We really only gauge their performance based on if coding deadlines are met. We are pleased thus far.

Our contact Hilal was fantastic. He made sure things were moving along. We definitely knew that he would step in at any point if we ever ran into any communication issues.

We are enjoying how fast they get things done. They are also quite ready to help and eager to start on new projects. They also document their time really well, which is usually a huge problem with subcontractors.

I am the president and owner of Process Engineering Products Company, Inc. (PE Products), an industrial products distributor and manufacturer's representatives for industrial heating, sensing, and control products. Founded in 1979, we are a family owned company in Richmond, Virginia. The extrusion market is our specialty, but PE Products is also able to meet the unique needs of the chemical, fiber, food, packaging, and pharmaceutical industries. What challenge were you trying to address with RNF Technologies?

We had five existing websites, but none were mobile-friendly and all needed great improvements. Since we did not have a staff person to address these needs, we had to go outside for help.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Actually, RNF Technologies took all the information from our existing website and moved it over to the mobile-friendly site. In addition, they used a template that we had internally to price instruments board by board and replicated it onto the Eurothermonline.com website so that our customers and prospects could build their own instruments. We worked together to find the right look and feel of the website with their expertise.

How did you come to work with RNF Technologies?

We had started working with them on an online marketing project to help us improve our Google ranking for about 100 keywords and phrases. Even today, it's a great partnership.

How much have you invested with RNF Technologies?

I believe that we contracted the first site, Eurothermonline.com, for $15,300 and are now paying $200 per month for the first 6 months for upkeep and changes. The second website was a few thousand dollars less, but we paid up front to save us some tax money. This one is Gefranonline.net, and it is due to be launched in mid-January 2017.

What is the status of this engagement?

I have been in contact with RNF Technologies since December 2015. We will continue to have them improve our other existing websites as well as others to come, as long as we can continue to agree on the costs and monthly fees. So far, we have not been disappointed.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

It's a little hard to give exact metrics, but we now have daily sales from new customers all across North America. Though not all are direct orders on the website, we have new customers contacting us by phone and email, and there would be no other way that they would know who we are than with this new website. I figure that it will take 6 to 9 months to see a full payback and profit from there.

Mohammad Murtaza did an excellent job of project management by phone, text, and email. When we encountered a mistake, usually because of us, they have been quick to make the appropriate changes.

What did you find most impressive about RNF Technologies?

I appreciated their sense of humor as well as their desire to do a great job and work around our schedule.

Are there any areas where RNF Technologies could improve?

Many times, the background noise on the phone calls and conference calls made communications difficult. Sometimes, we rescheduled when they could have a quiet conference room in which to meet.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with RNF Technologies?

Just tell them when you are unhappy with anything and expect them to handle it within a day or so.

We are a mobile game development company. We focus on social casino game development for iOS, Android, and Facebook platforms. Our gaming portfolio has several very successful titles with over 20 million downloads across the world. Our prime markets are the United States and Europe, where we have several titles in the top 50 games in the dice category. I serve as the products director for the company and currently overlook product development.

What challenge were you trying to address with RNF Technologies?

In August 2013, we were going through a transition in our team and were struggling with a December deadline for 2 key apps. RNF's team was able to understand our situation and their experienced project managers and developers were just the right people for the job. Although we were not able to meet the deadline for one of the apps, I take nothing away from RNF, as they did everything to help us and went as far as working on the weekends for the games.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We wanted to keep the design in-house, so we only contracted RNF Technologies to develop the game engine, game analytics, and admin backend based on the algorithms we created. RNF also provided a very thorough manual and automated testing service to ensure the product we were taking to the market was impeccable.

We contacted RNF along with several other vendors to augment our development team and help us meet our launch deadlines. We initially went with RNF because of their track record in game development, flexible payment schedule, and most importantly their willingness to work with a near-impossible deadline.

The exact figure is confidential, but we have invested over $1 million with RNF over the years. We have an ongoing contract with them to develop and test mobile games for our portfolio.

This is an ongoing engagement that started in August 2013, and we currently have a multi-year contract with RNF.

For the app that we collaborated on with RNF, so far we have over 20 million downloads and an average user rating of 4.5 and above.

How did RNF Technologies perform in terms of project management?

Project management is one of the key strengths of RNF Technologies. They have a very experienced team, and their approach is more consultative and product-like, as opposed to a service delivery one where everything the client says is deemed out of scope. RNF is flexible in the way they work and allows room for scope iterations, which are very important for a game development company.

What did you find most impressive about RNF Technologies?

Their work ethic, flexibility, time management, and most importantly their knack for customer service.

Are there any areas where RNF Technologies could improve?

It is difficult to comment because we have been working with them for years with a dedicated team and a project manager; but if I have to say something, it could be their client onboarding process.

I think the best thing you can do is to discuss every minute detail of the project and have a general roadmap. It is always a good idea to share the vision for the project and underlying objectives, because in my experience with RNF, they will always point out things you completely overlooked.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The goal was to get a brand new system/website built in 90 days and sunset an old (20+ years) legacy system as seamlessly as possible. It was a monumental task, and a few of our regular vendors declined to take it on due to time constraints and penalties if they were late.

RNF had worked with me on some projects in the past, and I knew that they had a solid team in place that could potentially take this on.

The client in reference has exchanged hands a few times; they are now completely owned by a separate entity with a new system in place due to being absorbed.

Both the co-founders were heavily involved: one from a tech standpoint and the other from a functionality standpoint. They ramped up on resources in an incredibly short time to ensure that the project was adequately staffed.

RNF was quick to respond, held themselves accountable, and very clear in their dealings. No hidden agenda.

By being global and capable of working around the clock on our project, RNF made our updates very smooth for us. For example, we may have decided to change a direction one day, and the modifications were completed by the next day because they worked overnight on them.

The personal relationships we built with the representatives working on the project. The leadership at RNF understands your needs and then supports them throughout the project. They give it their personal focus to make sure you get the product you desire.

Maybe have more of a "what’s-available" list for newcomers to the app world, like what can we and can’t do. It would make it easier to understand for those of us who want the app but do not fully understand how they work.

I was the former director of marketing at a "Workplace-as-a-Service" provider, which is a reseller of virtual office spaces and meeting rooms around the USA, as well as internationally.

RNF Tech was originally hired for SEO [search engine optimization]. After showing positive results with our website positioning, we decided to hire them for some small web development projects, which then expanded into an ongoing web development relationship over the course of several years.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had monthly ongoing SEO. Our web development tasks included: a shopping cart overhaul, allowing users to customize their virtual office online; front-end functionality; integration of telecom shopping cart and corresponding backend shared database, allowing users to choose their phone number and related features, as well as updating a shared database real-time with the telecom provider; and a full website overhaul, which included a complete re-working of the front-end to modernize the website's appearance.

RNF Tech also developed two more websites. One is an online real-time meeting room booking platform, and the other is a subscription-based service for recurring meeting room users that generates a virtual "card" with a monthly allocation of credits that can be used for any size meeting room. Small meeting rooms and day offices are assigned a cost of one or two credits, and larger meeting rooms and boardrooms have a cost of 3 or more credits. One-time bookings (or bookings by non-card holders) are paid for with dollars. Both websites worked together to allow for one-time or recurring meeting room bookings, customizable bookings and storing credit card information. Both websites have been redesigned and reworked since RNF's original design, as the "version 1" of each was completed years ago.

How did you come to work with RNF Technologies?

RNF originally cold-called us for SEO services, and we liked what they had to say. The decision to move forward with web development was made because we were very happy with the team, and they had experience with Drupal web development, which was the platform our original website was built on.

How much have you invested with RNF Technologies?

I would estimate this at $50,000 to $80,000, but it is hard to estimate because we had so many different projects with the RNF team.

What is the status of this engagement?

The timeline was roughly November 2011 to November 2015.

The best evidence of the quality of their work is the Live Telephone Answering functionality as well as the process of purchasing a virtual office online.

How did RNF Technologies perform in terms of project management specifically?

We were always assigned a project manager with whom we held weekly meetings, as well as a very accurate online project management software where I could collaborate with the multiple developers who would be working on our various projects at any given time.

What did you find most impressive about RNF Technologies?

I would have to say it’s their ability to conform to almost any idea we had regarding our website and new functionality. Even in times where the team didn't have experience in a certain area, RNF would go above and beyond to ensure they properly researched the technology, understood the task at hand, or the particular vision of our chief executive officer.

Are there any areas RNF Technologies could improve?

In general, when having such a lengthy and extensive working relationship, of course, issues did arise at times. But I think areas of improvement were more in the hands of our team and the planning of our own projects. The issues that arose during our various projects always seemed to relate to our own lack of proper planning of a project or trying to push an unrealistic timeline on the RNF developers.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with RNF Technologies?

My advice would be to ensure you have a good relationship with your project manager from the beginning. If there are any issues with communication or responsiveness, RNF will assign someone else to work with you who is a better fit. Any issues we ever had were mediated and resolved by Imran or other executives.

Temple University Hospital is one of the major academic medical centers in the Philadelphia area. We are running a spin-off company called HGE Health Care Solutions, which is in the process of commercializing some of the research work done in the pulmonary space. The company has 4 different platforms around the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) space, as well as a focus on liver disease. We offer a mobile platform for disease management and telemedicine services for patients.

I am the executive director of the Temple Lung Center and the chief operating officer of HGE Health Care Solutions.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with RNF Technologies?

We were looking for a technology partner and wanted to find one with the right depth. We didn't need many resources initially, but as the company grew over the last 2 years, our relationship with RNF Technologies grew as well.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

RNF Technologies has acted as a staff augmentation company for us. We have a contract for a certain number of development resources per month, which keeps increasing every few months. RNF has been our technology partner in this journey. We are running a couple of projects together, one of them around COPD. RNF has helped build all applications for our patients.

RNF has also helped us create another application that will be focused on interventional pulmonary treatments in Europe. It will be available in English, French, German, and Italian. Our third application is focused on liver transplants, and it's a US-based project.

We have a ton of other work in the pipelines and plan to have a few sessions with RNF’s staff at the end of next week, in order to lay out a roadmap. A revamp of our COPD application is planned for 2017.

We have audited RNF’s source code through a California-based firm, which performed some penetration tests and came back with zero major defects. This is important to us, given that we're operating in the healthcare domain. As we're submitting an application for a CE mark for the European market and preparing a file for an FDA submission in the US, the structure of the code will be one of the major criteria. We're very pleased with the outcome of the product.

How did you come to work with RNF Technologies?

A year prior to finding RNF, I had been working with partners in India on conceptualizing our research and creating demo applications that would give us an indication of the product's look-and-feel. We engaged in this process for 2 years using 4 different companies, one of them in the Philadelphia market. Our experience was okay, but as we started visualizing the growth necessary for our project, we didn't find the right capacity in our partners.

We went through a due-diligence process, and I was introduced to RNF. I met the team at their office, compared them to other big companies, and found them to be a better fit. We gave them an initial small project that they delivered on time and under budget, so we kept expanding the work. We came to have a fixed monthly contract with RNF.

The total cost of RNF’s work has been around $150,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with RNF in March 2015. Our pulmonary application is set to go live at the end of this month in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We currently have around 500 patients on service. Our biggest metric was being able to receive a certification from the audit company, showing that there were no major defects in the code. It was a significant selling point, because although we're trying to sell a technology solution, our focus is ultimately on healthcare and patient care. Having a robust solution stands out when we need to submit technical files for security audits. The results have put a lot of credibility on RNF’s end.

How did RNF Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

I have worked as a project manager and know how complex it can be to dig down into the details of each task. So far, we haven't had any issues in terms of timelines and availability of resources. We have weekly calls with RNF, with updates on what was completed and what is in the queue for the following week.

What did you find most impressive about RNF Technologies?

There was a lot of hesitation from our group, which had not done any overseas work in the past. They felt that managing a relationship with people, some of whom we'd never met, would be challenging and difficult. I've had no issues with RNF. I and other people on my team can reach out to them and receive feedback in a timely manner. The friendliness and responsiveness of RNF’s staff are what sets them apart.

There are some key executives and a board member in our company who had done work with other overseas companies, all the way from Brazil to India and had terrible experiences. This was a hurdle when making our initial pilot, but everyone now has only good things to say about our relationship with RNF.

Are there any areas RNF Technologies could improve?

Because we work in the healthcare space, we have unique challenges and needs. We are working to create a team on RNF’s end that will be aware of these challenges. They've done great work in terms of technology, but knowing US regulations would be a huge plus. I know that this isn't RNF’s niche, so it would only be beneficial to us and not to the other 80-90% of RNF’s clients.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with RNF Technologies?

So far, I've been lucky with contracting resources from RNF Technologies. They have a US presence, and the team is fluent in English, so there have been no challenges on that end. It's a fairly straightforward process, and RNF has a great team.

I used to work for one of the top 3 Indian developers and know what challenges come with this space for smaller clients. RNF is a mid-sized company that can help clients grow.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

As CEO and Cofounder of Dispersion Technology, I have initiated and actively participated personally in the development of new technologies for characterizing liquids, concentrated nano and micro-dispersions, emulsions, and porous materials. Instead of light, we have developed a line of instruments that employ ultrasound for characterizing interfacial chemistry, particle size, and rheological properties of said systems. In addition to the theory of the measurement and instrumentation itself, we have created the following applications for this new technology: nanotechnology, aggregative stability, environmental protection, cement slurries, ceramics, chemical-mechanical polishing, coal slurries, coatings, cosmetic emulsions, flotation, ore enrichment, food products, latex, emulsions and microemulsions, mixed dispersions, non-aqueous dispersions, paints, and photo materials.

There are about 500 groups in 25 countries using instruments based on these new technologies (about $35,000,000 in sales for the last 17 years). I have close personal scientific collaboration with many of these groups. There are 56 papers published by users of our instruments. We have published 26 papers, 2 Elsevier books, and 7 USA patents.

What challenge were you trying to address with RNF Technologies?

As a company, we hadn’t concentrated on building a good website for ourselves, plus we did not have resources available in-house to take care of it if we decided to do so. That was until RNF Technologies came along and convinced us that having a good web platform would be beneficial for our overall business, for both existing as well as new customers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Being a scientist myself and owning a scientific firm, the amount of data we had on the website was enormous. Making sure it was ported over to a new CMS and in the correct format (scientific papers) was critical to us and perhaps the biggest challenge of the entire process.

How did you come to work with RNF Technologies?

The very fact that RNF could educate us on the need of having a good website and how they answered our concerns and questions was good enough reason for us to award them the project directly. We did not see the need of going to the market to find an alternate vendor.

How much have you invested with RNF Technologies?

We spent a little over $10,000 with them on the entire project, including design, development, data migration, and quality assurance.

What is the status of this engagement?

We did this project with them back in 2013, and it took about 3 months for it to be completed. We haven’t seen any need since to redo the same, but if we do in the future, we have a preferred vendor in RNF Technologies to do it for us.
