We wholesale to many vendors, and Spear CPA is our accountant.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Spear CPA helps us in many aspects of our business, such as obtaining payment protection program (PPP) loans, organizing finances, and paying taxes as we deal in and out of our state. They advise us on how to save money and deductions. 

For instance, they’ve advised us to purchase a vehicle we’d been leasing since we can get a bigger tax deduction with a purchase than with a lease. They’ve also assisted us in acquiring PPP loans during the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from tax preparation, Spear CPA helps us with bookkeeping and financial auditing. They work on learning new systems and implement them into their work with us.

I have a few direct contacts with Spear CPA’s employees. When there are things that need to be done, we deal with the right people in the company; everyone has their job.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

At first, Spear CPA wasn’t familiar with our industry, so they’ve had to come up to speed — they’ve been truly willing to do that and assist us in many ways. Moreover, the team has exceeded my expectations.  

I’ve referred them to other people, and they’ve helped those people and companies save money. Simply put, they’ve gotten repeat business because we’re happy with their work.

Spear CPA’s project management is amazing. They’re always early, and we’re always late. They always follow up on us to ensure we’ve done the things that need to be done. If they see that we haven’t responded to something, they consistently email us.

Once in a while, an email falls through, so we don’t always respond — they’ll call us then to ensure we do things on time so that we can pay our taxes on time or get a tax refund. I like that because it means they’re always on top of their game.

I was looking for a good accountant to guide me and give me good tax advice. I also needed help with keeping track of all of my expenses. We have a lot of consumables and vendors, so I needed to ensure that I was paying all my bills and spending the right amount of money.

Spear CPA CFP helps me with my bookkeeping and tax planning. They also keep track of my records, respond to my notices, take my calls, and ensure my paperwork gets filed on time. As for the technology stack, they use QuickBooks to keep track of our records.

Moreover, Spear CPA CFP looks after my tax planning. For example, when I buy new equipment, they advise me on how to write it off. Additionally, they help me evaluate interest rates for loans and make healthy financial decisions according to my tax brackets.

We work with three people from Spear CPA CFP. They’re all tax consultants and accountants. Meir (CEO & Founder) has been my main point of contact throughout the years.

We got referred to them, and Mier reached out to me shortly after that. It was important for me to work with someone seriously interested in my company. Mier interviewed me thoroughly to understand my business and how he could help me, so I hired Spear CPA CFP.

I’m not sure how much I’ve paid them thus far, but it’s between $10,000–$25,000. Still, whatever I’ve paid them has been worth the money.

Our ongoing partnership started in 2008. I’ve been referred to other CPAs, but I’m so satisfied with Spear CPA CFP’s services that I wouldn’t leave them.

Spear CPA CFP has helped us tremendously. I’m 100% satisfied with their services, and they’ve exceeded my expectations.

How did Spear CPA CFP perform from a project management standpoint?

Spear CPA CFP’s project management goes above and beyond their line of duty, and they’re great at staying on top of their work. They provide us with realistic time frames, and they’re very accommodating to our needs. Moreover, they excel at explaining what our budget is and what we can do with it.

We communicate via email, text messages, and phone calls. Additionally, Spear CPA CFP uses a lot of tools on their end to manage the project, but I don’t need access to those. Whenever I have a question, I can easily reach out to them, and they always return my calls. They’re probably one of the first people I refer to before making any financial decisions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mier is an expert in what he does. He always ensures to file our taxes on time, which is incredible. Other service providers we worked with in the past didn’t care about that. However, Mier is constantly sending emails and notices, and he explains the consequences of not filing our taxes on time. Overall, he’s on top of everything, which is very helpful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Although there’s always room for improvement, I don’t see any areas of improvement for Spear CPA CFP.

Thoroughly explain your business to Spear CPA CFP and what you need them for. They’re very knowledgeable, so allowing them to understand your needs is a good starting point.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I originally did all of my accounting on QuickBooks. Meir (CEO & Founder) helped me through that, making sure I was classifying everything correctly. At the start of our engagement, he found that we weren’t classified correctly as a business. He was able to navigate us through the IRS codes safely and changed us over to an S-Corp.

Every month, he would take a look at the files and different accounts to compute our taxes.

While I sold the company and retired, Meir keeps track of the taxes that are coming in.

Meir is my fiscal therapist. Whenever there’s a tax issue or problem, he’s always there to talk through everything.

How did Spear CPA CFP perform from a project management standpoint?

He performed very well from a project management standpoint. We were concerned about the tax implications and how to best structure the sale during the negotiations for selling the company. It was a lot of give and take. The structure of the deal was changing weekly, and I had to keep Meir in the loop. He was very responsive throughout this. I sent him whatever information I could, and he would rework it and figure out how to best pay the minimum amount of taxes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

His attention to detail makes him stand out. He has access to my business checking account, and he often knows situations before I do. That’s something you really want in an accountant.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If he could figure out how to save me more money, I’d love it. But I think he’s pretty much maxed out.

Communication is the best. Tell Meir what your situation is, and be proactive in that. It helps him make sure he is on top of everything. I’ve recommended him to others, and they all just love him.
