Sailing Byte was contacted to create a dedicated, scalable system for processing a large amount of data from Allegro, the biggest online retail e-commerce platform in Poland, for our users. Each user of ProfitBoard is a seller on Allegro who uses the internal ads system to improve revenue. Because users can have multiple shops and accounts, and not all data from ads is properly calculated, there was a requirement for a centralized location to combine and calculate these values. 

Sailing Byte's job was to create such a system, implement the necessary calculations for ads revenue, and gather all the data in one place. Additionally, due to the large amount of data, the system needed to have vertical scalability so that more shops would not create problems for the system.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I believe that the main measurable outcome was the ability to connect my production Allegro shop to the system and have properly calculated ad values compared to my Excel file calculations. Another measurable outcome was that more than 300 stores could be connected and have their statistics data downloaded, which proved vertical scalability.

At the beginning, we had business meetings, and later on, they also helped with the business side of the project, not just the technical part. They created a dedicated Asana board where all the tasks were grouped and placed. They also explained how Agile methodologies work. We met quite often, usually once every two weeks, to review progress. Additionally, they created a dedicated communication channel, even though I was using a different communication tool than theirs.

We had some delays with delivering items connected to the Allegro API, although they were addressed as soon as possible. Essentially, we then progressed smoothly to an ongoing Scrum project and are still using Asana.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

There were at least two things I found unique: they not only focused on developing the application but also challenged my business idea, approaching the project holistically. The second unique aspect was their actual agility. They react promptly when unexpected changes require a shift in the project's approach and data connection, both in server-side management and API connection.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Sailing Byte could have done differently?

It would have been better if they had been able to deliver the project faster, that's for sure.

The cooperation has been going on for more than a year now, which creates objective conditions for its evaluation. I am very satisfied with the cooperation and this evaluation can be broken down to different levels such as the organization of work, communication tools with the client giving the opportunity to communicate to set tasks and test results and record the stages of implementation of all outsourced tasks.

Adequate tools for communication, for tracking the progress of the tasks, a testing environment to test the application and the changes, additions that are made. Communication is efficient, fast, a person does not feel disregarded, on the contrary, here the customer is the center of attention.

You can see commitment in the approach to your affairs, and especially when your matter is urgent or critically important. In this business, the choice of the right partner for the development of custom IT solutions is crucial to the success of a project or business.

Sailing Byte were hired to provide ongoing and long term support for the development and provision of cloud based technology services for Cambridge University Press. This included LEMP stack development, hosting and CMS (Joomla) provision. Sailing Byte have provided long term support across a number of realms, including PEN testing, server support and triage, hosting, creative development, experience design and game development.

We required help with initial development tasks, which turned into a longer trusted business relationship.
