There have been many measurable outcomes along the way, but our primary measurable outcome is a functioning tool on our website. Spiral Scout has hit a home run with this tool. With it, we've been able to fully represent the scope of our business services digitally on our website. This tool has given our customers access to self-service and has allowed us to upskill and train our internal stakeholders.

Moreover, this tool takes a 3–4-minute conversation with a customer and another 60 seconds of hand jam data entry into an ERP and accomplishes the same task in under 60 seconds. These conversations happen hundreds of times per day in our business. While this tool hasn't totally replaced the physical conversations, it's being adopted and saving hundreds of hours per month and giving our customers 24/7 access to this service.

Spiral Scout has brought my vision for the solution to life. I had been working with a different tech team for over a year and was struggling. Spiral Scout showed me in less than 24 hours how it could work, despite having no knowledge of our industry.

Moreover, every time a client has input or a request during the pilot phase, Spiral Scout has worked over the weekends to bring it to life. We’ve seen increased client engagement, and the client “gets it” immediately. We’ve also received great client testimonials. We’ve had two clients move from the pilot to the extended pilot phase because of Spiral Scout’s work. Prior to working with them, both clients had said no to moving forward.

We needed to build a website from scratch, but wanted something that our team (with no internal experience and expertise) could manage from there. We selected a template from wordpress, and then Spiral Scout developed custom pages and add-ons for us in places where we wanted go to beyond the basics.

Spiral Scout built the website and then taught us how to manage it, creating a library of loom videos for reference.

Spiral Scout exceeded our expectations on every front. Our main contact, Darya, was timely, efficient, available, and responsive.  As the site was built, she took our feedback to the developers and translated our ideas to them.  Her communication skills (Google Meet, email, and Loom videos) were outstanding.  She was flexible when our needs or desires changed.  She and the entire team understood that this project, while small in the scheme of website development, was of deep importance to us, and they treated the project as if it were the most important item on their list.  I imagine all of their clients feel this way.  We recommend Spiral Scout unreservedly and would work with them again if the opportunity arose!

For what projects/services did your company hire Spiral Scout, and what were your goals?

We had serious issue with our custom shopify app that was originally built for us by another development agency. We needed an expert to step in and pick up the pieces after realizing that the previous agency had screwed up a lot of the code/desired functionality for our app. We looked to Spiral Scout to come in and help right the ship quickly. Our project was a two month engagement which required them to conduct a code audit, fix a set of core bugs, and then build several new features for our custom sales channel app.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We chose to work with Spiral Scout based on the recommendations from a few ecommerce founders in our network who had nothing bu great things to say about the team and their work.

They first ran a code audit to help us understand what issues existed within the current code base for our Shopify app. The team came to us with a clear set of recommendations for which issues were major and needed to be addressed immediately and which were minor and could be ignored (which I liked) After the code audit, they got to work updating our custom shopify app which was primarily built in node.js on top of our postgresql database. They worked with us to break the project up into tickets which we then defined/scoped. The team quickly fit into our existing work flow in JIRA and knocked out each ticket assigned quickly and efficiently.

There were 5 team members involved. We had the project lead, a back end engineer, a front end engineer, a QA engineer, and a project manager. In addition to this were in frequent communication with the founder/CEO John which was great.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The team fixed all bugs and built the new features requested for the shopify app within the two month timeline we had set as a goal. I believe they finished everything up a few weeks early even.

Communication was very clear with detailed proposals sent out the beginning of the project that outline the work in both a summary document and excel sheet breaking down the project costs. During the project, they fit in seamlessly with our existing JIRA environment and implemented a time tracking app within JIRA to stay on top of hours logged.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Two things: 1. Their attention to detail. They communicated very clearly from start to finish of the project and I felt like I had a good sense at all times of whether we were on or off track 2. Quality of work. Compared to the other dev agencies we've worked with Spiral Scout is far superior
