**The Review** — Jan 16, 2023

**Feedback Summary**: Ralabs’ work has met the client’s expectations. Although the new search tool has yet to launch publicly, internal stakeholders have shared overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the modern look and feel. They are a timely, knowledgeable, and transparent partner who uses Jira to manage tasks.
"“They always work alongside us to determine the best course of action for the project.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Steve Gaylord: I’m a backend software engineer for a facility rental marketplace.

Dmitriy Bronin: I’m also a backend software engineer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

SG: We had a lot of needs regarding additional and existing projects and needed to supplement our engineering workforce.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

SG: Ralabs supports us by providing engineering staff to fulfill our custom software development needs.

DB: Our first step after choosing to partner with Ralabs was to review the project scope, requirements, and team composition. Once we defined the scope, we provided overview documentation.

SG: They’ve provided us with all-encompassing design, development, and QA resources. The Ralabs team has helped us design and build our next-generation search tool. For the design phase, we provided the system knowledge and requirements, and their resources turned the requirements into design documentation. For the development phase, the team has replaced our existing search feature with a more modern tool that enables users to efficiently find existing facilities through our platform.

DB: With regard to technology, the team has used Node.js, MongoDB Atlas Search, JavaScript, and Vue.js. They’ve also used Figma for design work.

What is the team composition?

SG: We’ve worked with an engineer, backend engineer, frontend engineer, designer, project manager, and architect.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

DB: We found Ralabs through a referral from another company who shared outstanding feedback after working with them. We had an initial call with their co-founder to discuss the project and the type of services we were looking for. The call went well, and their capabilities fit our needs.

Then, they did their due diligence, which entailed reviewing our existing software and providing free recommendations. Their advice spoke to their integrity and knowledge, so we moved forward with the engagement.

SG: Ralabs went above and beyond during the sales cycle and spent significant time upfront. They provided a range of estimates based on various projects, which helped us understand their depth and breadth of knowledge.

How much have you invested with them?

DB: We’ve spent roughly $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

DB: We started working together in July 2022, and the partnership is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

SG: We haven’t launched the product publicly yet, but we’re pleased with the modern look and feel Ralabs has created for our search feature. We’ve conducted internal acceptance testing and launched the tool internally, and we’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The engagement has been successful overall, and we expect everything to go smoothly when the product goes live.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

SG: Ralabs has met the expectations we set at the beginning of the project. They meet deadlines and communicate openly. They always work alongside us to determine the best course of action for the project. Additionally, they’re good at comparing our feedback with the initial requirements and implementing it when necessary.

We use Jira to manage the project and communicate via phone and Slack. We also meet via Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

SG: I’m most impressed with their knowledge level and collaborative problem-solving approach. We typically discuss our thoughts and leverage understanding on both sides to come to an advantageous solution, which I appreciate.

DB: Additionally, they’re very honest partners who take full responsibility for issues, even when they haven’t caused them. For example, we faced a challenge with our technology stack, and Ralabs did a tremendous job finding the root of the issue and fixing it, which was impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

SG: I’m satisfied with Ralabs so far.

DB: I have nothing they could improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

DB: Don’t be afraid to share feedback throughout each project stage so that everyone is on the same page and you can avoid surprises.

SG: I encourage you to challenge their ideas because Ralabs looks for opportunities to collaborate.

""They are critical thinkers that know what they do.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a lead senior full-stack engineer at the healthcare startup. I am cooperating with vendor and working together with their developers

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs, and what were your goals?

We were looking for a company that can quickly build an MVP for us. We needed a short demo to present to our clients. The building required some expertise in healthcare, ui/ux design and development. We needed something to be developed fast and we couldn't achieve with our in-house team.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I have worked with the team in the past, so we reached out to them to get a quote. They provided us with some great initial estimate and we decided to hire them.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

It started with a user research and wireframing. The designers asked us lots of questions and did their research afterwards. We were presented with wireframes and a different styles of the UI part. We were able to choose the style and mood, they did a great work of keeping our own brand identity. As soon as UI part was done, we started development with a talented engineering team. We worked in sprints and PM was overseeing the whole process. All finished with successful deployment.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

2 Ui/UX designers, a Project Manager, 2 Software Engineers

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We got what we wanted on time. It enabled us to show the prototype to the clients and close more deals. So it was a great cooperation proving that agencies can help you achieve something fast without all the recruitment hassle.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We used jira and worked with Agile methodology. For Design they used Figma. The communication was done via Slack, Emails and online calls.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are critical thinkers that know what they do. They want offer you some services if they are not confident this is the most efficient way. Meaning the result and happy client for them is always a priority, not a profit. They are more into long-term cooperation than one-time transaction.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

nope, all good!

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian national media Hromadske. Our team covers Ukrainian and world events. Currently, we are focusing on the coverage of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

On our main site, we cannot implement special projects that would contain complex layouts and complex visual solutions. Therefore, Ralabs developed a special project for the Independence Day of Ukraine for us, which we were able to add to our website.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have worked with Ralabs before and were very pleased with the result. Therefore, we immediately decided to choose this contractor. Also, considering the socially important component of our project, Ralabs gave us a very large discount and actually implemented the project at cost.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

After a series of meetings, we agreed on our goals and shared vision for the project. The Ralabs company initially developed the design of the project (all pages) and offered layout options. After the design was approved, we proceeded to the development and filling of the project with content. Also, already after the release of the project, Ralabs kindly agreed to make all our additional edits that arose later.

In total, we worked with 5 people, including:

The project was successfully implemented (https://hromadske.ua/project-azovstal). It had a good response from the audience. Views of this special project were 3 times higher than usual for articles on our site.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between our organizations was very efficient. We had weekly meetings with contractors to discuss updates and next steps. The contractors performed all stages of the work on time and took into account all our wishes.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was very impressed by the readiness to meet customers and respond to all our requests and needs extremely quickly. Special thanks also for the design of the project, which was very much liked by our entire team and was agreed upon with almost no changes. Due to our activity, we often deal with developers and designers, and I could say that they were one of the best teams we had worked with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Everything was comfortable for our team in this format and we are very satisfied with the result.

Project summary

Ralabs provided website development on a donation system for a media platform. Their team supplied an engineer and UI/UX design.

Feedback summary

Ralabs successfully brought significant engagement to the platform. They managed the project well and were very dedicated.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Head of Product at hromadske.ua

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

We hired Ralabs because we needed our website-embedded donation support system to be developed from scratch.

What were your goals for this project?

Hromadske.ua is a fully-independent media platform that takes no financial influxes from the media corporations or businesses. We are working for people and thus we are supported by people. Our goal was to have a user donation support system developed for our website.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Ralabs have successfully dealt with a complete overhaul of our website, having improved its workload, hosting capabilities, and user’s experience. We were highly satisfied with their work, so the decision to hire them again was not even questioned.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Our donation modules on Hromadske’s website required quite an improvement. The widgets that were used to attract the users’ attention and actually propel them into donating have been outdated and obsolete. So, we wanted to have them improved and polished as well, as having a separate donation hub for Hromadske.ua developed. We also required an enhancement of the visual framework of the donation tools which would make it easier for us to tell our customers about the benefits that a donation made can actually bring them like, for example, a subscription discount.

What was the team composition?

Ralabs have allocated 1 engineer, QA, PM, and UI/UX Designer to our project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The system delivered by Ralabs helped us to engage hundreds of people to support Hromadske. As Hromadske is a non-profit organization, the development of the donut system for support was critical for us.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Ralabs manage their projects in a continuous manner. They start managing when you accept their proposal and do not stop until the maintenance phase is over.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are dedicated to what they do and it can be seen. And yes, they take your projects seriously as if it was their own product.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I cannot think of any. Having shown dedication to what we’ve asked them to do, Ralabs did not leave any blank spaces in our confidence that they are a truly reliable partner.

**The Review** — Mar 4, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: Ralabs consistently delivers high-quality outputs and they're able to mitigate any risks to the web app. The team is responsive from a project management standpoint, and internal stakeholders are particularly impressed with their innovative approach to design.
""We haven’t experienced any bugs or technical issues on our web app.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the digital marketing director at a financial tech firm called InvestiNet. We simplify the debt collection process by automating it through software.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

We needed someone to provide us with React software development and UI/UX design.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ralabs uses a lean methodology to develop our web app through WordPress. They work in two-week sprints that start with UI/UX, which will eventually move into breaking down different items into time buckets and prioritization. From there, several aspects are implemented and further developed.

It’s fundamentally a payment portal, but we also incorporate different payment types and connect it to APIs and various systems — we also send information to Google products like Analytics through JavaScript.

What is the team composition?

Over the past year, we’ve worked with several front- and backend developers, DevOps engineers, UI/UX designers, and senior designers.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

Our company was already engaged with Ralabs prior to me accepting this position. We’re continuing to work with them because we’re pleasantly surprised by the results they give us.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve invested somewhere close to $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The ongoing partnership with Ralabs started in January 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of their work is superb and as a result, we haven’t experienced any bugs or technical issues on our web app.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

We had some turnover where Ralabs had to bring in a new product manager, but the handoff was excellent, and the team continues to deliver and stay on top of our projects.

They manage the project through JIRA and we typically communicate through Slack and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with how they manage the project because they don’t let anything slip. We also like how their UX designer is able to translate our weird and complex challenges into a great experience consistently.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have any constructive criticism at the moment.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would say hire them sooner rather than later.

**Feedback Summary**: The company is pleased with Ralabs' outputs. Their designs are flawless, and the system is expected to carry 80%–100% of the firm’s operations after its release. The team delivers on time; any delays are only caused by scope changes. They have great designers that produce intuitive systems.
"“Their overall performance has been great.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the technology director for House Buyers of America, a real estate company that’s into home buying and selling.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs Design?

We have our own website, but we want to start a new project and design a new system. Because of that, we’ve hired Ralabs.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ralabs is designing a new portal for us using various front- and backend technologies, including Angular. They’ve built APIs on the front- and backend sides using PHP, among other tech stacks. Meanwhile, they’re also creating a mobile app that uses a piece of technology that can be used on both Android and iOS systems.

The portal and the mobile app talk to each other using various APIs, and the idea behind this entire system is to manage our business operations better. The Ralabs team has designed the project from scratch, and they’re currently working on the products’ development. Their resources also do QA tests; they’ll also provide post-delivery support.

Right now, we haven’t officially gone into the maintenance phase, but we’ve already gone live. We’ve finished phase one, and we’re only working on some fixes and mobile app design tasks. To be clear, the portal isn’t a public site; it’s only for our internal business operations. The same goes for the app.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with around 10 people from their team, including junior and senior developers and designers. A project manager also works with us. If I want to split the team in two to work on the portal and the mobile app, 3–4 people will work on the app, and 3–4 people will handle the portal; one QA tester, one project manager, and a DevOps specialist will work in both teams.

How did you come to work with Ralabs Design?

We found Ralabs through Clutch — we use Clutch when searching for vendors because of the reviews; we’ve also found good companies on the platform — and that was how we connected with them. We wanted to outsource the project to a team in a different time zone, and Ralabs matched our requirements.

Apart from that, we also asked them for references and looked at the quality of the websites they’d done before. We asked them to present those sites, too. Then, we explained the project to their resources, who gave us the best technical feedback we’ve heard.

Another deciding factor was their pricing and hourly rate. We didn’t want to hire a team that was too cheap. We also checked whether they could provide senior technical experts. Other vendors would tell us they provided us with senior developers, but they’d only deploy junior developers in reality. Given that, Ralabs let us talk to their designers and developers. Finally, Andrew (CEO) himself was also a technical specialist, so he understood technology. That was another deciding factor for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $100,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Ralabs in June 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Ralabs provides great designs. Their designs don’t have many flaws, and their designers are always available for review.

Moving forward, we expect to have 100% dependency on the system; we’re trying to move away from manual paperwork — we want to do everything online. In a couple of months, our operations will be 80% dependent on the system that Ralabs has designed — we expect that that will have a high business impact on us.

How did Ralabs Design perform from a project management standpoint?

Ralabs is great in terms of deadlines. They’ve missed some timelines since we’ve changed some orders, but their overall performance has been great. To communicate, we use Zoom. Our members use Jira as a project management tool. Their resources also use good design tools such as Figma when designing wireframes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their design is highly intuitive, and the team understands our business needs. They have amazing designers that seem to read our minds because of the way they know exactly what we need. They’ve spent about a month learning about our needs, and then they’ve delivered perfect designs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their QA tests weren’t good at first. However, they’ve gotten better eventually.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Your requirements should be written out so Ralabs can start working on them quickly. Your requirements should be clear — that’s the most important thing in any engagement. You should discuss such requirements with the team.

We hired Ralabs for Web Design (UI/UX) for our management console. Our current management console is very dated and we wanted to completely redesign it to make us more functional and easy to use for our customers.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to make sure that the user would have a better experience and ease of navigation on the new UI. We wanted to minimize the number of clicks and more visual information. How did you select this vendor?

We searched online and looked at the vendors that had used them in the past and felt that Ralabs was perfect for this project.

Describe the project in detail.

Once we started the project with Ralabs, we went over the current web management console. We went through the areas that we knew about where we needed to add improvements. Ralabs also performed interviews with some of our customers to get their feedback on what areas that they felt needed improvements.

Once we had all the feedback, Ralabs proposed few design options based on our and customer inputs. They provided pros and cons of all designs and we selected the design that we felt was best for our customers and our product.

What was the team composition?

We were assigned one project manager and two UI/UX engineers.

The project was completed successfully within the time frame. We are extremely happy with the new management console and the improvements that it will provide to our current and future customers. It will take some time for us to release this new management console to our customers but customers are really excited about this new management console.

The feedback from UI/UX engineers and giving their inputs based on their experience was very helpful to make this a very modern and easy to use web management console.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication was very clear and had weekly calls with the Ralabs team to go over completed functionality and the next steps. They brought up issues and possible solutions right away to make sure the project would not be delayed. Ralabs performed demo and completed functionality and provided their inputs as the project move forward.

I oversee the software development of one of the products of our company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

We hired people from Ralabs to augment our software development team with frontend and backend developers.

The goals were to develop a product (web application) being able to use the data processed by our company and provide actionable insights to our customers for maximizing the profits from their business.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

I had to conduct a series of interviews with the company's top management and their software engineers to see if they had the right talent to augment my software development team.

Ralabs' pitch was that they will provide us the top-performing talent and in case we claim anyone not being a good fit - they would provide alternatives with no questions asked and without impacting our project's deadlines. They were very motivated to be engaged in our project.

Describe the project in detail.

They were technically strong, producing deliverables with high quality and working transparently. There was no need to micromanage them and they quickly earned my trust and built the confidence that they will deliver the committed features on time.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I had a dedicated delivery manager who was in continuous contact with me helping to make all organizational aspects of our collaboration go smooth. And it worked very well.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

This vendor has access to great talent and their services are reasonably priced. They work very hard to earn and maintain trusted relationships. They ensure a guaranteed quality of service and stick to their promises.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Since our requirements for the candidates were very strong and demanding, it took us some time until we have found the best fit. But it was worth it since the software engineers I got were of top-notch.

**The Review** — Jun 18, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: With their dedication to advising and consulting, Ralabs contributed a tremendous amount of value to the project. Their code was technically sound, and the team navigated the time difference well, making themselves available at all times. Customers can expect a smooth, successful engagement.
""It was great to incorporate them into our team and quickly execute on the goals we had."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of engineering at a health tech machine learning startup. Our focus is on combining data science with findings in the health domain. Basically, we aim to drive insights from clinical data.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

We started creating a product that gave clinicians a dashboard for viewing the insights provided by our machine learning algorithms. As an example, if there was an increase in a certain type of caseload, this dashboard would allow a clinician or, more likely, the head of the department to explore what might be going on.

We came up with a prototype internally, and we needed to add a lot of functionalities that would support the clinicians. We needed Ralabs’ expertise to refactor it into a format that was more easily maintainable.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

At first, we engaged Ralabs as an advisor, to consult and explore a few technology options T.hen, we had them rebuild the platform in the new tech stack. Ralabs is particularly fluent in WebAssembly, but also Python and any JavaScript-based languages. We talked about AngularJS and Vue.js versus React.js, and we ended up going with React.js after talking with them.

For the backend machine learning algorithm, we ended up using Python because our data scientists were more familiar with it, and they found out that the models we were running would run less efficiently in WebAssembly. It was worth the extra work to do it that way. We hosted it on Google Cloud Compute. Ralabs also helped us a lot with DevOps, because we weren’t familiar with deploying something at scale.

The platform is a web application that’s also formatted for mobile use. The more exploratory parts of it function as a web app. Once a clinician figures out what they’re more interested in, it’s pretty easy to pull up the information on their mobile phone in-between rounds or when they have a bit of time to review it.

Ralabs also had a designer look over the solution, and gave us a lot of good suggestions for UI improvements.

What is the team composition?

I worked with Andrew (CEO) and several of their developers. I also worked with one of their product managers, a designer, and a DevOps person for a little bit. One of the nice things about using them is that we could use some of their resources for a limited time on an as-needed basis, and didn’t need to hire full-time employees. That also made vetting easier.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

I think it was through a referral from a friend.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was $14,000–$15,000. It was a pretty small project, but we added on a bit of work as we went.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Ralabs in Q1 of 2019, and we wrapped everything up about three months later.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were on time most of the time, more than any other set of developers I’ve used before, and even more than our internal team. That was really nice, and also pretty rare.

As far as code goes, Ralabs adhered to modern Python and JavaScript standards. Their quality and style were fantastic. If we told them that we needed to do it another way, they would adhere to it pretty quickly, within a few days. They also gave us some advice on good branching and deployment strategies, and we adopted those in accordance with their advice. It was great to incorporate them into our team and quickly execute on the goals we had.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Jira, which we were already using internally. Originally, Ralabs had a project manager work with us to make sure everything was up to date, but we eventually decided that they’d just adhere to our project management. We stopped using their project manager about a week into it. Throughout the project, they were pleasantly fast with getting everything done, and pleasantly on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They did a good job of advising us on what to do when it was relevant to do so, but they also communicated and listened to what we’d already learned. There were things that we knew about the domain that they didn’t, and there were things that they knew about development and deployment that we didn’t. They did a good job of working together with us and keeping us in the loop, whether it was through Slack or email.

Aside from technical hard skills, they were also really good about being on time for meetings. They’re based in Ukraine, but they were still available in accordance with our time zone. We engaged them with the expectation that we’d have a couple of hours of overlap per day, but they were certainly more available than that.

The Ralabs team woke up earlier and stayed up later, especially when we needed it. There were a couple of times when we needed something at what would’ve been the middle of the night for them, and, even though their developer was at home, he responded on Slack.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything that stands out, in terms of huge problems. It was a relatively small project, but they did a good job with it. They were great technically, which was pretty obvious from the get go.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Ralabs can do more than just being an execution shop. I’d definitely recommend that people talk to Andrew, show him the problem they’re trying to solve, and listen to him for 10–15 minutes, to see if he identifies anything similar or relevant.

We’ve worked on quite a few projects, and it was nice to learn from them in the beginning what was relevant. Andrew was really helpful in detailing some of the things he’d seen, and what he’d do in those situations.

**Feedback Summary**: The excellent programmers and software architects at Ralabs improved the operational performance of the platform and built a user-friendly and responsive interface. Their team was responsive, communicative, and thoughtful, always going above and beyond to find the right solutions.
""Ralabs has accomplished more than four projects for us, and the quality has always been very satisfactory."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CTO of Startup Codeworks

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

Web Development for a Recruitment Platform

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to build and improve our platform's workflow and user interface, as well as identifying and fixing the system's vulnerabilities, and the issues not identified/fixed by the previous vendors.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We met Ralabs’ representatives at a tech conference and since then we have been in regular communication with the company’s sales rep. Given the quality failures of the previous vendors we were skeptical at first but we decided based on other clients reference checks to give it a try. The results were very good. . The expertise of the team matched, and some cases exceeded ,our expectations. We engaged a team of Ruby developers for backend development, front-end developers, and also helped us with advanced AWS configuration such as load balancing and security auditing.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Our pivotal requirement was improving the platform’s user interface and updating the system’s workflow. They were tasked with designing and developing both the UI/UX and backend of the platform. Additionally, their team helped us rewrite and update our existing RoR framework. They also replaced our platform’s outdated interface with a much more modern design.

What was the team composition?

3 engineers, 1 product manager, 1 QA, 1 designer

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

They helped us improve the operational performance of the platform and built a user-friendly and responsive interface. This was instrumental as it allowed us to showcase to our client that we were employing the latest designs, libraries, and frameworks. As of now, Ralabs has accomplished more than four projects for us and the quality of the final product has always been very satisfactory.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was as expected. We utilized the agile methodology with weekly sprints and reviews and daily scrum meetings. They employed task tracking and reporting software and followed project management best practices and kept us well informed on milestones etc. The team has always been quick to answer any questions and overall were insightful and incredibly helpful. The company management was also very attentive and checking in with us weekly to ensure the project was on track and within our budget parameters.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Excellent technical expertise. Many companies have strong programmers like RaLabs but they also had some excellent software architects. Getting that right can have a massive positive impact on the development cycle of projects. Also, they didn’t steer us into a partial technology just because they had expertise in it. They were very thoughtful and worked with us to find the right technology for the problem at hand. They also had a good bench of full-stack developers which is often hard to find.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There’s always room for improvement even at the best of companies. We would like to see them continue to grow their data engineering team since they had a deep bench of developers and designers but sometimes we had to wait a few days to avail of their data architect who was in high demand. Overall It was our pleasure to work with Ralabs and we recommend them highly!

**Feedback Summary**: While some parts of the project went smoothly, it was ultimately unsuccessful due to communication issues and misunderstandings. Since then, Ralabs and the client had a discussion and came to a mutual agreement. Both parties eventually decided to end the collaboration and did so respectfully. This review was originally 0.5 stars overall. It was updated by the client on July 10, 2020.
""We came to a mutual agreement that satisfied all of our interests."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am a partner at a hospitality company that provides online education for hospitality. We are currently in the pre-launch stage.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

We hired Ralabs to develop the backend for our corporate website, which is supposed to present our services.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We had the frontend ready. We then did the initial design and programming, and we were supposed to adopt the backend. We worked on a time and material basis. When we received the invoice for the last sprint, the amount of time spent looked suspicious.

We asked them to check it and the developers said that it was fine. We then notified them that we would carry out an audit, and they confirmed and asked for a few days to prepare some comments.

After accepting their request, they asked for two more days every week for two months. Ralabs then told us that they wouldn’t provide access to the code to carry out the audit. They wanted us to make the payment first and then they would give us access to code to audit it.

Because of this, we lost our booking with the auditing company and we couldn’t explain to our partners and investors why our development company kept asking for an extension on a weekly basis, and Ralabs couldn’t explain it either.

We then carried out the audit with multiple auditing companies using time logs and the CMS, and it showed that the time was increased on average by 3–4 times for the last sprint. We also evaluated the whole project and came to the conclusion that 6–8 times more time was spent on development than necessary.

We did extensive research and talked to companies worldwide, asking them for their estimates. None of them could come close to explaining how we ended up spending that much time on this project.

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact was Roman (CTO & Co-Founder) and we worked with 3–4 developers. Throughout the process, we were in touch with Roman and he was very nice and easy to talk to. However, we had a different experience with Andrew (CEO) who was unwilling to listen to us or negotiate.

We tried to go through friendly negotiation stages and even engaged mediators who we covered financially. During the 2-week timeframe we had allocated for negotiations, the CEO couldn’t find time to talk to us although he knew the project was on hold and we needed to solve it asap as we were losing time and money.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

Our design partner, who we are very happy with, had experience working with Ralabs and recommended them. So, we thought that it would be easy for us to work with them too.

How much have you invested with them?

We paid $20,000. We didn’t cover the last sprints because we wanted to check the work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from April 2019–May 2020. We told them we would be doing the audit in February 2020 and it was in April 2020 that we asked them to provide an explanation for why they kept playing for time and avoiding the audit.

We tried to be patient with them, believing that they would eventually give us access but, in May 2020, they said they wouldn’t do that.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

We will have to redo the whole project as the quality was low. We were supposed to have the project done by March 2020, but now it’s on hold. Additionally, we don’t have a website because everything is in the hands of Ralabs. Due to all of this, our relationship with our partners and investors has worsened.

We lost money, time, and our relationship with investors because of Ralabs. Our company has also experienced financial losses not only because of the standstill when we still have to pay salaries and cannot operate, but also because we paid for auditing services and for mediators to carry out friendly negotiations that didn’t end up happening because the team couldn’t find a time to talk to us.

After doing research and estimations, we discovered that we can redo what we have now with dozens of other companies within 3–4 weeks. Overall, we’re in a very bad position because of this. We trusted the recommendation that we got and we didn’t do many checks while we were hiring them.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

The project managers on our side had to spend more time on the project because Ralabs’ project managers had missed certain information or had forgotten to transfer it to IT. Most of the bugs that needed to be corrected had to be repeated 3–5 times.

Everything was perfectly fine up until we requested to carry out the audit. The team wasn’t able to meet deadlines. When we were adopting the backend to the new design, it took them three times longer than originally planned.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

The CTO did his best to negotiate, but we understood that he didn’t have a say in this situation.

In what specific areas can they improve?

I would suggest that they don’t treat customers like this, cheat, or play for time in the manner that we experienced. Ralabs knew that they put us in a bad position when they did this. If they know that they’ve done something wrong, they should just be honest about it, talk to their clients, try to understand their position, and not avoid it.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be careful and understand that you won't be able to check the work provided. The whole experience ended up being a nightmare from a business point of view.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had two scopes of work with the developer - both involved backend work. The first sprint went fine and according to the schedule with a fixed price approach. For the second one, we were supposed to adopt the previously developed backend to an updated design working on a time and material basis.

Our expectations were that the second sprint would go as efficiently as the first one went and at some point, we relaxed the control over the situation. This eventually led to misunderstandings and different views on how the work should be done and how long it should take.

The whole situation generated confusion between our companies and we decided to find another developing company to proceed with.

What is the team dynamic?

Our main point of contact was Roman (CTO & Co-Founder) and we worked with 3–4 developers on an ongoing basis. Throughout the process, we were in touch with Roman and he was very nice and easy to talk to.

Although, initially, we found it hard to come to an agreement with Andrew (CEO) we want to acknowledge that he eventually heard us and put a lot of effort into communication.

We resumed our negotiations efficiently, and we are pleased to confirm that Ralabs showed respect to our circumstances, and they agreed to satisfy our requirements and compensate for our expenses.

How much have you invested with them?

We paid $16,000

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in April 2019 and the disagreements arose in April 2020. In June 2020, we terminated the collaboration in a friendly manner without any claims from either side.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

We have gone through different stages in our relationship. As in any collaboration, we had periods when everything moved smoothly and periods when complexities or misalignments in understanding, views, or approaches between our team arose.

While we decided it was best for both teams to stop the engagement, we are pleased with the fact that the termination went smoothly and based on the future interests of both our project and Ralabs'.

How did Ralabs address the challenges that arose?

Despite misunderstandings and lack of efficiency in the negotiations at the outset, in the end, Ralabs' management team demonstrated a willingness to collaborate and to take into consideration the difficulties and long-term interests of the client. Eventually, we came to a mutual agreement that satisfied all of our interests.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

We decided to redo the project as the speed and approach appeared to be unsuitable for our needs.

As a result of the incomprehension and lack of efficient communication with Ralabs, we have gone through a difficult and burdensome period of keeping the project on hold and having complicated relations with investors and partners.

However, we want to commend Ralabs' efforts in resolving the generated complexity between our companies. We have seen the transformation in attitude and approach from their management.

I am sure that both of our teams have emerged from this crisis being wiser and more attentive. Eventually, Ralabs navigated this situation with a focus on long-term relations and the client’s interests.

How was project management handled?

The project managers on our side had to spend more time on the project because occasionally information was missed or not transferred in a timely manner to respective managers. Even though we terminated the partnership, Ralabs consented to fix the bugs.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

Roman, the CTO did his best to negotiate throughout the collaboration. The CEO demonstrated an ability to adapt, pay attention, and stand up for the long-term interests of both his company and his client.

In what specific areas can they improve?

We suggest that Ralabs pay attention to customer dissatisfaction at earlier stages and be more transparent in their communication. This is a good lesson for both of us and I'm sure this situation will not be repeated with new clients. We are glad to have ended this collaboration with mutual respect and understanding.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

Discuss everything with more attention, and clear out confusion or unexplained issues right away. Additionally, be clear and insistent in explaining your position and arising complications if you have any.

"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a project manager at Xema Co. Ltd - a large-scale biological manufacturer. Over the course of twenty years, Xema has developed from a small-scale contract manufacturer of human antigen proteins to one of the world’s leading biological companies in providing tumor marker antigens and corresponding monoclonal antibodies.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

To create a modern web-based, multi-player tournament “game” that allows checking the proficiency and accuracy of manual procedures of laboratory workers.

What were your goals for this project?

Promote Xema Corporate Group at medical events. Create a tool that will allow checking the proficiency of laboratory workers, and to create a tool that will help to educate new laboratory workers on several manual laboratory procedures.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Ralabs was a recommendation from a business partner who worked with them in the past. We also selected more than 10 vendors and ended up working with Ralabs because of the Healthcare and IOT experience. The Ralabs team was full of good and smart people and had an exceptional working culture.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The project consists of 3 major parts: - Admin panel for managing all of the users, and tournaments;

- The user interface, that encapsulates all of the major features of the software: Start/End tournaments, upload results, connects with the “reader device”;

- Tournament table, which shows all of the user results live. Ralabs were responsible for building all of the parts, including business research, Software development, IoT, UI/UX design, CI/CD, and deployment.

Ralabs provided five teammates for this project: Software Engineer, Solution Architect, Manual and Automation QA, Project Manager, and DevOps/SA.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The product allowed us to close many deals during the last two conferences we had. Also, it spawned interest in the industry to our software, and currently, we are working on packaging this to sell as a product to other businesses similar to XEMA. So the business impact was enormous because it created a new line of business for our company.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The team used SCRUM. I must say, that everything was just spotless.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were all willing to help. Each time we required help during the evening or even times over the weekend, the Ralabs team was there for us.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None! All good as it is!

**Feedback Summary**: While the product is still being pilot tested by its first users, the app is fully functioning and working as intended. The team collaborated with their partner, fulling embracing the iterative development process and working closely with their client. They took a strategic technical approach.
"“They think along with me to ensure that the quality is high.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a UX designer and also the CCO of Talck.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

We thought of a concept that would give housing corporations and their tenants better communication between one another. Our team needed to develop a platform that would realize our concept.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I designed the whole platform, and we wrote technical documentation together. Then, we had two sessions to determine the best approach for developing the app. That allowed us to figure out what kind of timeline and staffing would be appropriate. Eventually, we chose a technical direction. From there, they took on all the development work for the solution. They used Ruby on Rails on the backend as well as React and Angular on the frontend.

What is the team composition?

We had a project manager, a frontend developer, a backend developer, a DevOps developer, and another resource. They weren’t all full-time, but we did have five of their team members assigned to the work.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

I’d worked with their team in the past and had a great experience with them. Initially, I met them at a conference. They were kind and professional, and I appreciated our chats. We sent out proposals to multiple agencies to see what ideas they had for the work.

They were easily the winner due to their professionalism, willingness to think ahead, and their affordable price points. After selecting them the first time, we had a great collaboration. I never thought about hiring anyone else for the work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We collaborated from January–November 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re running a pilot test with one client and 1,000 houses. The solution is fully-functioning, and both parties are using it for communication. We haven’t had any issues—it’s working flawlessly and as expected.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re always standing by to help us. We planned the project in Excel and worked closely with them to make sure we were both on the same page. Sometimes deadlines weren’t hit, but everything we needed was there on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re always pushing us to improve the product. We can take comfort in knowing that they won’t be building the solution blindly because they’re always asking the right questions. They think along with me to ensure that the quality is high. Their technical approach is also well-developed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes deadlines weren’t made. Although they always clearly communicated when this was going to be the case, it would be nice to have clearer estimates at the beginning of a project.

""Ralabs can be trusted with writing good, maintainable code that follows best practices."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

CTO and WorkAround Online, a company that organizes a workforce to work on massive micro task projects with web software

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

Ralabs built us a system to enable workers to upload documents for identification and administrators to pay workers through a variety of payment systems, e.g. Paypal, Transferwise etc.

What were your goals for this project?

Entire web frontend and backend with multiple third-party integrations.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

I met Ralabs at a conference and liked their approach to building projects, which is built on the best modern standards and efficient minimal project management strategies. I compared them with 3-5 other vendors.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Built an entire web frontend for workers to:

upload documents
	view payment history
request payment and approval from a variety of payment sources
They also constructed an administrator panel with controls for approving payments and identification from workers. They then built a backend with an API including a Postgres Database schema. The backend had many complex state machines which were cleanly defined and implemented. They integrated with our deployment scheme and built into our Auth0 authentication system. There were many difficult state machines

What was the team composition?

One project manager and one senior full-stack developer.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The system has saved us several months of internal development and eliminated the need for hundreds of manual payments via Paypal, Transferwise and Bill.com monthly. This is projected to save us 40 man-hours internally every month.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management was extremely effective- we knew what was going on every day of the project and there were very few minor miscommunications which were mostly due to third-party vendors.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We've already performed maintenance on the codebase we were provided and were impressed at how easy it was to modify, work with or extend. Ralabs can be trusted with writing good, maintainable code that follows best practices. I was pretty worried about this going in so we're very happy at the outcome. They made MANY last minute changes as we were preparing to deploy without any schedule change which was very appreciated.

Are there any areas for improvement?

N/A

**The Review** — Jun 17, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: By dramatically improving the website's speed and performance, Ralabs boosted user retention rates while cutting server costs and streamlining the staff workflow. The team was always prompt, knowledgeable, and helpful. They worked long hours to deliver exceptional work in a timely manner.
""The team was extremely smart, intelligent, dedicated, and professional."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the head of digital at Hromadske.ua, the largest and most popular social network and nonprofit online media platform in Ukraine. We create independent television and radio broadcasts and have two million monthly active users. In 2014, we started broadcasting internationally to highlight news about Ukraine for an English-speaking audience.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

Since the website is the entry point to our business, it's crucial for it to be scalable and have a high-quality UI/UX. We needed an experienced, energetic, proactive team for full-stack software development, technical support, and maintenance.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals were to improve our metrics, particularly user retention, and reduce infrastructure support costs. We had a limited AWS budget, so we asked them to build and optimize the infrastructure based on the high-end costs. Like other media, our user traffic is irregular. Everything needed to work smoothly, regardless of whether we have 100 or one million unique users.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We found them through an open tender. During the final round, we chose Relabs from several award-winning agencies. We decided to work with them because we were on the same page and got along well. After a few meetings, we trusted their expertise in digital innovation.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Ralabs completely rebuilt our infrastructure, website, management panel, cloud WYSIWYG editor, and UX. We used Next.js, React, Node.js, AWS, and Kubernetes to develop all the features.

During a UX discovery phase, they built personas, prepared analytics, and created an AWS infrastructure that could handle our irregular load. We used an agile approach to release features iteratively. Eventually, they stored images and migrated content from AWS S3.

What was the team composition?

Initially, the CTO and CEO gathered requirements and prepared our feature backlog. We started with two software engineers. When we reached the development stage, we added seven engineers, one project manager, and a few QA engineers to produce a high-tech outcome. The team also included part-time DevOps engineers for deployments, configurations, and other elements of the release process.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

This project boosted the speed and performance of our website significantly. We improved user retention, decreased our bounce rate, and increased the time visitors spend on the site. We also reduced the cost of our AWS infrastructure and the time that our journalists spend managing the site.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We communicated through Slack and Jira and followed the Scrum methodology, focusing on the product backlog. We hosted the first few meetings in our office, after which I visited their headquarters several times.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The team was extremely smart, intelligent, dedicated, and professional. On the release date, they worked crazy overtime, delivering everything on time and fully functional.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We had some issues planning the processes and dividing tasks, but Ralabs solved them effectively. We successfully built and released an MVP to verify their technical approach, but it would have saved time to test everything before starting development.

I’m the CEO of Skytango, a cloud-based operations platform. We provide compliance services for pilots, their customers, and the cities and landowners the drones fly over.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ralabs?

We needed a team to take over the development of our backend database. A previous team left us with an unstable product that needed improvement. We also wanted them to build an AI process for litter detection, and a mobile app.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to streamline our current development and have a mobile app that enabled pilots to connect their workflows to relevant data. We also wanted to deploy a complete AI system to identify litter in the air.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Ralabs was recommended to us by our investors.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They designed a path to cover the issues our previous developers left us with. They began by stabilizing our platform and fixed problems with our critical systems. They implemented UX/UI features and performed backend development across our Google accounts, AWS, and other platforms.

What was the team composition?

Ralabs provided four teammates for the project, each with a different area of expertise.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The work Ralabs provided had a positive impact on our platform and overall business process. They found the right places to rebuild from our previous developers and the final product is stable.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The Ralabs team was easy to work with and managed our expectations well. They met every deadline for each sprint and managed the project fantastically.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They get the work done efficiently and professionally. Additionally, the value they offer is impressive.

**The Review** — Dec 7, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Ralabs has proven to be a reliable and talented partner. Their insight into the full development process pairs well with their production of quality code and knowledge of relevant technologies. The team’s transparent and communicative nature has fostered a successful remote engagement.
""I wouldn’t have been using Ralabs for two years if they weren’t phenomenal."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the VP of engineering at a health-tech platform.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

Ralabs provides a talented and vetted engineering team to assist with the development of our platform.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ralabs has primarily worked with the MERN stack, which includes MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js. Additionally, we’ve had some native development using Meteor and Koa. Working with Ralabs has been convenient for when we have one-off DevOps or design tasks, and they’re able to provide the appropriate resources for a week or two. That saves us from having full-time DevOps or design personnel.

What is the team composition?

Ralabs has provided as many as four or five developers at one time. Andrew (CEO, Ralabs) is usually involved as well because he’s well-versed in the technical components.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

Although I don’t remember how we initially found each other, the reason we’ve stuck with them is that their communication style suits us well. Ralabs navigates the time difference between California and Ukraine with ease. They try to overlap their days with ours as much as they can.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $60,000–$65,000 for their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve worked on an ongoing basis since 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’ve worked with a lot of development shops in the past, and I even used to have my own. I’ve rarely seen a development shop that produces the type of quality that Ralabs is capable of. They’ve been a thoroughly reliable and transparent partner.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

We have both been guilty of the occasional missed deadline, but Ralabs always takes the appropriate steps to correct course regardless of where a mistake came from. I’ve been very happy with their approach to solving all of our problems. They are also experienced with agile methodologies, which fits well with our workflow, and they have been flexible in communicating through Slack, WhatsApp, or Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They execute the work well, but some steps come before the execution as far as the planning and the design where Ralabs provides useful insight as well. It’s been valuable to work with their CEO, who is familiar with the product development process and has a sound technological background. Overall, the team produces high-quality code with these newer stacks. I’ve recommended them to multiple friends already, and it sounds like they’re working well for them also.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. In my experience of working with and vetting so many different development shops, I’ve come to learn fairly quickly if they’re a good fit. I wouldn’t have been using Ralabs for two years if they weren’t phenomenal.

If we needed a quick response, we reached out via Slack and we tracked the project through Trello. The development team submitted their problem reports (PRs) using GitHub.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Having worked with a lot of offshore developers, I know that communication is key to a successful partnership. **The Review** — Aug 23, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Ralabs' development, communication, and project management were all impressive throughout the project. Initiative and novel solutions to complex development challenges contributed to a successful partnership that both parties are planning to reinitiate in the future.
""They try to understand your business and solve your business needs, instead of blindly developing software."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a startup company working mostly with virtual reality & IoT. We have a lot of mathematical logic and machine learning and artificial intelligence under the box. The idea is to reinvent the smart home idea and go beyond the current limits. I’m co-founder and creator of the initial idea. For the most part, I’m focused on and responsible for sales to find new customers on the business to business side.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?
We wanted to build a complex app that supports the control of various IoT devices in people’s homes. We had a core concept at the beginning for an app in the smart home space. We knew that there were going to be a lot of math related challenges on the technical implementation so we requested help from Ralabs. We wanted them to make an MVP that would support a specific set of physical devices – smart TVs, thermostats, and few other devices. Additionally, we asked for their support with branding design. We have a background in branding design, but they helped us with that as well. Ralabs has both great design and engineering teams.
How did you come to work with Ralabs?
We researched companies using public resources and company lists, shortlisted companies, compared them, and made initial requests to each and background checks of each. We were pleasantly surprised by the speed of interaction with Ralabs, the answers they proposed, and their technical ideas. After the first technical call with Ralabs’ engineers, we were ready to start work with them as soon as possible. We were impressed by their desire to help us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We had already built a simpler app without Ralabs to test the idea and that app got a lot of great responses. So we asked Ralabs to look over that app, and without reusing it, build something similar but with much more complex features. To be honest, we didn’t have the technical knowledge of how our ideas could be implemented, or if it was possible at all. Software engineers from Ralabs investigated different topics and proposed the most suitable technical solutions per our requests. They also made a technical architecture - a skeleton for future app build outs and all of the related estimates. We were extremely happy with their initial work and came back to Ralabs with more development requests. The resources are skilled in Python, Node.js and React.
What is the team dynamic?
We hired a project manager, an engineering team, and QA testers. It was a great working experience from the initial request through to each demo for every milestone. They’re really good! The software engineering team consists of 5 developers, 1 project manager, and a QA analyst. Sometimes we also involve UI/UX resources, and more part-time QA engineers.
How much have you invested with them?
The total price was about $150,000 for 5 months of intensive development.
What is the status of this engagement?
After about five months of development, we completed the scope of work and the app in June [2017]. They’re supporting us currently while we work on sales activities on our side. We have work still to be done, so we’re slowly doing new feature development, but mostly they’re just supporting us right now.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We received a really good minimum viable product as we expected. It is ready to use and ready to sell. Ralabs also proposed new features, and we built them as well. They really shined when at one point we had a lack of data – Ralabs proposed a really good idea of how to setup our app to get more data for testing. We got incredible results and really appreciated that! They actually make the app work better and better every day.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are transparent in all things: development, communication, and management. Also, a great characteristic of Ralabs’ software engineers and the owners is their initiative. They try to understand your business and solve your business needs, instead of blindly developing software. I appreciate it! One more thing that I want to highlight - it looks like nothing is impossible for Ralabs. Seriously. When we asked them to investigate the car integration for future development (with the Tesla S), they responded honestly that they didn’t have previous experience with that and it could be a challenge. But after just one week they provide a comparison table that we wanted.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’m just thinking about price, but I think everything was fair and the price-quality ratio is really great. Ralabs is really good when it comes to management, communication, and development processes. They just need to continue work with the same (or even better) performance and quality as they have right now. We’re planning a to work together on a couple more small opportunities related to smart home projects.

**The Review** — Sep 28, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: The client's soft deadlines were all met and Ralabs was affordable in his mind so there were no complaints to be had with respect to the project. Testing, an oft-overlooked process, was also a success.
""Ralabs helped us to convert our abstract vision into real services."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

The goal of the application was to manage advertising companies. The main aim of the project is to simplify control of the advertising process. The project consists of three parts. The first part are bots that parse social networks and many other sites with ads full time. The second part was setting up an admin panel for operations with internal objects. The final part was developing the front-end side for viewing shared object pages. The panel gives the possibility to CRUD [create, read, update, and delete] and publishing operations, generating QR codes with URLs for external pages on the front-end side and contains two types of objects. All browsers are supported based on the WebKit, Presto, and Gecko engines and IE [Internet Explorer] 8 or greater. The front-end pages are oriented for mobile devices and use all the benefits from responsive web design. It also included front-end pages that have desktop, mobile, and tablet device detection. I am the founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

We tried to find somebody technical who could help us to build the app. We had the desire and technology vision, but we didn't have a team to implement our needs. Ralabs helped us to convert our abstract vision into real services.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We were completely open to any technology vision and approach, so we accepted numerous proposals from Ralabs developers. The initial scope consisted of end-user pages with a list of ads and to make a super-responsive page for users. The next sprints included the building of bots and increasing the functionality of admin pages. Until the end of the development sprints, about 95 percent of the covered sites had advertisements, and we're able to detect almost 100 percent of ads anywhere.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

We looked at a few companies but, after a technical interview and just talking with their CEO [Andrew Yas], we decided to choose them. Also, they had good feedback on their public profiles. They were able to build a test application that was so awesome that no other company could compare.

How much have you invested with Ralabs?

We had a team consisting of 6 developers. The total cost was in a range between $20,000 and $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started at the end of 2015 and finished a few months ago [2016].

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Everything has been a success – starting from management, development, testing, and so on. They covered all of our needs.

What did you find most impressive about Ralabs?

They have a clean technical vision and awesome management. They're able to meet deadlines.

Are there any areas Ralabs could improve?

Any business wants to get their product done faster and cheaper. However, I think the price wasn't that high, and they delivered the product by the deadlines.

CEO, CURSOR Education
- Industry: Information technology

- Client size: 11-50 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Sep 26, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: Besides the occasional minor misstep on the schedule, the client has been very pleased with Ralabs' quality and affordability. The biggest technical benefit has been their ability to translate design proposals into implementations with ideal UI/UX approaches.
""They [Ralabs] actually made improvements to our original idea. What they made was really awesome."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are a coding school. We are a school for people who want to become IT [information technology] specialists. We also train people who are already working in the IT field and want to be more productive and become experts. I'm the CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

We have many applications, beginning with our home page and site for internal usage, plus all of the systems for automatic calculations and information regarding our students. One of the latest things that Ralabs helped us to build was a system for automatically tabulating and verifying homework for our students.

Sometimes, we use a peer-to-peer approach for homework. In our school, we have classes where you can have up to 10 students. We have year-round peer-to-peer coding verification. It starts with students checking their classmates' homework. After that, we have the next level, where our technical mentors with experience check the homework. If it were necessary, the next level beyond that would be a teacher or other teachers from other courses who can check the homework and provide comments and instruction for each student if it's needed. For smaller pieces of homework, we use an application to do this automatically, and Ralabs helped us to plan and build the application to do that.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ralabs was more like technical support of all the things that we are doing. We have a bunch of tools for internal usage, and they helped us to implement them. For instance, they previously helped us with something related to Google Calendar. They created the relation between Google Calendar and our CRM [customer relationship management] system, which allowed us to manage our groups easily, track our students' information, and not leave out or lose any student information. Ralabs worked with us to provide more technical help. Most of the platform utilized MEAN stack. The primary languages involved are PHP, NodeJS & Express and Angular for frontend. Services included GitHub, Amazon Web Services and Docker. Integrations involved include ZohoCRM, Google Spreadsheets, Firebase and Trello.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

I think our friends recommended them. Before that, we had found some companies and had consultations that formed our basis of comparison. They are also located near us. We wanted to work with somebody who is near. Before we worked with them on anything else, we gave them a small technical task. They built it successfully, so we decided to work with them. They actually made improvements to our original idea. What they made was really awesome.

How much have you invested with Ralabs?

We've used 3 or 4 developers. It has probably cost around $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them at the start of this year in January 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We teach about 100 students and, in each group, we use all of the tools that they built. Any tool that they helped us to build was successful and is being used currently. It truly helped us to be a good school. I think all the work we've done with them has been successful.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

We use goals to measure their results. We decided not to use some complex approach. We wanted to use some Scrum methodologies. They recommended using Kanban, so we did that. We decided to use Trello, and we track all information on the boards. Also, after we integrated and used Trello in our tools, we began using Trello for CRM functions. They provide us help on project management, but we do not have a project manager from their side.

We have project management from our side. They provide us help for project management and help to set up the processes that we use to manage projects, but we do that ourselves.

What did you find most impressive about Ralabs?

I think something probably related to the design aspect – from the UI [user interface] point of view. We'll give them the overall idea, and they propose something that's a great fit for the idea. They also can convert an idea to the technology stack with the right UI. They also can build a UI that is awesome from the user experience side. It's cool for the end user to use the systems they can build.

Are there any areas Ralabs could improve?

They could probably do the work faster. They're always trying to complete projects before the deadline, and we understand that it's not always possible. It's not often late but, sometimes, they go beyond deadlines. It's almost always on time. So far, they are almost perfect, so we continue working with them.

**The Review** — Sep 20, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: Although the product has not been deployed because of complicating factors outside Ralab's scope, the client is satisfied with the final product. Most notably, the client was impressed by the frequent communication and Ralabs conformance to project timeline.
""The guys [Ralabs] were investigating every point... They were interested in developing what we really needed.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

MMA Center is a mixed fighting training center and competition organization. We started in the Western Ukraine region and then expanded ourselves to the entire Ukraine. We have training centers in five cities and organize tournaments around all of Ukraine. In terms of our regional office, we have 50 people, but in terms of all of Ukraine, it’s almost 300 employees. I'm the co-founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ralabs?

Ralabs designed for us a web application to schedule our training and synchronize it with all cities. We wanted to introduce the system so people who travel from city to city can continue their training within different cities and not lose anything while they are moving or if they cannot attend their training in their city. Also, we want to implement a PayPal system and WebMoney system to provide users the opportunity to pay for our services online. This system also includes an employee management system with everything we need to have such as tax calculations, etc.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The application was separated into two parts: the admin tools for employees, internal scheduling and management and the client part, where the clients can read news, can take part in meetings, tournaments, and also track their training systems, their trainers' schedules, and more.

How did you come to work with Ralabs?

We found them on Upwork. We are not tech oriented people but the guys did very well understanding how we described the problem and what we wanted as a final product. The communication was good. They were always on Skype. They also respond to e-mail. They do not fail deadlines, and that was the main reason it was good.

How much have you invested with Ralabs?

A little bit more than $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them eight or nine months ago. They finished our product in August, but we still haven’t published it to our internal programs.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t started using the product because of internal issues inside our company. We bought one hosting package for this site and then we decided to move to another host. We've had some problems with deploying the project, but it’s not related to Ralabs.

How did Ralabs perform from a project management standpoint?

We used JIRA, and we made a Skype call every Friday. They performed pretty well. Everything was in accordance with our terms. They don’t fail anything. There were not many bugs inside the product.

What did you find most impressive about Ralabs?

The communication was very good. They asked about everything, despite the description we gave them. It was our fault that the description was poor. The guys were investigating every point of the user interface. They were interested in developing what we really needed. The communication was the best part of that. I’m not technical. As a user and as a customer, I am satisfied with the product I received.

Are there any areas Ralabs could improve?

I don’t know. Maybe they can improve something, but I’m not a tech person.
