Our company engaged the vendor to perform a comprehensive smart contract audit for our Web3 payment processing platform - web3.b2binpay.com. The main objective of the project was to ensure the security, reliability, and correctness of our on-chain logic, including the deposit and withdrawal modules, multi-signature flow, and deterministic address generation mechanisms.

This was not our first collaboration with the team. We had previously worked with them on another smart contract audit and were very satisfied with the depth of their analysis and their ability to uncover non-obvious edge cases that only come with experience in blockchain security. Because of that successful experience, we decided to return to them again for this new engagement.

The scope of work included a full manual code review, static analysis, vulnerability assessment, and detailed reporting with recommendations for remediation. The vendor also provided follow-up consultations after the report delivery to clarify findings and confirm the fixes.

The task was to assist Roonyx with the backend of software used for predictive analysis in banking applications. Our internal team handled the frontend, and Serokell took charge of the entire backend (incl. algorithms, databases, servers, and API development)

Ground up re-write of our core instrument control software for a new platform. Initially, the instrument control software for our spectrometers was written in Python, had evolved from prototype quality code, and was now around 10 years old. Over time, as we needed to support new functionality, we encountered issues supporting the legacy code, and were about to begin work on a new product platform. This presented an opportunity to re-evaluate our tech stack.
In the end, we felt that moving to a statically typed language with a strong type system would pay off, even if it meant the solution would need to to be developed from scratch. And Serokell was ready to write such one using Rust. Additionally, we faced challenges with the UX/UI. At this juncture, a Serokell designer stepped in. 
Working together with our product team, Serokell created a user-friendly interface for our platform, which we continue to refine and develop together. This is an ongoing project, and we're utilizing an Agile approach to development. Our collaboration with Serokell began in January 2023, and we intend to continue it into 2024. 
Serokell is handling a specific portion of our project: they are assisting us in rewriting/porting the instrument control software in Rust and Typescript while also assisting in the design of the UI/UX. The completion date for this part of work is the end of the year, but we plan to continue the development as there are more features planned in our roadmap.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

This is an on-going project, but we have already hit many software release milestones including successful customer demos. We are now running the new software on a daily basis in our own lab and are getting closer to being feature complete enough to ship beta units to early adopter customers. Serokell has exceeded our expectations in their ability to flex and respond to our evolving requirements, which included a full UI overhaul half way through the project.

As stated in the section above, they definitely were responsive, especially in light of our requirements sometimes evolving. Also, in two cases, we have had good engineers that were not a great fit for the project, due to domain knowledge or just cultural fit, and they responded promptly to our concerns by providing others that worked out great. They are a full service solution, which makes our development process much easier. 
Ultimately, we were responsible for the overall task management, while Serokell was a dedicated team to support and speed up the practical realization of our innovative ideas. That said, Serokell also brought their own project management best practices to the effort, which was helpful to the overall management of the project.

Serokell has deep technical expertise in writing quality software, by using strongly typed languages that help you avoid certain classes of bugs and poor engineering practices from the start. This is not so common in the world of outsourced dev shops. These guys are smart and at the top of their game, and furthermore care about their craft. Ask why something was done this way and you will get a well thought out answer, no quick and dirty solution with layers of tech debt that you will discover later down the road after the contract has been completed. 
Together, we're creating an absolutely unique and pioneering product in the spectroscopy market. Our technology and team are among the leading in the world in our field. This is deep science and we are the first to commercialize this technique. We need a flexible and well-educated team to understand our requirements and turn them into working software. 
We also needed to execute our vision on a very tight deadline for funding reasons. Serokell is the team that meets our needs and expectations and continues to be responsive as our requirements evolve real time based on early customer feedback.

At the beginning, we faced some challenges in aligning our expectations. We had hoped for a faster start to the process, but we understand that with our unique and niche requirements, grasping our vision can be complex.
