required that we provide the necessary information they needed to do their work, which was helpful for us in order to understand how to collaborate to achieve a efficient result. Their responsibility was design and development, while we created the text content.

What was the team composition?

Superawesome started with only few employees, but have since then grown to also include sole project managers, which are currently our focal persons. They also have designers and developers, with whom we've also talked on an per issue base.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We've not only received tons of compliments from our supporters on our website, we actually have relatively great website performance in relation to other organizations as measured by viewer KPIs. Surely it is not only the words we wrote that make it interesting, it is especially because the design is designed on point. This allows us ultimate to provide information to supporters and fundraise better.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Since our inception in 2012 we have had to change plenty of of partners, staff, office buildings, etc… which all cost plenty of time and nerves. The only partner we continue to have is Superawesome. That's a symbol of effectiveness of their performance throughout the years.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I find it most impressive that they are reliable. Although this may seem like a small deal, it is a big deal for us and we have had other companies we worked with fail miserably on this point, where Superawesome has delivered exceptional service for 7 years and counting.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Superawesome are great at what they do for sure. Our biggest wish would be that they extend their area of development to some of the other programs we use, namely salesforce, but that may be a reach.

They developed our UX, which helps tour operators, concierges, and individual customers find restaurants, view rewards programs and collect rewards, and find discounts at off-peak times.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They brought us from concept to launch and onward. We now have a fully functioning company.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow is solid. We communicate via email, Slack, and Basecamp. Their reps are responsible with project timelines and keep in touch at appropriate points.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their excellent language skills allow them to grasp our vision of the final product based on a written outline.

No, not that I can think of.

I'm the co-founder of a digital matchmaking company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Superawesome?

We needed a strong partner to handle frontend development and design for some of our projects on a short notice.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their recent projects with us were for HLT [Higher Learning Technologies] and Indiana Destinations. Superawesome redesigned the HLT's corporate website, adding parallax and animation. The turnaround time for this project was very condensed, and the client's demands were high, but they delivered an excellent product. 

Indiana Destinations was a project for the National Center for Families Learning. This was a custom version built on a pre-existing platform, Camp Wonderopolis,  and it was developed around the destinations in Indiana. The goal was to highlight different areas in the community. The timeline for this project was also compressed, and Superawesome delivered on the design and the frontend development side. In addition, they worked on logo design and illustrated different destinations and graphics that were featured on the homepage. They used XHTML, CSS, Javascript, and Ajax.

Our main point of contact was Dragan [Founder, Superawesome].

How did you come to work with them?

One of the designers in my team knew of them and their excellent reputation in Serbia, so he referred me to Dragan.

We spent around $50,000 on both projects.

We started working with them in 2015, and it's an ongoing relationship.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

For the HLT project, the feedback from stakeholders and customers has been unanimously positive and solid. For the Indiana Destinations, their UX design made the platform easy to use, which contributed to the success of the initiative.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

Their approach was unbelievable: they handled everything, so I didn't have to do any production or project management. They were on time, stayed within the budget and were efficient.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The products they deliver are in fact super awesome. I've worked with a lot of vendors over the past 17 years, and Superawesome really stands out.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They've been highly in demand for years, so I often have to check their availability, but they definitely do a great job managing the expectations and performing well from start to finish.

Be upfront about your goals and strategy. The more information you give them, the more efficient they'll be.

We needed someone with expertise in user experience to handle all the design aspects of our application. We were looking not for a regular design firm, but for someone who was intimately familiar with building an active interactive app that has a database backend.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They designed the user experience and interface for the app. We built the app itself, but we needed to present customers with a more polished front-end. We needed it to be highly functional for regular users, who work with the app several hours a day. We were also trying to attract new users to the platform, so we wanted the design to be modern and beautiful. They reached both of these goals for us. 

What is the team dynamic? 

Initially, we interacted only with Dragan [Founder, Superawesome]. Later, we worked with 4 other members of his team.

They're actually based in Serbia, and I was referred to them by another team I worked with several years ago.

Our customers really appreciate the application; they say it's extremely usable and has a functional and modern design.

They stay on top of everything and always keep us informed. We've used PivotalTracker, email, Dropbox, and Slack to communicate. They've been extremely responsive and never missed deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're easy to work with, honest, and open. We've had a very fluid experience and relationship. Dragan is very capable at translating my ideas into a final product.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything. We have a very symbiotic relationship, even though I wish we saw each other more often–he's been to the US once and I went to Serbia twice.

Be honest with them. They're very receptive to both positive and negative feedback and use it to make the end product exactly what their clients and their clients' customers need.
