Ruby has created a new website from scratch based on the two branches of SPOT - our festival and our industry part, SPOT+. In addition, the website should also be able to accommodate the other projects that SPOT works on throughout the year. 

Ruby has built a website with a consistent identity, which can run across the festival's other expressions over the years, and which has the possibility of being modified for the different focus areas. The website is built with a mobile-first approach. The key areas that Ruby has helped develop are: 

• A page for artist presentations that, in addition to images, text and links to social media, also contains a feature with music from the artist. 
• A front page with a logical and clear division of our various areas
• A new universe for our industry part, SPOT+, where seminars, panelists and partners are presented in a logical way.
• A timetable for all our concerts, which both presents the individual stages and artists in a logical and clear way for our audience

• The website haven't been online for that lon so we don't have any mesurable outcomes yet, but we have had a lot of great feedback from both audiences and partners

I am the owner of a consulting company providing services within the quality area in the pharmaceutical industry.

The company website was created almost ten years ago and had become outdated. We hired Ruby Studio to develop and implement a totally new website design for the company, including a new logo. In addition, Ruby Studio should be responsible for the future support and maintenance of the website.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had Ruby Studio recommended and after having reviewed other websites they had designed, we met with the team who seemed very skilled and experienced. At the meeting and by the offer we received from Ruby Studio afterwards, we were convinced that they understood the purpose and scope for the new website design very well.

At the first meeting, the purpose and scope for the website was discussed and we presented our company as background information for the project. The dialoque was very good and helped us to outline the requirements for the new website.

Ruby Studio made the first draft to the website design; this also included a new logo for the company, and with only a few changes this was the final design we ended up with. After test of the final website design, Ruby Studio was responisble for the full implementation. Ruby Studio is still responsible for support and maintenance of the website.

I worked mainly with the project manager, who was also contact person to the web designers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I was pleased with the result of the cooperation with Ruby Studio. The final design has more than met my expectations. The design reflect the company very well and this shows that Ruby Studio fully understood the goal with the new website. I have had a very positive respons to the website from customers and others in my network, who knows the company.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very effective and Ruby studio complied to the timelines agreed in the plan including the deadline for final implementation. In addition, Ruby Studio was helpfull and supportive regarding the material/texts that we should deliver. It was easy to communicate during the project, either by phone or email.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team at Ruby Studio is very easy to work with. I really appreciated how they respected my goal and purpose with the new web site, but still presented me for other/better solutions during the design process. That made me fell very comfortable in the working process.

I am leading the central banks program.

For what projects/services did your company hire Ruby Studio, and what were your goals?

As part of our central banks program; we wanted to reach out to the staff working in central banks around the world; empower those who are positive to the idea that central banks should do something to address the climate crisis. We wanted to create a website that would create a credible outreach to those audiences which would bring together the news, research and opinion pieces on the issue.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have created a brief and went to several agencies to pitch. Ruby, from the beginning connected to such audiences and understood their way of thinking and how they see the world. Their pitch was based on design-thinking; both understanding the audience and our needs. They came with a proposal that would include the journey for the audience.

We had several meetings and iterations with which Ruby developed our initial insights into an impressive website. They sticked with the original idea but they were open to our inputs at every step of the way and we could have a chance to go into details one by one for each of the pages.

A project manager and 2 other people worked with us on a continuous basis.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching the website, we have also worked with another agency to bring in traffic with the template Ruby created. We have reached out to 100.000 in two months even though we were aiming for a very niche audience. We also got central bank leaders following us on social media. Ruby Studio's template was a very precise one for us, establishing credibility vis-a-vis our audience.

We had weekly calls after each iteration and the whole team was always responsive to our questions and feedbacks. The project manager has also managed us to be on time and deliver content that would constitute the website.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They made us better, they were very much focused on how the audience thinks or how might they react and they could find a sweet spot between our needs and the audience. That was very hard work.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Some minor bugs we needed to deal.

I am the Research Coordinator for the GECKO Consortium based out of the Center for Basic Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen.

For what projects/services did your company hire Ruby Studio?

The GECKO consortium had no web presence so we enlisted the services of Ruby Studio to design and build a website for GECKO. We wanted the website to be modern, sleek and serve multiple audiences to demonstrate to funders how science communication and be done innovatively.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We did a Google search for website designers who had worked with NGOs or Research orgs and whose work we liked. We met with three potential design companies . We selected Ruby Studio in the end because the team appeared to us to be the most proactive and creative, essentially that they would think for us to an extent when it came to what is good for a website since this is not our area of expertise. They also had several creative suggestions already in our initially meeting which were aspects we had not considered and were highly beneficial.

We started the process with several meetings where we shared what we needed and Ruby Studio asked a series of questions about our audiences, functions etc. After this they returned with an initial design and we moved from there with feedback rounds. Their design captured our aesthetic well early on and we did not make substantial design changes but rather small bits here and there.

From initial meeting to producing a website we only went through around 3 design iterations. Ruby Studio also redesigned several graphics we had so that they would fit the aesthetic of the website in this process.

In total we worked with 4 people from Ruby Studio, which is the entire team there. One project manager, one designed and the design intern, and one technical leader.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We now have a great website to share with collaborators, our funders, our staff and also the public. We are looking forward to populating content over the coming months and as our research progresses.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The main contact was easy to communicate with and always responsive. We completed all communication either via email or zoom and there were no issues with this. The team also coped exceptionally well with grasping our work which is rather in-depth/niche research and not necessarily and easy thing to grasp quickly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The design they showed us was just better than anything we could have envisioned and the animations aspects on the site make it flow so well. The best addition they came up with was to have a toggle switch at the top of the site to switch between 'Broad' and 'Technical' version of our content depending on the audience. This was such a clever suggestion from Ruby Studio. They were professional, friendly, proactive, and creative throughout.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really!

CHAT BOARD is a design company specialising in magnetic, writable glass solutions for the project market. Position: Marketing & Leads coordinator.

For what projects/services did your company hire Ruby Studio, and what were your goals?

We wanted our website to reflect the continuously increasing focus on strengthening our design profile, targeting architects and designers in particular, but making our brand easily accessible to a variety of stakeholders, from architects to sales partners to end-users.

The goal was to provide a 'one-stop-shop' providing all relevant information in a user-friendly format in one place, while inspiring users to investigate the vast range of solutions we offer, including made-to-measure, bespoke pieces. In addition we wanted our core ethos to shine through throughout the website, while keeping the format design straightforward, fuzz-free and aesthetically appealing.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Ruby Studio were recommended to us by a business associate and started out being one among a handful of candidates, each of which was carefully researched and approached individually, with much communication and evaluation taking place in the process.

Ultimately, we found that Ruby Studio provided the most straightforward, all-inclusive design solution, while having the kind of credentials we were looking for. Their hands-on and personable approach made communications easy, and we appreciated the fact that they quickly understood the direction in which we wanted to move.

Finally, there was a good cost/pay-off balance, as well as a reassuring, high-security hosting solution, and a transparent on-demand service agreement in place.

Following an early kick-off meeting, Ruby Studio did the first design drafts, which, after a few rounds of thorough reviews were turned into the final framework in a (WP) test site. From there, we entered and uploaded all text, imagery, information, downloadable files etc., staying in close touch throughout and relying on Ruby Studio for advice and support as needed.

Through close and continuous communication the site was tailor-made 1:1 to our specific set of requirements, and we were eventually ready to launch. The process did end up being longer than initially intended, due to the fact that we were doing everything in four languages, and that only one person at our company was assigned to do the work on our side. However, this is no reflection on Ruby Studio, and we were grateful for their flexibility, guidance and patience throughout the entire process.

During the majority of the development and execution phases, we primarily worked directly with the Client Director, with whom we developed a close working relationship, greatly appreciating his technical understanding, as well as his competent and honest approach in overseeing and managing the project.

During the last pre-launch stages we also worked closely with the founder and developer, getting the final details in place and coordinating the launch itself.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

From the first day of launch the feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive. Our sales force have gained a highly useful tool, which has made their work a lot easier, and the general feedback is that they now guide clients through the site with pride and pleasure, being able to provide any type of stakeholder with everything needed in one appealing and user-friendly place.

Likewise, representatives from our vast dealer network across Europe, as well as the US and Japan, have all praised the new website, one even comparing the experience of clicking through it to reading a design magazine, highlighting its visual appeal and overall ability to inspire.

Finally, we have been met with very positive reactions from the architects and designers we have been in touch with since the launch. So, while it's still early days, we are happy to say that all feedback across the board, has been positive.

We found Ruby Studio to provide highly competent, yet bespoke project management throughout the process. They continued to be willing and able to adapt to our particular circumstances, which were at times undeniably challenging.

Regardless, they remained within reach when needed, and were equally understanding at times when we temporarily had to put the project on hold during periods of other pressing and time-consuming commitments.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

At Ruby Studio they very much seem to take their cue from the client and shape their services around them, and this was particularly invaluable and helpful to us. Communication was always open, honest and pleasantly informal, and we always felt that they went to great lengths to ensure that our particular needs and requirements were met.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It is generally hard to find fault, and we would be hard pressed to any real issues to complain about.

URBAN POWER is a architectural firm specialized in coherence between urban planning, public space and architecture.

For what projects/services did your company hire Ruby Studio?

Ruby Studio designed and programmed our new website. Our previous website was getting more and more complex to maintain and didn't work well on mobile platforms.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to archive a logic and yet nuanced portfolio, that could be used both as website and as a presentation of our portfolio for meetings. Furthermore the mobile appearance should be improved with a relatively simple interface and maintenance for us.

SOLUTION

How did you select Ruby Studio?

After talking with several agencies, we found the people that understood the level of customization, that we were looking for. Furthermore they we're good to evaluate pros and cons of the various possibilities.

We made the initial sketch, that was edited and improved throughout the process. Ruby made it all work, adding animated transitions, filters etc. with a good balance between performance and effects.

Very positive response from our clients. And way more attendance on mobile devices.

I’m the product manager for a household product company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ruby Studio?

We hired them to build a new website and in Polish and German from scratch.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided the design and scope and they helped us brainstorm what the architecture would look like. Then they implemented it on WordPress, did all the coding, and developed the backend. They integrated several other platforms and gateways that allow for additional data collection for our marketing team.

What is the team composition?

I worked with my primary contact, a backend developer, and a graphic designer.

How did you come to work with Ruby Studio?

Our sister brand worked with Ruby Studio in the past. I reached out to them because we thought it would simplify things to have the same host. Then I had a call with them and I described my thoughts behind the website, what it needed to do, and what key functionalities we were looking for. After discussing their capabilities, I had a good feeling about working with them.  

How much have you invested with them?

It cost about 120,000 Danish krone (approximately $1,900 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

It officially started in May and ended in November 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The new site meets today’s standards and is performing well both on desktop and mobile. Since the site launched, the page speed has improved significantly and SEO has done well.

We’ve received a really good response from users. The new site really gave us a huge lift because customers can easily find more product information.

How did Ruby Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

We started the project with several meetings, but then we began swapping emails for the latest status updates. We had status calls every once in a while to make sure we met our ideal launch date. They did a good job. We caused a delay that extended the process, but that was our fault.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had extensive knowledge in SEO. They understood our needs and why we wanted to add certain features. They also provided unique ideas to help us improve. For example, they said we should connect with Google Analytics to track our data.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re still small and have a limited number of team members, which means they have to manage our work with other clients. At one point of the project, we caused a delay but they could only launch on the day originally in the scope of the project. As a result, we had to wait another month. They could be more transparent about what other projects they’re working on and how slight delays could impact our launch date.  

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very specific about what you want and what features you required. During the process, we realized we wanted to add different features that weren’t calculated in the project estimate.
