Overall, the project management has been good. The responsiveness has been good and their ability to come up solutions to problems that come up is top notch. The team's ability to understand my vision and to execute on it has been a big help. The team's ability and availability to answer questions is also appreciated. Unfortunately, the project was not completed when I was told it would be. That delivery date for the completion of the project was pushed back several months and required many more story points than predicted previously. Despite this setback, they devised a method by which I could beta test the app a few months prior to the apps completion by bypassing the uploading to the App Stores. The team has also been accommodating with my own setbacks I've experienced throuoit the process, which was appreciated.

Our strategy was to get our MVP up in the quickest and efficient way so we remain agile and responsive. In addition, the backend development will improve internal efficency and allow for company scalability at ease. Singular offered a low code/no code solution at a near shore location making it our optimal choice when choosing our partner.

The Airtable interface wasn't as user-friendly as we had hoped, and we found the data setup versus how we can internally use it confuing. It would be helpful to have had that conversation earlier before the set up started, so we would have more adjust expectations of how we could use the backend.

The Singular team has done an outstanding job helping define app architecture, feature priorities and refinement to meet our goals, timeline, and budget of first having an MVP beta experience that evolves to a scalable App Store release.

I have worked with many development teams and the people and approach from Singular is one of best development relationships I have experienced. What can take months to get a team in sync only took weeks for the Singular team to understand our prototype concept to then begin working quickly to delivery amazing results in only 2-3 sprints, with continued momentum and excellence thereafter. The team communicates effectively, is extremely well organized, and is just an all around pleasure to work with!

Becoming a subject matter expert quickly is difficult for anyone starting a new project. The Singular workshops help their team grasp the details of a project quickly, some aspects could use more time refining features details and grooming before a sprint starts, however that burden falls mostly on the client in our scenario to provide clarity and education where development is unique to our project and specific industry.

There's great transparency of whats going on and the cost through their platform singular stories, however it can be challenging to see the cost of adding new features going forward. We had one feature I didn't realize wasn't in the initial scope (totally on me) and it wasn't made clear what a massive scope change and effect on the price this addition would have. 

So maybe a formalized process around major scope changes and associated costs would be nice. That being said I still feel they are providing great value for the work.

One of the developers we hired to programm our software desappeared and the other one did not have the capabilities for maintaining all together. We hired Singular to help us take control of the software, document everything correctly and do whatever change we needed for the software to work right. Singular designed and prepared everyghing in Google Cloud Plattform to deploy there our software.

They managed to get to get to know the code know the code (developed by someone else), get control of the code, they transfered everything to Github (they orgnized all the pull and merge requests for new branches of code), they arranged all the code the right way, they made the code work right and then designed and prepared everyghing in Google Cloud Plattform to deploy the software. We had a project for testing and a production project.

They also helped us document all the software using Swagger and showed us how to use it for doing testing without using Postman. Finally they handed the software to other developers who are taking care now of the maintenance of the software now that everything is working right and well documented.

The software has been working fine for a few months now and were able to hand the software to the other developers very transparently and organized.

Singular was hired to build our first in-house technology product from ideation to launch. This product is a mobile and web-based solution that manages a fleet of iOT devices and related services. Singular spent considerable time and care empathizing with and understanding the problems users of related applications have today, which is critical to building technology that genuinely matters. 

They used this empathy and knowledge, as well as the curated vision we had to solve these problems, to design and test an experience that well-exceeded our expectations. Meanwhile, every team member treats you with the upmost of respect and genuinely cares about generating results for you. We are 6 months into this project and we're almost done building the MLP! 

This project was not easy by any means; the MLP itself represents an innovation in our industry and was a project unlike any undertaken by Singular before. I am very proud of this team for a product soon to be measured in results.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Full understanding of and empathy for the problems users of our solutions face. Incremental design progress that lead to a fully designed mobile and web app experience. Incremental build progress that is leading to a fully built MLP product contacting mobile and web app experiences. 

All of this is measured via Singular Stories, their product management platform, where each ticket's acceptance criteria must be met and verified via proof that is uploaded by each team member responsible for the ticket. This system ensures the value you agree to build each sprint will get built; kind of the ultimate value transparency.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Project management was excellent; my product owner on the team has been an excellent resource for managing all the complex needs and requests that had to be completed throughout this process. He has been highly communicative/responsive to the huge number of needs we've had and handled them gracefully and quickly. 

Going into the project, we had an aggressive goal to complete the project in an earlier timeframe, but every delay that happened was caused by factors external to Singular. Their ability to easily adapt to external factors that modified how we will access certain key data for our experience, and still be able to produce the executed vision quickly and with a smile on their faces, has been one of the most valuable parts of the Singular experience to date.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

At first impression back in January 2023, what impressed me most about Singular (and what I thought was most unique) was that you created your own project management platform using the technologies that you also deploy for your clients. 

I could see based on reviews that you had a history of delivering a full-suite agile development team to build new software products from scratch, and the fact that you had a fully functioning, and fairly complex, project management platform driving all of this innovation was the driving factor to choosing Singular over other companies that do similar technical builds. 

6 months into the project, I would say that your implementation of agile, and the team members you've hired to fill those agile roles, is really what is most impressive and unique about Singular. I have worked at several SaaS companies in PM roles and have learned plenty about how agile teams work at some of the "best" companies in the world, and I think Singular is better. 

Aside from the fact that your implementation of agile leads to measurable results that far exceed the abilities of most agile teams, there is an additional human element that Singular gets right (and very few companies do get right); they truly empathize and care about what they are creating and building every day. 

Team members are engaged and excited to provide results for you, which to me signals an excellent culture at Singular with employees who are treated right and excited to perform their craft to create and build. To me, there is no other kind of organization I would care to support more than one that does right by its employees while also simultaneously exceeding expectations time and time again. The system works!

Are there any areas for improvement or something Singular Design could have done differently?

The only area I believe could be improved is transparency around SP estimations. Generally this wasn't a problem as most tickets were reasonably sized SP-wise, and those estimates also seemed reasonable. But I think for certain tickets that get to higher story point estimates (like 15-20+), if there is a way to explain the need to assign that higher workload to that item, that could help in certain situations.
