I needed a new website. I had been working with a Squarespace makeshift site for over a year and it was time for an upgrade. I wanted something that reflected the new branding but also helped my business strategy. I needed something that was user-friendly on the backend but looked clean and was easy to navigate on the front end.

I worked in the same co-working office as the SocialSurge team, so I already was familiar with their work. I knew working with them would be easy since we would be able to just pop into each other's offices if there was a question, instead of having to rely on emails back and forth. They also gave me an incredibly fair price. Plus, I had seen some of their previous work so I knew they would do a good job.

The scope of work was creating a net new WordPress website that predominately functioned as a blog. The team created a homepage, templates for different categories of blogs, an About us page, a contact page and a simplified merch store. They also set up Stripe payments so that I could receive donations. From start to finish it took them about 6 weeks to finish the project and have been very responsive with any questions or new requests that I have had.

I don't have any measurable outcomes because, as a one-person team, I am not measuring very much. But I can say that the user experience for all of the people who visit my site, on both desktops and mobile, now enjoy a much-imrpoved experience than they had previously. I was incredibly happy with the final product.

Project management was straightforward and casual. We would sync in one of our offices to talk through what had already been accomplished and what the next steps were. We predominantly used email and google doc to communicate since we were able to meet in person frequently.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

How quickly they were able to complete the project and how few glitches there were. Everything delivered basically worked perfectly by the deadline, and anything that needed to be tweaked was fixed immediately.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

My project was pretty straightforward, but the team absolutely nailed it. I would absolutely hire them again to do further enhancements on my site and would trust that, if and when I have the budget, they would be the right choice to manage my social media as well.
