My goals was to achieve a front page placement for my keywords, eg. 'Mastering Melbourne".

I knew of Harris the Account Director for SIXGUN and during a discussion we came to the idea that SEO would be a great marketing tool for my business.

The planning stage was quite simple on my side. I had to brainstorm as many key words or phrases I could think of and come up with as many competitors as I could find.

After that, the SIXGUN team. researched my competitors and the keywords I had given them and cam up with a location based strategy to target the different keywords in certain territories. Upon implementation, the SIXGUN team overhauled the architecture of my website and input new copy on to pages that were previously dormant.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Yes, I am now within the top 3 of most of my important keywords and my exposure to clients is realised by the amount of new work and clients I have taken on.

Seamless. We spoke on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis and I would receive a monthly detailed written report on exactly what work had been done.

I was most impressed by the accuracy of their expectations, and their management of my expectations.

We wanted to introduce new customers to our site and also engage our current customers, which included increasing online sales, improving our digital footprint, and producing better data requirements for increased analytics. We wanted to utilize our ad-spend on different platforms.

A friend of mine recommended six SEO management teams. I contacted each one and provided them with all of my details. Out of all the proposals, I appreciated SIXGUN’s enthusiasm, professionalism, and knowledge of our industry, as well as their own.

We’ve spent 190,000 AUD (approximately $130,000 USD).

We started working together in November 2018, and our work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They were quick to do an entire overhaul of our SEO and analytics and began working on fixes immediately. The team also advised us on how to increase our content efforts. Additionally, they provide information about brand linking, which increases our online traffic.

How did SIXGUN perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is excellent. Harris is passionate, official, patient, and knowledgeable. They provide monthly updates as well. Overall, it’s just been exceptional.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their attitude towards my business is outstanding. It feels like they’re a part of our working family. They’re professional, and their ethics are second to none. No issue is too small or too large. The team is always able to assist.

No, not at all. I’m completely blessed to work with them. Other teams have provided minimal results in years compared to what SIXGUN has done for us in eighteen months.

I am the General Manager at Peter Sheppard Footwear, a footwear retailer with stores in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. We also operate online, facilitated by staff at our Head Office in Melbourne. The company has approximately 100 staff across the three physical locations and online store.

Our online store only launched approximately two years ago and thus, it was driving less than 5% of overall business revenue for some time. As a relatively small Head Office team, we did not have the resources to manage our own SEO and Google Ads efforts. However, we knew the importance of having these in today's retail climate.

What were your goals for this project?

The main objective was to increase new customers to the website, remarket to existing customers, increase online sales and therefore increase overall revenue for the business. The average customer at Peter Sheppard Footwear is between 40-65 years old and we found these customers were not used to shopping online with us.

We needed to educate customers that were using the internet that Peter Sheppard Footwear is a great company to shop online with. We also needed to start marketing to a younger demographic to combat the challenge we were facing marketing online to our older demographic. We already knew a lot of our potential customers were younger and shopped online, so it was a matter of reaching them and offering them our product and brand experience.

How did you select this vendor?

As a business who relies on the power of word of mouth, we were referred to SIXGUN by another marketing professional in the industry. SIXGUN were young at the time we started working with them but what what they lacked in years they made up for in professionalism and quality.

The team at SIXGUN had also come from a retail business so they knew the ins and outs of the industry. They spoke our language and were able to help identify goals and subsequently meet them. SIXGUN are also fantastic communicators and have always been completely transparent with us.

SIXGUN identified several areas of potential for Peter Sheppard Footwear (PSF)

1. SEO - There was insufficient content on the website which was impacting our ranking on search engines. SIXGUN have facilitated the writing of content for the website which has had a significant impact on the overall positioning of PSF. SIXGUN wrote the content and it was up to our in house team to proof and make any amendments. As the portfolio of brands evolved, SIXGUN identified the importance of keeping the content up to date.

2. Remarketing - SIXGUN have executed many remarketing campaigns for the business since starting work for PSF. These campaigns are run across Google, Facebook and most recently, Bing.

3. Brand awareness - SIXGUN have executed many brand awareness campaigns that have helped build the PSF audience and bring new customers into the business. SIXGUN manages all the campaigns, budgeting and reporting on the work they do for PSF.

We work closely with two members of the SIXGUN team, our Account Manager and Google Ads Specialist. I believe there are 2-3 more members who assist on the SEO front and day to day running of our account. The size of the team has grown slightly since we have worked with SIXGUN.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Since working with SIXGUN we have seen a significant increase in overall online revenue (over 50%). They have opened up many doors of opportunity for Peter Sheppard Footwear. Our conversion rate has also significant improved. It is worth noting that during the period of COVID-19 where the stores were closed, they were able to successfully help bring many of our 'in store customers' online to ensure there were no lost opportunities due to the store closures.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our Account Manager Harris is excellent at communication. He is on the ball, always very transparent with the work SIXGUN are completing and where we are at from a budget vs. results point of view. Our Ads Specialist Jeremy is also a fantastic worker, always very thorough when explaining and brainstorming his ideas. A weekly WIP and consistent email messaging in the meantime was ample communication between SIXGUN and PSF to ensure tasks got completed.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The communication skills of all individuals at SIXGUN are noteworthy. Their hard work and commitment to ensuring our business succeeds in the realm of digital marketing is also next to none. They are a small business who specialises in marketing for small businesses which I think is their real point of difference.

They understand small budgets and ensure we get the best bang for buck across every avenue of our marketing. Lastly, their location in the city is close to our Head Office and they never hesitate to stop by for a face to face meeting.
