I’m the IT director for the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID). We conduct large-scale clinical research worldwide, most often in low-resource settings. Our goal is to advance in terms of finding a cure for infectious diseases with local outcomes and global health outreach.

Our main challenge was to reduce the number of duplicate participant enrollments. We also wanted to eliminate multiple fraudulent occurrences in the system and prevent redundant payments to the participants. Additionally, we wanted to ensure we had a clean data set for global research standards.

What was the scope of their involvement?

SATVA Softech provided custom software development for us. We initially presented our problem to them, and we discussed what would be a good solution. The team created a healthcare solution from scratch to ensure we met all of our objectives in a timely manner. SATVA Softech also helped us streamline patient outcomes and registration across multiple trials.

The team used multiple languages, including PHP and HTML. They also used third-party applications to connect things and address interoperability issues. For example, we had a biometric system that needed to talk to an external device and an internal program, so SATVA Softech required a bunch of APIs to make that work.

We worked with 10–15 teammates from SATVA Softech, including a project manager, a lead developer, and a lead customer success manager. We also worked with other developers, solution architects, and a QA engineer.

Our duplicate registrations dropped by over 98%. We also eliminated almost all of the fraud and issues we were having with enrollments and compensation. Our annual enrollment numbers and visits went up across all the sites, and we saw a 15%–25% increase in enrollment.

SATVA Softech’s team was outstanding. Their communication was great, which was one of their strongest suits. The team was very easy to communicate with and handled issues proactively. Despite all the challenges, they were able to meet tight deadlines.

We had multiple time zones, with teams in the US and other parts of the world. SATVA Softech also had teams all over the world. It was impressive that they were able to work with us despite the multiple time differences and deliver things on time.

We communicated via emails, virtual meetings, and messaging apps. For virtual meetings, we used Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Based on their experience, SATVA Softech was able to provide real-world solutions, especially for areas with constrained resources. They provided us with an enterprise-grade platform. The team worked with us as partners, not just clients, so there was a personal touch to the way they did things with us.

SATVA Softech was able to be flexible and adapt to our emerging changes as the project evolved. They handled our problem impressively and understood the scope of the project. The team read into things that we couldn’t clearly state, which was nice. Their project manager was very approachable, communicative, and available anytime we needed them to be available, which was a plus for us.

Nothing much. The execution went very well, and we got really good value for what we wanted. I would use them again in the future.

Be willing to listen to some of their input. You might have a solution in mind that you think will work, but SATVA Softech will advise you on a different approach to your problem that will work better than what you thought, because they have experience in delivering products in multiple areas.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Satva Softech could have done differently?

I think everything went very smoothly. I don't really have any suggestions for Satva to improve. I was amazed at the speed and quality of the work but also how their PM understood my needs (sometimes more than I understood them myself) and gently guided me through all the possible options. Their commitment to making me feel comfortable through a complicated process is something more businesses should strive to achieve.
