SHIFTA was engaged by Quinttos to establish and develop a robust UX team, embedding user experience (UX) practices within an existing and rapidly evolving product development team. The key objective was integrating UX capabilities seamlessly, ensuring that the development workflow continued without interruption while enhancing strategic product decision-making and freeing developers from design responsibilities.

One area for improvement was identifying earlier in the process the need to also enhance the liaison capabilities between the UX and development teams. While SHIFTA effectively built the UX team, recognizing and addressing sooner the role of an internal bridge or coordinator could have further improved collaboration and efficiency in our workflow.

PROTOTYPE FOR ITERATING THE RESULTING SOLUTION 
Following the Discovery activities with the CVPBA, a simple and personalized mobile application emerged as a valuable solution. The concept of the app is DIGITAL COMMUNITY OF VETERINARIANS and aims to restore the sense of belonging that is currently being lost with the decline in in-person interactions, while also accommodating the new professional networking modes. 

The app will provide resources and solutions for the needs of veterinarians identified earlier and will integrate resources from the self-management portal. 

In collaboration with the CVPBA, we decided to create an interactive prototype to gather user opinions on this solution derived from the discovery phase. This prototype will also help assess the app's usability and gather feedback for further iterations. 

DELIVERABLES: 

• Final Interactive Prototype: To be showcased at the CVPBA International Conferences. 
• Survey and User Tracking: To capture feedback, integrated into the prototype in Maze. 
• Feedback Report: Documenting the results of the interactive prototype feedback.

Two projects were undertaken, both following a detailed roadmap from the start. The roadmap was strictly adhered to in both projects. 

Discovery Project: 
We held weekly meetings. In the first project, these included virtual collaborative meetings and one in-person session where SHIFTA team members facilitated collaborative strategy and ideation activities. 

Design and Prototype Construction Project: 

• We conducted design and content validation meetings for the prototype. 
• This project had a very tight deadline from the beginning. The prototype was intended for presentation at an international event organized by us, with only 4 weeks allocated for its development. 
• Timely delivery of the product was crucial for its presentation at the International Conference of the College of Veterinarians of Buenos Aires and for conducting feedback collection and prototype testing. 
• In both projects, the project leader was responsive to our requests and needs, adapting to our schedules and addressing all inquiries promptly.

I’m the co-founder and CEO of Qurable.

What challenge were you trying to address witH SHIFTA?

As a small startup, we needed to strengthen our development capabilities. We decided to focus on frontend development while outsourcing the backend. SHIFTA helped us with that. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

SHIFTA helped us develop web modules integrated with our technologies. They used React and Bionic frameworks, focusing only on the frontend and connecting it to our backend using APIs. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with 3–5 developers. One of them was a UX expert, and one was a product manager that served as our main point of contact. The manager worked directly with our CTO. 

How did you come to work with SHIFTA?

SHIFTA was referred to us by another CTO. Apart from that, our co-founders were based in Argentina, where SHIFTA had a great reputation for working on agile development. Additionally, we selected them because they had a distributed team. This worked well for us because they were close to us but had the ability to work with our remote teams.  

How much have you invested with them?

We invested between $30,000–$35,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement lasted from May–September 2022. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our user base grew steadily, reaching around 7,000 users per month. SHIFTA’s work quality was great. There were no delays in the project, and the team met all of our requests. 

How did SHIFTA perform from a project management standpoint?

SHIFTA’s project management was great. If we had a similar project, we’d choose to work with them again. The sprints were delivered on time; the project’s setup took some time, but it was a complex process. Their resources adjusted to our pace of work, and after the first two weeks of engagement, everything moved forward smoothly. We used Git for sharing code and Discord and emails for communication. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed by their flexibility and technical skills. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could have helped us more with the onboarding process. The onboarding time took longer than expected, and both our teams could’ve done something to make that part more efficient. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I suggest you listen to their recommendations. For context, SHIFTA’s product manager played a key role in the engagement, and he made interesting proposals.

We decided to contract Shifta for two reasons: your expertise in building mobile apps experience and for the velocity to allocate the team to work together to our CTO, based on Spain.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We increase the tech team productivity as a result of the quality of additional resources. We get a positive impact on our organizational goal, thanks to their commitment to reaching milestones and deliverables within the agreed-upon timeline.

I was very effective. I would highlight the regular and clear communication and processes that helped streamline the workflow and minimize misunderstandings or delays. And finally, the Team dynamics: They were a positive and supportive team during the whole project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

One of the things that impressed me was their diverse and inclusive team with a wide range of skills and expertise, also their innovative approach to software development. Another important thing for this project was the time zone. The entire team works in four different time zones without friction.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Probably the last mile of delivery, every demo day we have had setup problems, this improved in the last sprint. Probably all of us as a team in the next project should be more in sync.

I am the founder of a GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) startup. We have developed a delivery framework and applications to help customers address the complexity of implementing programs in the GRC space.

We hired SIFTA to develop the application, having a clear vision but no implementation capabilities. The application is simple in scope, but is implemented using graph databases, for which we could not find any developers with experience. Our goal was to generate o proof of concept that would demonstrate that the applications could support our delivery framework.

Our goal was to have implementation support with a partner that could understand the problem and then find a way to implement our vision without previous experience in the technology.

The proof of concept was a risk management web app that included simple governance and reporting functionalities. It was built in C#, .Net and a Neo4j Database. The app was deployed as a docker container.

We were able to finish on-time, with SHIFTA not only solving technical issues but also providing insights on the best way to implement what we needed.

Their implementation has worked flawlessly since then (7 months). We just started developing the MVP version of the App with SHIFTA, with the feedback gathered from customer implementations.

I work as General Director of Innovation of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, from where we seek to solve problems through technology to improve the lives of the city's residents.

The experience was very positive, to the point that in 2022 we are going to carry out 2 new editions of the program.

We used Microsoft Teams, MS Project and they were very tidy, keeping track of everything and sending after meeting notes and doing follow up.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We trusted Shifta because we found ourselves a company made up of responsible and empathetic professionals. They were capable of putting themselves in the client's shoes and always finding the best way to add value, working with an excellent predisposition and flexibility to adapt to the dynamism that the context demands.
