I’m the co-founder of Lendr, a community platform that enables users to rent and lend everyday items, promoting responsible sharing and efficient use of resources through secure, easy transactions.

What challenge were you trying to address with Roro?

We brought Roro on to fix core technical constraints that were limiting Lendr’s progress. The goal was to strengthen the foundation of the app so it could operate as a trusted, scalable platform. Their work allowed us to finally move forward with a stable product instead of being held back by the codebase.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Roro was responsible for key product and UX deliverables, including business accounts, reviews, Uber delivery integration, referral programs, major UI upgrades, in-chat binding reservations, redesigned email communications, and in-app Intercom support.The biggest impact came from the foundational product and UX improvements rather than any single feature. In particular, the business accounts, the binding reservations overhaul with in-chat flows, and the overall UI and email design upgrades materially changed how trustworthy and polished the platform felt to users. These improvements directly improved user confidence, reduced friction in the rental process, and made Lendr feel like a professional, reliable marketplace.Beyond the features already mentioned, Roro also contributed to improving internal workflows and overall product cohesion, helping ensure that new functionality fit cleanly into the platform instead of feeling bolted on. This work made it easier for us to iterate and scale without introducing instability.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Following the project, Lendr saw meaningful improvements in platform stability and security, particularly around reservations, messaging, and account-level interactions. These changes reduced trust-related support issues and allowed the team to move faster without compromising reliability.While we didn’t publish exact figures, internal tracking showed fewer support tickets related to trust and security issues, improved short-term user retention after the new flows launched, and a measurable increase in engineering velocity as the platform became more stable.

How did Roro perform from a project management standpoint?

Roro’s project management was strong and well-structured. They communicated clearly, set realistic timelines, and managed scope effectively as the project evolved. Deliverables were completed on time or within agreed-upon adjustments, and any changes were proactively communicated. Overall, they were reliable and easy to work with, which made a complex, multi-feature project run smoothly.We primarily communicated via virtual meetings and emails.

What stood out most was Roro’s ability to think beyond individual features and focus on the overall product and trust experience. They weren’t just executing tasks — they consistently considered how changes affected security, user confidence, and long-term scalability. That product-level thinking, combined with strong execution and design sensibility, made them feel more like an embedded partner than an external vendor.

There aren’t any major issues to call out. As with most fast-moving product builds, requirements evolved over time, and Roro adapted well throughout the process.

Roro’s work delivered clear, measurable progress across the entire application stack by accelerating development velocity, increasing stability, and enabling consistent releases. The team reduced cycle time from idea to shipped feature, improved sprint predictability, and boosted performance with faster APIs, fewer errors, and smoother end to end behavior. They successfully launched production ready web and mobile builds supported by a reliable CI/CD pipeline, integrated AI features that reduced manual effort, and deployed scalable infrastructure with monitoring and automated testing. Overall, the engineering foundation became faster, cleaner, and more efficient, allowing internal teams to build and iterate with significantly less friction.

What stood out most about Roro was their combination of deep technical skill and a calm, execution first mindset. Their engineers weren’t just coders, they thought like product builders, anticipated issues before they surfaced, and consistently delivered work that made the rest of the team faster. That blend of clarity, craftsmanship, and adaptability is rare, and it’s what made working with them feel like a true partnership.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Roro could have done differently?

If there’s an area for improvement, it would be leaning even deeper training our internal teams to  adopt AI tools more aggressively. They used AI well on their side, but dedicating more time to pairing with us, setting up shared workflows, and empowering the team to use tools like Cursor together would have amplified the overall velocity. It’s less about their execution and more about creating a stronger, shared AI operating rhythm across both teams.

This project was for a P2P eCommerce rental marketplace that we needed to adapt to work with a hardware provider (electronic locker systems). We came to Roro with a previously built app that needed to be updated to allow for locker integration by way of Harbor Lockers and their API. Our app was 'functional' but nothing that we would have wanted to promote to the public. Especially if we were going to partner with Harbor Locker systems to provide us with hardware. 

Not only did they mock-up new screens for us prior to us executing the initial scope to help us better visualize what it was we wanted and what we needed them to do, they also worked on providing a visual work flow showing the processes involved with clients using our app. In no particular order, these are some of the key deliverables that they provided: 

1. Revamped UI/UX 
2. Integration with our hardware provider (Harbor).This allows our users to pickup/drop off items in a safe manner using our lockers, versus having to do it in person 
3. Integration of Plaid ID verification system and asset verification 
4. Creation of an App Clip which allows our users to operate the lockers without having to download the app 
5. Addition of a locker rental feature not previously included in our original app 
6. Creation of separate user flows for different marketplaces inside the app. This morphed from strictly a rental marketplace to a lifestyle app that allows individuals to share and subsequently monetize their items very easily. 
7. Cleaned up the previous code and made it flow properly 
8. QC of the finished app which included bugs that we would have not found on our own without extensive testing.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Not to over simplify what was done, but they took an app that we had previously built on our own locally, and made it so it worked properly, on the Harbor Locker Network, while adding features on the fly that weren't in the initial scope because everyone realized that we needed to update certain things to make them flow with the rest of the update. 

The app is currently on the app store, live. Took two reviews to get it approved and this is for an app that takes customer data, has reviews, direct communication, multiple payment gateways, etc...

We had/have a weekly meeting that is allotted for clarification of certain things, for me to ask questions, for them to ask questions. We use Slack and Asana to communicate and even when I wasn't in the 'bug reporting' project of Asana, I looked and saw that they had been QCing the app for weeks without even letting us know. This was something I didn't expect and was a big positive to me knowing that they were working behind the scenes without me needing to interject. 

We are already on the second scope and have outlined the third scope to update this app even more. What we started with, or should I say, what we brought to them, isn't even close to how the app looks or functions now which is why they'll stay our channel partners and probably, fractional CTO when we goto launch.

I'm going to sound redundant if I repeat the things I like about them.

• They've gone above and beyond updating certain features we needed that aren't in the scope.
• Suggested features I would not have thought of (App Clip) 

Whats unique specifically to them vs any other developers we could have used is that they know how to integrate software into the Harbor Locker hardware infrastructure. No one else would have been able to do this and we have in house developers. I think that is the key take away here. We could have done this ourselves... it would have taken 10 times as long and cost more. Why reinvent the wheel when we can have them take the development reigns for us.
