I’m the founder of Ocean CPA LLC, a US accounting firm. We’re commercializing Audit Guard, a QuickBooks-connected audit and anomaly-detection platform for CPAs and business owners.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with a structured validation workshop to lock the business objectives, the fraud scenarios, the scoring methodology, risk thresholds, decision logic, and what “explainable” had to mean for an accountant before anyone wrote code. From there, the build ran in order.First, we developed a transaction ingestion and simulation layer so development wasn’t blocked waiting on live data access. Then, we built a Python scoring engine with scikit-learn and XGBoost, exposed as a FastAPI REST service, returning a risk score plus reason codes for every transaction.On top of that, we built a multi-agent layer orchestrated with LangGraph over Claude: a triage agent that validates the score and prepares the case, an investigation agent that pulls transaction detail, history, and context and writes a plain-English summary with the evidence it used, a recommendation agent that proposes approval, decline, hold, or step-up authentication with its reasoning, and a learning agent that captures what the analyst actually decided and proposes threshold changes.Every investigation persists as a structured case record so the shape is consistent and auditable. The frontend is a React dashboard where an analyst works the alert queue, opens a case, reads the AI narrative, and approves or overrides, with the whole thing written to an audit trail.We deployed the platform to a secure cloud environment with architecture documentation, an API reference, a deployment guide, and full source-code handover. Security was in scope throughout rather than bolted on at the end — JWT and OAuth 2.0 authentication, role-based access control separating administrators from analysts, TLS in transit, encryption at rest, audit logging, and OWASP-aligned development practices.

We worked with 6-10 teammates, including a solution architect, an AI/LLM engineer, an ML engineer, a full-stack developer, a DevOps engineer, a QA engineer, and a UI/UX designer.

How did you come to work with SoluLab?

We found them through a referral. We chose them over other options because of their high ratings.Three things decided it. First, their written solution approach showed they had actually thought about the fraud-detection problem, including scoring methodology, explainability, an-in-the-loop review, and a feedback loop, rather than just pricing a feature list back at me.Second, the team they put on the table covered the whole stack in one place. Third, their credentials. They hold CMMI Level 3, ISO 27001:2022, and SOC 2, which matters enormously when I’m asking an accounting firm to let a platform touch their QuickBooks data. I need to answer “who built this and how do they handle security?” with something more than a shrug.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

SoluLab delivered on schedule and within the fixed price we agreed on, with the full loop working end to end: a transaction gets flagged, the AI investigates it and explains its reasoning in plain English, an analyst approves or overrides, and the system captures that decision and learns from it.The outcome that matters most to me is that I can now walk into a room with a CPA firm and demonstrate all of that live rather than describing it on a slide — that is an entirely different conversation, and I didn’t have it before this engagement. The code, architecture documentation, and API reference came across clean enough that my next engineer can pick them straight up.We’re at the prototype stage by design, and pilot deployment against live client files is the next phase. I expect to come back and add hard numbers to this review once that has run.Although I don’t have quantitative results yet, the demo does end to end what it was scoped to do, and it’s in a state where I’m willing to put it in front of people, which wasn’t true before this engagement. Structured pilot feedback is the next phase.Moreover, the alert queue and case view are laid out the way an accountant actually works — the flag, the reason codes, and the written rationale sit in one place rather than making you click through three screens to reconstruct why something surfaced.On technical quality, the thing I value is that the layers are separated cleanly enough that swapping the scoring model or the underlying LLM later is a change rather than a rewrite. The handover documentation was complete enough that I could put another engineer on it without a knowledge-transfer call.

How did SoluLab perform from a project management standpoint?

SoluLab treated explainability as a requirement, not a nice-to-have. Anyone can produce a risk score; producing a score with reason codes and a plain-English narrative that a CPA can put in front of a client — and then letting an analyst override it, with the system learning from that override — is the entire product.They also had the discipline to argue me out of breadth. I wanted more scenarios in the first release; they insisted on one done convincingly end to end, and they were right.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The other thing that stood out was their security posture. It was there from the first sprint rather than bolted on at the end — role-based access separating administrators from analysts, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging on every action, and OWASP-aligned practices throughout. That matters more in my field than it might in most.I'm asking accountants to connect a platform to their clients' QuickBooks data, and if I can't answer “who built this and how do they handle that data?” with something specific, the conversation ends there. Having a partner with CMMI Level 3, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 behind them meant I could answer it.

Nothing further on execution. The overlap window is the only practical thing I’d flag, and it was manageable.

The app functioned without any glitches, and the SoluLab crew implemented many high-tech features such as decentralisation, smart contracts, and tokenisation functionality for seamless NFT creation and trading. These features attracted a vast number of users after going live.

We communicated with the project manager via Skype, which was efficient and structured. When we were in the intense beta phase, they used the kanban strategy and project management tools like Jira for detailing every item on the site and would update it in real-time using different colours so that we could be on the same page. Nowadays, these types of methodology and execution are rarely seen.

SoluLab has been an invaluable partner to us. They've walked us through the process, and the staff has been proactive, which is critical for a firm like ours. As newcomers to the blockchain realm, we appreciate that they approach the project from our point of view. They considered what we didn't know and our problems regarding the project, so they helped us understand all the intricacies. This impressed us the most about SoluLab.

We have worked with SoluLab before for few other blockchain specific projects. Obviously, we had a great experience earlier due to which we gave no second thought other than SoluLab in selecting our vendor.

We were able to host the website successfully. The whole project, despite so many things to be done, went smoothly. It was a completely hassle-free experience. We got delayed but that was due to complexity involved.

The project is still in the process. So far, we have not felt the need for any sort of improvement. They can strengthen up their design team a bit. But that's really subjective.

I’m the CEO of Y Coin, a cryptocurrency focused on democratic governance. We have a mobile application under development and are based in London.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with SoluLab?

We were trying to develop a cryptocurrency wallet application with governance. SoluLab said they could deliver this, so we engaged with them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially filled out the form on their website and received a message a couple of days later; they wanted to get on a call to discuss the specifications. After a brief call, they gave us the price, and once we agreed on the project cost, we signed the contract. A couple of weeks later, we started development.

We stated on the contract that they’d deliver mobile and web apps for desktop use with governance and earning features. The tech stack would be Node.js, React.js, ER20, Three.js, and React Native.

What is the team composition?

We had 12 people working on the project, including a product manager that was replaced. We also collaborated with another manager and several other team members.

How did you come to work with SoluLab?

We found them on Clutch. We wanted someone experienced with Blockchain mobile and web application development. After looking through the options and reviews, we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

We made a few minor additions after signing the scope, which increased the project cost from $55,000 to $57,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from July 2021–March 2022. However, they haven’t delivered the products, so we currently have a legal issue with them.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

We were working on development, and there were delays. The product was scheduled for September, but they messed up on the design side and the wireframes, so it took longer. Although we were expecting delays, there were also a lot of issues with their management. The project manager left and didn’t efficiently give all the details to the new project manager. He wasn’t professional about the transition, so the whole team forgot about the desktop side of the application.

As we looked at the wireframes and designs in November, we realized there weren’t any wireframes or designs for the desktop application. When we confronted them about it, they were confused about what we were referring to. After about a week of communication, they found out what happened and apologized, promising it’d be all done when completing the application.

How did SoluLab address the challenges that arose?

January was the next expected delivery date. When January arrived, we asked about the desktop application, but they said they’d allocated the resources to the mobile app and wouldn’t do the other one. We reminded them of their contractual obligations and spoke to the manager who had interacted with us from the start. He said he’d talk to his seniors and get back to us.

After weeks of waiting, communicating, and delaying, they got back to us in March, asking for another $25,000 to complete the desktop application. Since they were at fault, they were willing to pay 50%. Nonetheless, we explained that they were obligated to do the desktop app since it was in the contract, and it was their fault entirely for forgetting it. They took another month to get back to us, but they said they were willing to do it. However, by the time they finally got back, we no longer needed the application and had already paid the total amount for the desktop and mobile versions.

It was supposed to be a 50/50 split. Half of the $57,000 was supposed to go to the mobile app and the other half to the desktop. By the end of March, we told them we wanted them to finish the mobile app and receive a refund for the uncompleted resources. They said to me that a refund wasn’t possible at that stage, even though the contract stated that we were applicable for a refund. We didn’t want to proceed with the project, so they froze our mobile application and essentially blackmailed us into accepting their terms, or they wouldn’t finish the mobile app.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

We haven’t received a single functioning product even though we’ve paid the full amount. Currently, we have a legal issue because they’re breaching multiple terms of the contract.

This greatly impacted our business because we had a community on standby waiting for the applications in December. Due to their mishandling of resources and lack of professionalism, they delayed the project multiple times. We expected the first delay because some things weren’t correctly done. However, we expected it to be done by December, and it wasn’t. They postponed it to January, didn’t deliver, and said the final date would be February.

When February arrived, they said they needed another month to be 100% done. However, they froze the mobile development due to the missing desktop work. Since we’re a cryptocurrency community, all these delays have caused many communities to sell. We’ve already spent on financial planning, advertising, resources, and so on. We’ve had to reschedule and cancel our ad plans, which has had a significant negative economic impact on us.

How was project management handled?

They did very poorly. The developers were polite, but the management was disgraceful. When the previous manager passed the project on to the new one, he didn’t pass over all the details. When we confronted him about this, they argued with us for months, saying they wouldn’t do the desktop side. Any professional firm would agree with us because it was in the contract terms.

When they finally agreed, they decided to freeze the work on the mobile application, although we’d paid them the total amount. We essentially paid for nothing; we haven’t received any work. 

Once this happened, getting in contact with SoluLab became extremely difficult. They didn’t use proper grammar and were very informal in our email exchange. Moreover, they were reluctant to reach any sort of agreement, even though we’ve been lenient on the terms of the refund. They’re strict and unwilling to do a refund, persisting in delivering the desktop side even if we no longer require it. We’re entitled to a refund, so they’re breaching the contract.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

The design was decent, but the initial design was terrible. We spent hours and hours on calls until they finally got it right.

In what specific areas can they improve?

They need to improve on internal communication and transparency. The development was slow and unproductive, their management was terrible, and their smart contract didn’t deploy correctly. They signed it, but they didn’t agree to the terms, so now we’re stuck here with a breached contract.

Also, communication was informal. Each person on the team had a different idea of what the final product would be, and they didn’t have a clue about the desktop application. All in all, it was a terrible experience.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

I’d advise anyone looking at SoluLab to go to a similarly-priced firm in that category. SoluLab isn’t experienced, and you should definitely avoid their customer service.

The service provider responded on July 1st, 2022. 

We educated client about the mobile-first approach to keep an informational landing page and have Android and iOS mobile app links to download apps. We showed him top 5 crypto wallets using the same mobile-first strategy. When the client didn't agree with this, we accommodated his request to build a fully functional webapp. At that point, the client asked for a refund and walked out without completing the contract. We are still willing to complete the full project as per scope. It's unfortunate to see this outcome. 

We agree there was a delay in meeting the timeline but due to COVID19, several of our developers had to take medical leave and there were few instances where we were waiting for weeks for client feedback on designs and other dependencies to move forward with the development.

The team of SoluLab and NFTY worked closely to appropriately define the scope of the project and then lay out the action plan accordingly. This, in turn, gave us a very clear idea about the progress of work, deadlines for each of the steps, and the expected results.

The first step of the project was the discovery phase which included feature listing, developing wireframes, and creating user stories. The next step was creating the design which was done with a software known as Figma, a graphics editor and prototyping tool.

This was followed by the architecture setup, integration of design, development of smart contracts, and integration of API by using React Javascript. Finally quality analysis was done before the production deployment by using Kubernetes to run Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery (CICD) pipelines.

The decentralized staking platform was successfully built and it went live on the scheduled date with full functionality. But the development of the NFT platform is still ongoing which I hope will be another great success in a few weeks’ time.

Also, they work with the client to create solutions that are both technically and financially feasible. They deliver on time and within budget, with the best backend and frontend solutions and the greatest ROI.

Enabled with advanced technology knowledge and the best project management that creates the best ROI, we can't think of any improvements they need at this moment.

I'm co-founder and COO of E-Motive which is a decentralized automotive marketplace for buying and selling of vehicles.

SoluLab worked closely with E-Motive's team to define the scope and laid out the plan of action so all the parties involved have a clear idea of deadlines, targets, and expected results. The whole project was divided into 3 main stages Discovery, Development, and last Marketing. We were highly impressed by the way they conducted the discovery phase in scoping out industry insights and USPs that will help us become unique. The feature list was very clearly defined without stretching unnecessary functionalities and wireframes created for the platform were created keeping the best UX concepts in mind. In development, we witnessed top-notch expertise in execution and quickly resolving issues if came into existence. From marketing websites to whitepaper development, we were impressed in every aspect. And excited for the next and final marketing stage planned ahead with SoluLab.

Resources were procured for enabling of any concepts, we were always in continuous touch with the project manager. Along with the team consisting of 1 Business Analyst, 2 blockchain developers, and 1 digital marketing and content strategist.

The project is still in progress and now stepping into the marketing phase. Discovery and development done till now is no less a piece of perfection.

The communication between the E-Motive team and SoluLab has been clear and quick. Team members are always available for quick and long calls. We never felt a communication gap despite sitting in a separate country altogether.
