We needed the ground-up development of an EPCS-certifiable, HIPAA-compliant, doctor medical portal (with admin tiers) that worked in conjunction with a patient-specific app that had relatively complex needs (like supporting patients through customized titration schedules). We needed it function both for pay-for-service practices as well as all-inclusive concierge practices. 

It had to work no matter the level of tiers a particular practice had (including franchised businesses). On top of this, we needed it to be an open architecture so that it could easily integrate with other medical platforms. And, to boot, we needed relatively bleeding-edge AI and machine learning integration because our medical field needs more data, and providers need support to get their prescriptions dialed in for the almost infinite variety they face in their patients.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The only deadlines ever missed were because we threw complex changes into the mix as we flexed to meet the needs our providers were demanding. Steinn labs tracked every step in Github with the level of thoroughness and methodical attention to detail (even in the face of us demanding a fast build) that gave our CTO a high level of assurance that we were writing clear, accurate code, prioritizing tasks accurately, and responding to the changes we added as we went along. They were also willing to go old-school and work with spreadsheets as our medical director needed.

This is our fourth app development team I've worked with over the last 8 years. It is because of details like their level of commitment to on-time delivery (with a ruthless commitment to quality even if it meant pushing back against our never-ending drive for speed) and the ways in which they respond to our needs that lead me to believe that we have found our forever-team..

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Most dev teams give us what we want. What gets missed in this is that they are not sharing with us all they know about what actually works best and what is leading edge. This team is willing to share what they think and often their solutions are far more elegant and innovative than what we asked for. I believe this fifty-thousand-foot perspective is the hardest and requires the most intelligence and the most vision. It's rare for us to find people with the skills and the commitment to rise to this level of excellence.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Steinn Labs could have done differently?

We're thoroughly happy with their work, we just can't think of anything we could add here that would in any way capture our experience. In other words, "No! They've been exemplary."

I am the CEO. We are a product engineering company with 325+ engineers. We build products for startups & enterprises with expertise in full-stack product engineering, cloud/DevOps & data engineering.

We need high-quality talent and cannot hire fast enough in the current market. So we used software engineers from Steinn for a few projects with Django, Node & React skills. They were able to provide engineers within 1-2 weeks and go through our stringent interview and selection process.

We found them via a referral from an existing employee of ours. Their leadership gave a good proposal and talked through their talent selection and hiring process. And then they shared a few profiles which had the necessary expertise. And the rates worked out as well.

Steinn has worked on multiple projects for us. Most of the projects are B2B SaaS products for startups. Their team worked with technologies like Django, Python, Node, React, Javascript, databases, etc.

We have 4 people working for us. All of them are junior or mid-level engineers and individual contributors.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The engineers were ramped up and contributing to the project within 1-2 weeks. Quality of code, communication, and adherence to processes has been top quality.

In this case, the team augmented ours so project management was not provided by Steinn Labs. We used Slack for communication and Jira for project management. The engineers from Steinn are hard-working and conscientious so they took good responsibility of their own work.

They have been a real partner to us. They have been authentic and transparent.

Hire senior talent and train engineers on more complex technologies.

I am the founder of a UI/UX Agency where we focus purely on Designing for our clients. Steinn Labs was a development partner that we found that helped our turn our client designs into tangible products.

How did you select Steinn Labs and what were the deciding factors?

Steinn Labs has a focus on MEAN and MERN Stack which is exactly what most of our clients look for - having this specific requirement from our side and similar expertise on their end; it was a no-brainer to go ahead with them. They portfolio of work was also very impressive.

Their team is completely remote, which give us an added advantage to work flexibly due to our nature of business.

Steinn Labs jumps in when we need to build Information Architecture during our design process - being a Design Agency sometimes we focus a lot on aesthetics which sometimes cannot be feasible to develop. Steinn Labs and the team help us ground the limitations and build awareness on trade-off during this process.

Once the designs are final, Steinn Labs helps us pick up pace with backend setup and assigning frontend engineers who coordinate with my team. One recent project we worked on was a bootstrapped founder project to build a marketplace for at-home services of fine-dining restaurants. The project is still on going.

We have worked with the main founder - Abhishek and some of his team leads - specifically Salman. Both of them have a knack for people skills, project management and timely updates.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Compared to other development agencies I have worked with, Steinn Labs has been 40% more efficient. The reason I know this is because I calculated based on hourly costs and the amount of time they have taken to deliver projects.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Email, Slack and Project Management tools were a common approach to all the projects we worked on. This reduced multiple back and forth, encouraged documentation of process and built efficiency on all fronts.

Their dedication to building a product as if it's their own is impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

For the kind of work they do, the pricing is too good to be true. I would suggest them to increase it.

Steinn Labs' teammates augment our development teams — at this point, 4–5 developers are working on projects with us. For each project, we give Steinn Labs our requirements, such as backend developers with JavaScript experience, and then their team delivers to them. Our requirements are always very specific because our projects are customer-specific. Steinn Labs' teammates also have to onboard into our customer-specific teams, which includes learning about company and data security policies.

We only have two main points of contact, including the project lead.

The skills we were looking for were in high demand, and when we tried to get resources that fit our needs within our regular channels, it wasn't easy. That's when we decided to hire Steinn Labs.

Our projects are for specific customers, but within those projects are multi-partner end users — multiple companies provide connective services. So, we generally measure success by whether or not the software works together. 

How did Steinn Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Since Steinn Labs' developers are part of our agile teams, each one must properly communicate what they've worked on within a project. Whenever we have performance issues, I reach out directly to Steinn Labs. Then, their team corrects the performance or offers a replacement developer. Most of our communication is through emails. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

When we struggle to find resources, it is great that we can get some from Steinn Labs that meet our requirements. So far, Steinn Labs' teammates are doing really well and adding value to the projects they're a part of. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They're in a very competitive market and Steinn Labs need to focus on profiling developers that fit our roles. However, I understand that it is a competitive market and it can be challenging to find resources with specific skills.

I've found Steinn Labs' developers to be very good, especially those with skills in new areas like Golang. So, I'd recommend their services to anyone looking for resources with special skills.
