## Portfolio & Awards

### Integrity Billing: Insurance Billing Made Easier
The Need
Insurance billing is a notoriously complicated process. When insurance is able to be verified ahead of time, patients can receive treatment without the stress of wondering if it will be covered by their plan.
The insurance specialists at Integrity Billing have been assisting their clients with this complicated process for a long time over the phone and through email, but they knew there had to be a way to streamline and speed up the process using software—they just didn’t have the technical expertise to understand how.
The Approach
After an on-site whiteboard session workshop where personas, workflow, and processes were discussed and analyzed, we gained a clearer picture how software could best help this niche service. Our UX Strategists observed users filling in the form, gaining valuable user insights that allowed us to refine the flow of the proposed designs.
The Solution
We created a web-based application that is powered by multiple data sources to give rapid results and provide real-time updates. There are two tiers to the platform—one that provides instant, yet limited information using several integrated, third-party APIs (called InstantVOB), and one that provides more thorough and detailed information via their insurance specialists. The system is capable of handling administrative reporting and automated subscription billing through Stripe. All processes are performed with a strong emphasis on security—the data that flows through this product is completely encrypted, both in transit and at rest.
The Impact

36% average reduction in verification times
49.1% decrease in client admin work
Dramatic increase in number of verifications performed monthly
92% decrease in human error
30% increase in internal employee productivity

### Alaris Check-In Experiences
The Need
Despite having an in-house development team, Alaris needed to outsource development of some advanced features in order to meet the needs of their customers.
The most pressing need was for an online appointment reservation system for their club's childcare programs. Also, their existing app was native to Android only, which limited their client base to solely Android users.
The Approach
Our team performed a Needs Analysis to compare their existing tools and capabilities with those of a better tool option or of a custom solution option. We also proposed our suggested custom cloud-based software solution and roadmap to completion.
In our Strategize phase, a few focus points emerged:

Plan for the long term. The custom solution would need to be sustainable for any future additions needed.
Increase accessibility. Alaris' clients were struggling to make changes to their accounts themselves, so the software UX would need to be addressed.
Eliminate tech debt. In order to accomplish #1, addressing and eliminating accumulated tech debt was a necessity.

The Solution
A two-prong approach was decided on to best address their needs. For the short-term, we created value for their customers quickly by building customized features on top of a more robust, 3rd party tool. Simultaneously, we began building a fully custom, cloud-based system that addressed all of their needs and provided long-term support.
A portal for the health club staff was created for them to review and edit customer reservations. This portal was built on a tech stack that will last and support new features as Alaris scales.
The Impact

Reduced time spent on administrative support tasks by 90%
Support requests overall reduced by 85%It’s now rare that the clubs’ staff need assistance from the Alaris support team to use the app.
Gained $50K recurring revenue from new customers within 1st year due to web-based capability

### Global Sportswear Brand: Proof of Concept App
We built a POC (Proof of Concept) for this global sportswear brand to prove that an enterprise app could integrate with their workflows and system.
The Need
The sportswear brand sought to transform their existing web-based B2B tool—a catalog for retailers and their sales reps to display new collections, order inventory, and plan for stock—into a mobile app. The business development team, however, expressed reservations about the app's relevance, its integration capabilities, and its security. A POC was needed to address these concerns and validate the potential of an app-based solution.
The Approach
We organized a workshop between executive leaders and sales personnel to facilitate conversation between departments that don’t normally communicate. Assumptions were challenged about what was needed for the POC software from a strategic, business perspective. We mapped out their sales process, identified the gaps, and saw where an app would be most useful for their pipeline.
The key realization: The biggest need was for existing retailers to easily reorder inventory.

Offline capability was a critical requirement as store managers may not always have internet access when reviewing inventory on the sales floor.
Save favorites for faster reordering.
Integration with the main system, because it didn't make financial sense to start completely over with new software. Integration would still provide enhanced portability.

The Solution
A POC native iOS app prototype was developed to demonstrate viability to stakeholders. This confirmed that an app-based solution could be successfully implemented, bridging identified gaps and integrating smoothly with their existing system. The app also had offline capability, offered an easy way to reorder favorite items, and synced data back to the system.
We also explored cross-platform development using Flutter, creating an app compatible with both iOS and Android.

### National Retail Company: UX Strategy and Design
A custom, user-friendly iOS app saved this company over $1MM annually (under NDA).
The Need
This company was using outdated software that was significantly hindering employees’ workflow. The software itself was expensive, clunky, crashed frequently, and was not ergonomic. Technicians had to use multiple devices to perform job duties as well as enter information manually. Training and labor costs were high; efficiency was low. The important work of building relationships was overshadowed by these issues.
The Approach
One of our UX Strategists shadowed three different technicians to learn their processes, identify their pain points, and see how they used their existing technology to get their work done. Then our designers used their expertise to identify the best ways to solve the company’s software issues with the most current development standards and UX practices. We determined that their software needed to focus on:

Integration of all necessary tasks into one easy-to-use interface
Design for automation, reducing human error by eliminating manual entry/spreadsheets.
Save technicians time so they can focus on relationship-building.

The Solution
A user-friendly iOS app was designed that solved the glaring issues in the client’s process and streamlined their workflow. The design for this app incorporated automation, which decreased the time devoted to administrative tasks and technician servicing. Now, instead of buying multiple devices for different tasks, the new iOS app can be downloaded and used on any iPhone.
The Impact

Savings of approximately $1MM annually
Drastic reduction in equipment costs
Significant reduction in technician servicing time and admin tasks
Nearly tenfold reduction in training time

### Xcite Automotive: Logistics and Marketing App
The Need
Xcite is a successful auto logistics and marketing startup whose clients are 1000+ dealerships nationwide (USA).
The success of their company brought them to a point where they saw a need for streamlining their processes and reducing their 3rd party costs through utilizing custom software.
The Approach
Our UX Strategists shadowed their employees in NYC and Chicago and studied their existing processes, gaining a clear understanding of their needs. Through our Strategize phase, we were able to identify and prioritize these areas of focus:

Statusing of vehicles.
Transparent reporting.
Streamline client communication.

The Solution
We designed an Android-native app capable of offline operation that was streamlined to assist field reps and reduce their workload. We also  developed a cloud-native platform that integrates with various third-party inventory management systems and APIs.
After launching the software, we initiated a feedback loop between our developers and the users for continuous improvement. To date, the software has been successfully deployed in over 1000+ dealerships.
The Impact

75% decrease in photo upload time per vehicleDealerships are able to see their vehicle photos live on their website 3 hours faster.
~1.5 hour savings per rep, per dealership, per dayThe seemingly modest savings of 3 minutes per vehicle becomes significant when multiplied by 20-30 cars per rep, per dealership, every single day.
Simplified task completion with fewer button clicks and stepsEliminating the need to switch between apps and manually enter information streamlines the process.
100% positive reception among new hiresNew employees who were trained using both systems say the custom app is more intuitive and easier to learn.
Automated reports eliminated miscommunicationThe data trail created by email reports has eliminated confusion among management.

### OUTO.ME: Easy Food & Beverage Ordering for Hotels
The Need
Boutique hotels and resorts distinguish themselves by providing guests with quality food and drink, upscale spa amenities, and convenient room service to create a luxurious and bespoke experience. But Covid 19 shook the hospitality industry as people became concerned with safety and demanded contactless experiences. In addition, staffing issues brought on by the pandemic created an overwhelmed workforce who were still held responsible for providing an exclusive guest experience. OUTO.ME was looking to address these needs with a software solution.
The Approach
We conducted interviews with industry experts—Food & Beverage Directors, Managers of Hospitality, Hotel Food & Beverage Consultants, and more—all to determine what was needed and what could elevate the experience for guests. The online ordering system was created using the insights gained from these conversations, and it was tested in sample groups with a pilot program in Napa Valley, Hawaii, and Texas.
The Solution
Our team designed and developed a web-based ordering app that was as easy for resorts and hotels to set up as it was for guests to use.
Guests could simply scan the QR code on the sign and order their food and drinks right from the pool, hot tub, tennis courts, or even their room—all without needing to download or sign up for anything.
The Impact

Food and beverage sales doubled at one resort within 4 months of using the app by their pool area, despite losing 2 staff members and having no dedicated servers for that area.
40% decrease in staffing needs as reported by another resort.
$10k in sales within 90 days with less staff as reported by a spa resort that uses OUTO.ME for their pool area
More tips for the staff as expressed by staff members who commented on an increase in their tips when guests order their food and drinks through the app.
