We are a food delivery company so we ask redbee to create an app and backoffice software to enable restaurants to take pictures of their dished and then submit them to be classified based on different rules what we have to make sure all the pictures are similar in quality.

At the beginning the project was the app and backoffice alone, however because the good performance of redbee we included them in the automatic classification algorithm and the goal changed from app delivery to increase the coverage and quality of pictures in our catalog

We had regular meeting with both teams (pedidosya and redbee) to align, we considered the redbee teams as part of our team so communication was completely fluent. We set up deliver dates and demos to follow the progress. They accomplished and delivered every requirement we asked for.

We 've hired Red Bee studios to continue and boost the developement of the new online banking for enterprises (from big to small ones). Product is online now and we are evolving for new features.

We have tried Red Bee in another proyect to replace our teller aplication and invited them to participate in another project. We appreciate their innovative capabilities and partnership with us.

We had a discover to understand where we were. At the end of this discovery we planed macro deliverables. At the beginning of each deliverable we had deep dive discussions and signed whith them an initial agreement of budget, which can move if things start changing. At the end of any deliverable we analize the performance of Redbeed and decided to continue or not whith them

I’m the COO of Prisma Medios de Pago, an IT consulting company. We’re one of the largest companies for payments in Argentina.

What challenge were you trying to address with redbee studios?

We had a big legacy and were trying to move to digital. We needed help with custom software development to embark on that journey.

What was the scope of their involvement?

redbee studios has developed our system. First, they helped us with the electronic statements. They’ve built the technology in the cloud with digital containers. They’ve also helped us with an electronic wallet project, building it from scratch.

We work together with redbee studios as a mixed team. They come up with the functionality and features we need, and we create the system together. Their work is based on Kubernetes, databases, and JavaScript.

What is the team composition?

We’ve been in touch with the owners. Additionally, we’ve had about 70 teammates at the highest point of development.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $10 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2018, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We measure our business targets and are comfortable with the results. We’ve been happy with redbee studios. They’re as good as other larger companies.

How did redbee studios perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is good. We have a follow-up meeting every 4–6 weeks. Additionally, we use Jira as a management tool and communicate via Microsoft Teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

redbee studios is a great option; they do their work remarkably well. Moreover, our relationship with them is better than what we could have with a larger company.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As an IT company, sometimes they spend too much time understanding the project. They need to know if the project is good enough for them in terms of digital transformation. Sometimes we need other things.

Keep good communication with them.

I’m an executive for the financial branch of a multinational chain of department stores. We’re based in Chile, but we have operations in Colombia, Peru, and Mexico.

What challenges were you trying to address with redbee studios?

We started with a payment service provider, creating a wallet to manage all of our payments ecosystem. However, the project presented multiple issues and complexities. The most important one was the connection to our acquirers because each country had their own terms to manage that.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

redbee studios created a network of communications between the different acquirers in the countries where we operate. They helped us solve that complexity by bringing into our core layer a series of standard APIs for the connection. The team programmed the APIs on Golang, Node.js, Python, and JavaScript.

What was the team composition? 

We had four teams with about 24 people in total. Each team had a project manager as the main point of contact, and we were in direct communication with the account manager.

How did you come to work with the redbee studios?

They were very well known in the technology sector in the region for their technical skills and flexibility. I knew them from previous work positions, but other colleagues had experiences with them as well. redbee studios had worked with other large companies in the country, so we had numerous references.

redbee studios had a high technical quality, so when we sent our requirements, they immediately brought on people with the right expertise. They had developers that had worked on similar projects in Argentina. Their team convinced us, so we decided to move forward.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in December 2020, and they finished the project in November 2022. However, they still provide updates and maintenance for the system.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

All our software goes through a continuous integration process where we evaluate it with automated quality metrics. In general, redbee studios was among our best-rated partners in terms of quality. We also measure flexibility because integrating a partner implicates complexities. In that sense, redbee studios had the flexibility we needed to prioritize the project goals; it was easy for us to forward with the project instead of discussing little details.

How did redbee studios perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was flawless. They worked as an extension of our team using agile methodologies, so we didn’t have issues. For project management tools, we used Jira, Confluence, Slack, and numerous technical tools for code management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had three main strengths. First, their technical quality and skills were superior. Secondly, they aimed to understand the business from the technical side, which was a plus. Instead of working on development and just delivering, they tried to provide ideas and share their experiences with other implementations. Finally, their flexibility was outstanding. Software development projects can be complex, especially when creating a product. We were subject to uncertainties, and working with a traditional partner requesting a document for every change would’ve considerably slowed our processes. However, redbee studios prioritized the goals over any other detail.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should be more flexible about letting the resources become permanent team members of their clients. They usually don’t allow clients to hire the developers they provide. Although that’s valid, it’d be a good idea. If a developer it’s involved in a software project, redbee studios could open up the possibility of having a different agreement to extend the collaboration with their talent.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get them involved in your business and decision-making processes from the beginning. Using them as a software factory is a waste; instead, using them as partners and thinking about co-creating is the best thing you can do. They can bring many good ideas into your project.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked with redbee studios on various projects throughout the years. Among those projects was the modernization of our core system to consult account systems of Visa cardholders. For this project, we provided them with interviews, functional documentation, and a list of requirements for the platform’s functionalities. They then created the platform’s architecture and design and implemented the new functionalities. Aside from that, redbee studios has also developed a payment gateway and a wallet for us based on the latest technologies and microservices.

We worked with six people on our system’s modernization and around 50–100 people on the payment gateway.

redbee studios has performed well in terms of project management. They’re flawless in terms of meeting deadlines and providing reports and updates. They’re very in tune and coordinated with our internal team.

We typically communicate through Google Meet, and we use Jira for project management.
