Safety for Life is an Occupational Health and Safety Consulting company based in Brisbane, Australia. Caroline Kingston is the Managing Director and Principal Consultant. Caroline manages the project development of Sherm a SaaS application that has been developed and is maintained by Rishabh.

For what projects/services did your company hire Rishabh Software?

Rishabh provide Safety for Life a Senior Developer for the ongoing development of Sherm. The benefit is that we maintain a Developer for long durations so their depth of understanding the application and my core requirements become known in a short period of time.

Furthermore, when there is to be a change over of Developer, we have established processes for handover to save me having to do basic training. Challenges are overcome with technology. We have been working remotely for the last 10 years and our working relationship is very close and respectful.

What were your goals for this project?

My goals change to meet my clients requirements. Through the use of a project management software application we can easily track and monitor tasks and review previous work completed.

My current developer has cleaned up reports so the design concept has improved and additionally where changes are made my Developer is considerate to impacts and shares ideas with me so we can consider performance capabilities and other potential improvements. We work well together and more so, my Developer can work very efficiently independantly.

How did you select this vendor?

I selected Rishabh Software initially as during the initial contact phase, I did not feel like I was being 'sold to' but more so guided and supported. This gave me a sense of dealing with a supporting company.

When the project first kicked off, I travel to India from Australia to meet the original team and the Directors of the Company. I felt reassured and 10 years later, we are still working together and I am quite happy with no need to change.

The current project requirements are not as hectic as what they were initially. Sherm is a software application designed to assist companies with managing safety, health of employee, and risk management.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The current project management arrangements suit my requirements. I have a project lead that I can go to as required, but on a daily basis I work with my developer. I know that as required, I just need to reach out and my requirements will be met.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I like the ease of requesting for services, the coordination internally and the scheduling of resources time wise to meet my needs. The communications between other departments have a personal touch. The company is 'just' my preferred vendor with my software until the day I decide to sell... and one day retire

What was the scope of their involvement? 

We have a Java-based application that runs on Amazon EC2 with a Postgre database. Rishabh Software developed some discreet functionalities for us, including UIs for a client configuration. While they built those pages from the ground up, they did refer to our app to match the look and feel.

They’d reached out to us, but we weren’t looking for anything at the time. Once we encountered a unique challenge in our app, I called them back. It was a tough problem, but they were able to resolve it quickly, so we gave them more work to do.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them between February 2017–October 2018. In that period, they did different units of work for us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We judged their performance on the timeliness of the delivery, accuracy of the functions, and whether or not they missed any design specifications.

How did Rishabh Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They managed projects well. We communicated through webinars, and I also supplied them with fairly detailed designs. If questions came up, we would talk over the phone. Some issues could also be resolved through back-and-forth on Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re easy to work and communicate with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they do a good job. That’s why we continue to work with them.

I am the CEO of Montego Services LLC, and we have been providing services for software architecting since about 2014.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rishabh Software?

We brought on Rishabh Software to help us develop a platform for event management using all of the Office 365 programs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I’m a SharePoint architect and actually used to work for Microsoft, so I was able to document everything that I wanted them to do. From there, we finalized the requirements and reviewed our options for moving forward before beginning the development process. There are a lot of different moving parts and they were able to put all of them in one easy-to-use application.

Their team has basically been responsible for all the backend connections of the 365 programs and both the platform for planners to organize their events and then the interface where they could push them to the public. They also developed a customer service module that allows people to interact with external inputs as well.

What is the team composition?

I worked with a little bit of everybody on their team over the course of the project, from their mobile team to their design team, but for the most part, I had two dedicated developers that I coordinated with to make things happen.

How did you come to work with Rishabh Software?

I was looking for an app developer and found somebody through LinkedIn who ended up being terrible. After that, I decided to be a little more stringent with my requirements for Microsoft Expertise and ended up finding and signing Rishabh Software.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent a little over $50,000 already and are projecting closer to $100,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December of 2018 and are still finishing up the project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have a lot of metrics yet since we haven’t launched, but I’ve done a few demos for some of my musician friends, and they have given really positive feedback so far. There’s not a lot of programs that put all this stuff in one place, so they really appreciate the convenience of it.

How did Rishabh Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They do a really good job, and I haven’t had any issues in the whole time I’ve worked with them, which is rare among all of the developers I’ve worked with. They don’t let a day go by without letting you know what they’re doing. We communicate through email for the most part, and they’re really good about staying on top of everything that you ask of them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their knowledge and skill level are really impressive for the industry. I used to work for Microsoft, so I know how hard it can be to find good developers for these programs. They’re just really sharp and are always able to actually interpret what you want from the program rather than providing you with some sort of cookie-cutter approach.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing I thought might be an issue originally was the fact that they’re on the other side of the world, but we have no problems communicating whatsoever, so I don’t think I have anything I wish they would improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Just be prepared and know what you want to accomplish. They’re a very straightforward company, so you’re going to get a lot less out of it if you have no idea how you’re to accomplish your goals.

How has the engagement evolved over time?

Over the last couple of months, we’ve experienced a failure of communication. Initially, everything was going well—there was a sense of genuine camaraderie. But, everything fell apart towards the end of our engagement.

What was the status of the project when things started to change?

In December, we had neared completion on a project but had a few instrumental tasks remaining. All of a sudden, one of the primary developers stopped responding to me, and I couldn’t get a hold of the project manager, either. I didn’t hear back from that developer for over a month.

They ultimately neglected to transfer an API from an old product to the new development, which left me in a limbo state for two months. I couldn’t even test the solution. This caused several issues with my other contracts who were depending on me to get that work completed.  

What is the status of the engagement now?

I’m still working with them to try and figure everything out, although I’m not sure how they’ll manage to rectify the situation. I just received an email from them and am hoping to meet with them soon. Having said that, these developments definitely blighted my feeling about our project.

What feedback do you have for Rishabh Software?

I wanted more direct communication. If they promise that they’re going to fulfill the goals of a project, I expect them to follow through; at the very least, they could communicate to me why something’s not getting done. They’re all beating around the bush pinpointing the issue, so I’m left in the dark about what went wrong.

The lack of communication became apparent in another upsetting instance when Rishabh Software billed me for a monthly resource. I know for a fact that the assigned developer had only worked for a week and a half before abandoning the work. The project manager should have updated us about what was going on.

What advice do you have for their potential clients?

Make sure to use a project manager from your own team, or at least have two managers from both teams working in conjunction. You don’t want to get caught in a situation where you’re oblivious about why something’s gone wrong, especially when there are third parties waiting on you. I wanted to update my review because I didn’t want others to go through the same predicament.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate how they help us get business as well as staff it. Most of their competitors expect you to come to the table with a signed contract, ready to go, but Rishabh Software offers pre-sales conversations while we’re trying to win the business of a prospective client. While I don’t leverage it anymore, it was a big help early on. They put together presentations and proposals for projects that I was trying to win for my business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be ideal if they provided access to developers that are able to work in United States Central Time, rather than Standard Time. Also, they could probably ask a few more questions in order to get clearer requirements when working on projects.

My advice is to make sure you gather good requirements.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Most of their work is on our frontend. We have some internal developers, but they manage some of our frontend work and QA for mobile and web-based applications. We work as an integrated team, and they operate as an extension of our internal development group. Since they're in a different time zone, we can work around the clock on projects.

We tried working with a project manager, but it wasn't as effective as working directly with the developers. We work with three engineers and two QA specialists.

Our CTO and I vetted agencies that could work within our stack. We did our due diligence and considered a list of about ten vendors. After a testing process, we did a live comparison of two vendors in India, but ultimately selected Rishabh as our principal outsource vendor. They had the right skillset, and their resources met our needs. I met directly with their CEO, and we have a good synergy.

We've continuously improved our ability to execute a variety of deliverables. We worked for several months to complete our Apple app, and we're already on our 17th or 18th release. The organization with them is good, and we are a well-oiled machine.

They allowed us to manage the project on our side. We use a managed workflow process using Jira and Confluence, as well as documentation from wireframes and UI. We have daily stand-ups, and they meet with our CTO as needed.

Their willingness to fully integrate is wonderful. They are receptive to critique, and we have a good relationship.

Whenever I need something from them, they're open to making changes. As of now, I don't have anything they should correct or improve.

If you are a startup, be smart about the outsource resources you choose. Working with Rishabh is very straightforward, and they would be a great choice for an established company.

Newzstand Corporation is a social media marketing platform. We offer software as a solution for social media marketing and our two products are NewzSocial and Engage.Social. I’m the founder and CEO. I’m a serial entrepreneur, and I’ve started several successful companies. This is my latest one.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rishabh Software?

We hired them for a very specific set of products. We wanted a mobile version of our products and mobile access to our platform. We have engaged with them for multiple years, and they built two products for us on iOS. We wanted someone who would work with our team to build an iOS app, which runs both on iPhone and iPad, for two of our products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rishabh Software was pretty much independent. We also have a web version of the product, so a lot of the functionality was defined in the context of the web version. They rendered the details, including how to provide it to the user interface and how the iOS product would look. Then, we had a set of interfaces to our server-based service, which the iOS product needed to connect to. We let them choose the iOS technologies, using all the infrastructure and software and libraries available for iOS development. They really were responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing it. We provided the requirements and the interfacing through the server-based service.

Rishabh also helped with the marketing and strategy of the app in terms of push technologies and analytics technologies that could be integrated into it. They did manage the process of releasing the app, along with our team. We wrote the documents that were required to define the product for the App Store submission, but they actually did the submission to the App Store.

There are two apps. The first app was a social newsfeed product. We had a lot of content coming in from a variety of sources, and they had to provide a way to actually browse through the news by category, search through news, and share this news content on social media. This app was integrated with our backend server. The second component of the app was actually used with our corporate clients, where they actually had a social media marketing system and they could push content to users within their company. This app was supported both in English and Spanish, so they created a multiple-language version of the app from day one.

The second app was for a different kind of purpose. It was essentially what is called a social sharing app for any consumer to be able to go to sites that use that technology. It lets them keep track of all the content that was shared from that site. There’s a browser plug-in technology that they could use to share content from the browser. There was a pretty wide range of technologies Rishabh built as far as the products go.

How did you come to work with Rishabh Software?

One of our senior executives was based in Silicon Valley at that time and ran into them. At that time, we were looking for a partner for our iOS development. He said that he could put together a team that had some expertise. We started them with that project, and it worked out. They continue to keep supporting the products.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August 2012, and the work is ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The app is pretty successful. It was designed as a stand-alone app. The value of the app is for our corporate clients. It is an integral component whenever any corporate client looks for the mobile version of our app. They download it straight from the App Store. The app has a few hundred thousand downloads independently. It has good reviews on the App Store.

How did Rishabh Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They perform well and they’re a very good team. They had a set of engineers and a project manager. There was a business relationship manager we could talk to if needed. The way we worked with them was on time and materials. We defined what we needed on a weekly basis and they were pretty much an extension of our development team. Sometimes, there were delays because of us, but they pretty much stayed within the budget and timeline. We communicated with them through Skype and email. They would build a version of the product, and then we would use the standard Apple distribution tools for testing early versions of the product.

What did you find most impressive about Rishabh Software?

What’s unique about them is if you want an important component of the product and are interacting with multiple teams, they are very self-contained. They worked as an extended part of our team. They are very professionally managed. Over five years, there is going to be some transition of staff, but they managed the process very well. They’re very responsive.

After researching businesses in India, I expressed my interest through LinkedIn. My initial conversation with Rishabh was informative. They provided information about the software development process and the stages I would go through. The initial project began in September 2010 and was delivered in January 2012. The user interface project started in October 2016 and was completed in April 2017. Rishabh will continue to provide support to Safety for Life.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The client feedback on the design has been exceptional. The application works smoothly, with improved usability and navigation. It no longer looks cluttered and messy.

How did they perform from a project management perspective?

There were issues with time management and resources for delivery. At times, I was concerned about the level of communication from the project manager to team members. One team member left after the initial discussions and information was not passed on. That resulted in design concept issues and agreed upon actions not being included in the project. The delivery date was supposed to be 26 January 2017, but the project was more than two months overdue.

What did you find most impressive about Rishabh Software?

They are the only software development company I have dealt with, so I cannot make comparisons.

Are there any areas Rishabh Software could improve?

Rishabh needs to improve in terms of project management and communication. From a quality perspective, when a team member is leaving, such information should be communicated to the client. The records of discussion should also be maintained based on previous development meetings.

Rishabh Software built a web application from end to end. They did the design and architecture, including application security and database architecture. They did the core development and the UI/UX [user interface/user experience] component of the frontend. The web app is subscription based. It was developed to provide a CRM [customer relationship management] platform to mid-size markets. We followed an Agile methodology.

How did you come to work with Rishabh Software?

They were recommended by one of our trusted advisors as one of the best development firms in that region of India. We had a couple of meetings and I flew down to India to look at their team, their infrastructure, and what they had to offer. We made a decision based on that.

We spent between $1 million and $2 million over the course of our relationship.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in October 2014 and the project was completed in June or July 2016. We are looking to develop a few other products for ourselves and they’ll be the first firm we contact.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

One of the best parts of working with Rishabh Software was not just their programming capabilities but the transparency in what they provided. As a development company, you can’t guarantee the business outcome of the product you’re developing because there needs to be marketing and a lot of other factors to make sure the product is successful. I rate Rishabh differently because of the way they managed their transparency with me. They were very professional and gave us constant updates about the project.

How did Rishabh Software perform from a project management standpoint?

We had a dedicated business analyst, project manager, and development team. We communicated through JIRA for bug fixing and another tool they used. They delivered the product on time.

What did you find most impressive about Rishabh Software?

The main thing for me was their transparency and honesty. Dealing with a foreign organization, though I’m Indian and I was dealing with an Indian company, is not that easy. I’ve been burnt before, so I appreciated their transparency and flexibility. They consider me as their partner. If there were any issues, they made sure to tell me.

They could improve on the UI/UX part of their development. That’s where we had to make the most changes. From the backend perspective, it was good.

Our product allows people to transfer money from the United Kingdom to 71 countries and in 26 different currencies. We’re currently translated into five different languages. I’m the CEO.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rishabh Software?

We looked at the UK market and at how borders were evaporating in Europe and how easy it was to move around. We wanted to serve customers that struggle to access financial services and give them access to payments and the ability to move to other banking products. We started looking at outsourcing our IT requirements.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Having built products previously, I like to stick with Microsoft technologies because I find it easier and it’s the best technology to build with. I like using the most up-to-date coding bases, so C# and .NET were important to me. Because we’re an application that’s available on iOS, Android, and Windows phones, experience in Xamarin was also important. We used Microsoft Dynamics as our CRM [customer relationship management] solution, so the firm we used had to have experience in the majority of Microsoft products.

How did you come to work with Rishabh Software?

I interviewed 14 different technology companies from all over the world. We discovered a lot about what these companies were delivering to their customers. Rishabh delivered a huge pile of paperwork supporting the technology they could use and what they could do with it. Using our brief, they explained their recommendations on how they would go about the project. That enabled us to build the architecture together. Rishabh also had experience in the technologies I was interested in using.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

People are impressed with the product and the architecture of how we’re delivering it. The investors are impressed that we have delivered a banking platform for 71 countries.

How did Rishabh Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very accessible through Skype and have come to see us as well. We worked with a project manager, but I was also in contact with the owner and the developers. We use a platform called JIRA to communicate and manage the project.

What did you find most impressive about Rishabh Software?

Their detailed documentation sets them apart, which helps when a new developer starts on the project. Even though it’s a lot of paperwork, it helps us understand where we are and where we’re going.

Are there any areas Rishabh Software could improve?

Overall, they are a good company but sometimes they need to apply more common sense and initiative. Sometimes they go overboard on the amount of analysis they need and it can slow things down.

We started working with Rishabh Software in December 2024, and our engagement is ongoing, enriching our project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Rishabh Software’s work has had a clear positive impact on our operations. We’ve significantly reduced the manual workload related to reporting, as much of the process is now automated through the dashboard. This has saved time internally and minimized errors.

Additionally, the centralized system has improved transparency across our organization. Both our team and our clients can access their data whenever they need it without relying on back-and-forth communication. This has improved efficiency and responsiveness.

Moreover, we’ve received positive comments from our end users. One client specifically mentioned that everything is working correctly and that it’s very valuable to have such a tool in place. The centralized access and visibility seem to be particularly appreciated.

How did Rishabh Software perform from a project management standpoint?

Rishabh Software’s project management has been structured and collaborative. While certain parts of the project have required back-and-forth discussions and refinements to ensure everything is delivered exactly as needed, this has been largely due to the evolving nature of the platform and our expanding requirements.

Overall, Rishabh Software has been responsive, adaptable, and committed to delivering the project properly rather than rushing timelines. Overall, our experience has been very positive. If there’s one area for potential improvement, it would be presenting more alternative options or approaches at certain stages of the project, particularly when evaluating technical or architectural decisions. The only reason for 4.5 instead of 5 is that in some cases we needed a bit more back-and-forth refinement to fully align on certain details, but the final deliverables met our expectations. Some adjustments were needed due to evolving requirements and iterative improvements, but communication was clear and they remained committed to delivering properly rather than rushing outcomes.
