BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Viewlay, a consumer web and mobile application that lets people discover what’s going on around or near them.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Rascasone?

I’d mocked up a high-fidelity prototype of my app. I hired Rascasone to build out its first version.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I provided Rascasone with my prototype and requirements and received a detailed estimate of its architectural implementation. Then, following an agile methodology, we officially kicked off the development phase. The work was broken down into sprints, and we made adjustments and clarified requirements along the way. Up until the final product, every step was followed by careful testing.

It’s a cloud-based progressive web app (PWA) that is hosted on AWS. They built everything out on Node.JS and within the Ionic framework.

What is the team composition?

I worked with five people in total. I engaged with their CEO, who managed the lead architect developer, a tester, an Ops specialist, and an additional developer.

How did you come to work with Rascasone?

I was looking for a cost-effective partner with Ionic experience, and they were recommended to me by a colleague at a previous job. Their price, trustworthiness, and expertise of Ionic made me choose them.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent around $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement lasted between August to December of 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were able to finish right on time, and core development was completed faster than expected. While we haven’t launched the app yet, the engagement was a very positive one. They were flexible with both their process and resources; they added team members when needed, and they were comfortable with creating something from scratch.

They also offered valuable suggestions that saved us a lot of time. In one instance, they recommended Strapi.io, a specific content management system that we ended up using.

How did Rascasone perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication was seamless. They were ahead of the deadline, and despite being a remote team, they were accessible on Slack all the time. We had regular scheduled meetings, as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rascasone’s core strength is its ability to work with early-stage projects. They’re happy to figure out the product with you by offering ideas and solutions during development. They understood what we were trying to do and made great suggestions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. Every project has its own challenges, but I can’t recall anything major or specific. They’re a solid team.

The clearer you are about your business objectives, and the more context you can give them, the more likely it is that they’ll come up with unique solutions.

SOLUTION

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They designed, developed, configured, and launched a new storage search website solution.

The projects started with a discovery workshop, which let us reach mutual understanding of the business goals. Once wireframes, UX and worflows were approved, work began on the "staging environment".

The functional versions were ready for testing and feedback every two weeks. Improvement were made during testing, utilising the "Trello.com" platform to keep the team up to date throughout the entire process.
