We actually needed a developer to help us with parcel sorting line visualization design and VR simulation development. Ou goal is to teach our new employees how to pick up parcels from a semi-trailer and place them on a sorter properly and efficiently.

Three apps for the HTC Vive were developed three for the HTC Vive, which simulate a workstation with specific directions and locations. In the first app, their team configured the conveyor to perpendicular training simulator with three different speeds for the three different stages of training. In the second app, their developers configured created the "semi-trailer to the telescopic sorter" training simulator with features that only allow parcels of a certain size and shape to be placed.

They also created a special bucket for all irregular and untypical parcels and parcels longer than 150 cm inside in the simulation. They programmed a report generator at the end of each stage with the number of mistakes made and a confirmation if they can proceed to the next stage. They also implemented an aggregated report generator that shows the number of parcels that have been sent incorrectly and on the number of parcels that have been the number of parcels passed through.

We fully implemented the apps in our organization and built a special training room for them, and planned on follow-up VR training sessions. We used the apps not only for training but for recruitment purposes.

We were looking for a Unity expert to build a simulator to visualize the driver's eye-gaze on the interior of a vehicle. The model should visualize the driver’s eye-gaze on regions of interest (e.g. rearview mirror, center windshield etc.) from an input file: the model needs to take in eye-gaze vector coordinates and 6DoF head-pose and output a visual rendering of the driver's eye-gaze (like a ray from the eye). The car never moves and it’s for internal research purposes so the texture / assets can be low fidelity (Virtual Eye-Gaze Simulator for Copilot Technology).

We searched on Upwork for Unity developers or service providers and shortlisted 6. After interviewing all of them, we’ve chosen Servreality as their previous experience was the most relevant, their rate was within our expectations, they showed high level of professionalism during negotiation phase.

There were two main milestones:

1. Architecture design and implementation, Scene setup, Input data parsing developed, Head movement control developed
2. Eyes movement control, Ability to pause, Stats display
