I'm an IT analyst at Unilever, a global company that produces and sells consumer goods, including food, beverages, cleaning products, and personal care items. We own well-known brands like Dove, Knorr, Lipton, and OMO, and we operate in over 190 countries.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with SimpleDev?

We needed to reduce the time spent on a single process and, therefore, reduce costs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

SimpleDev developed an AI system that helped our ice cream R&D team decrease the amount of time spent analyzing competitors' ice cream formulations. After a few months, SimpleDev delivered an AI system that recognized the ingredients Unilever should use to attain similar results by submitting a few of Unilever's ice cream competitors' nutrition facts labels. This process took around three months when conducted by human beings, but now it takes around 15 minutes with SimpleDev's system.

We found SimpleDev through a recommendation. We chose them because we received positive feedback from our coworkers and the platform where we found them.

We worked together from May 2021–June 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

SimpleDev's system was so successful that even Unilever's headquarters in England reached out to us in Brazil to roll it out globally. This system was created way before the AI boom, and some huge companies wanted to charge us around €200,000 (approximately $210,000 USD) to develop the system, but SimpleDev charged us around €10,000 (approximately $10,500 USD) only.

The project was a major success, and I'm personally proud that the company chose SimpleDev over other vendors.

How did SimpleDev perform from a project management standpoint?

SimpleDev's project management was perfect. They delivered on time. We communicated via Teams calls, email, and WhatsApp.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with SimpleDev's ability to think outside the box. This solution was built from scratch way before AI was a thing.

I don't think there's anything SimpleDev can improve on.
