Introduce your business and what you do there. 

I’m the CEO of Premios Group, a consulting firm for oil and gas. We do software development, integration, and data warehouse projects for upstream oil and gas companies.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Pseudocode? 

We were developing a component of our data warehouse toolset. Since we do development and integration work, we sometimes need to hire subcontractors to help us with those projects.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Pseudocode did about 90% of the software development on the project, using .NET and C#. We provided the wireframes, and they developed specific screens to capture inventory data.

Then we did import and export to/from the database and the rest of the data warehouse toolset. The component fuses various meters in the upstream oil and gas operations digitally so that they can be moved around to different assets and tracked independently.

We had two developers working on the project. Our main point of contact was Zoran (Owner, Pseudocode).

Our contacts in Split, Croatia recommended them to us.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement? 

The project took place from October–December 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Pseudocode helped us staff the project quickly with quality people. We were able to get the tool launched with a quick time to market. The new component works well, so we're happy.

It hasn't been live for very long, but we still haven't had any issues. It's a point functionality application that is linked to other systems and offers good reliability. 

How did Pseudocode perform from a project management standpoint? 

We did most of the project management piece, including establishing the cadence as part of the initial project discussion. Pseudocode was quite good at being able to roll with our style. We used Jira to communicate and manage the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

They did quality work and were so responsive. Pseudocode analyzed the big problems and asked good questions. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

We didn't have any issues, so we were quite pleased. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I can't think of any advice. They were an excellent company to work with for our particular needs.

At the time we did this project, I was the CTO of a consultancy company. We managed sales for our clients.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pseudocode?

We were the middleman for a project. We needed a company to act as a subcontractor and provide coding.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The project was an app for iOS to track mountain biking activity. The app links to a phone and tracks speed and movement of users. They provided coding for the whole project and took over an existing app from the client. The original app was built in Objective-C, and Pseudocode adapted some of the existing code and added pieces with Swift. All elements were in native code for iOS.

The key feature was device integration. The device relayed information to the phone, and users could manage all that data via the phone.

What is the team composition?

We had one main point of contact, a lead developer, and at least one other developer working on this project.

How did you come to work with Pseudocode?

I worked with them at a previous company, and I knew they were excellent product developers.

How much have you invested with them?

For this project, we spent around $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project began in February 2018 and ended around August 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

None of the hours we invoiced were challenged. It was a great project financially, and everyone was really happy with the results. The client found investors based on the quality of the app, and we achieved all the goals we set out to accomplish.

How did Pseudocode perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent, especially as this client wasn't very easy to work with. Expectation management with the client was great, and they worked with us to resolve issues. Pseudocode had a good sense of what would please the client, and they always said the right thing.

Our main method of communication was phone. We spoke weekly over the phone and sent occasional emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They deliver in ways that other software developers don't. We got results, and they never got stuck in the details.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything they should improve or do differently.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Hire them if you want high quality. If you're more interested in saving money, find someone else. Don't negotiate with them.

I’m the chief software architect for Fortuna Entertainment Group at the Croatian branch based in Split. Our company has thousands of employees. We’re in the betting and gambling industry.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Pseudocode?

We needed help with game development for our entertainment group.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pseudocode developed two games for us. Their task was to create these games for our self-service channels and online betting. The games can be viewed on desktop and mobile. This app was supposed to be usable on all our channels and screen sizes, from mobile to our terminals. Their team used HTML, and also completed integrations with our backend systems.

They also had to integrate an HTML app with the terminal, which was a challenge to create a web browser using a Chrome embedded framework. Pseudocode also performed some reverse engineering on one of our older applications that one of their apps were going to replace. They kept documentation of the existing and functional specifications.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three or four developers.

How did you come to work with Pseudocode?

The owner of the company was a former employee. We wanted to outsource this project to Pseudocode because we knew he did high-quality work.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent around $120,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We engaged with Pseudocode on this project from February 2017–February 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

While we did have a few technical challenges, the code Pseudocode delivered was of high-quality and usable. Their team also provided the results from testing, which was important to us.

How did Pseudocode perform from a project management standpoint?

Pseudocode met expectations, delivering what we requested. Most of the time, their team had to deal with the changes we made to specifications.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The reverse engineering of the existing application was a slight challenge, but the new code that came as a result of that was extremely impressive.

I’m the product owner of an online booking system for Boat Bike Tours. We operate tours in the Netherlands.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pseudocode?

Our booking system was outdated and slow. We needed a partner to create a new process that would bring us to the next level.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pseudocode developed a website and a new booking engine for us. Based on an example we provided, their team designed the platform, which hosts the booking system. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 5–6 Pseudocode teammates. Specialized developers built the booking system, which designers and UX team members reviewed.

How did you come to work with Pseudocode?

A colleague recommended Pseudocode. We talked, connected, and the collaboration grew from there.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve invested between $250,000–$500,000 in the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in October 2018, and the partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve increased the number of bookings we're able to handle. Fewer teammates are needed to process the requests, which means we're working more efficiently. Their team also made requesting tours much easier. The platform has been a big win for us. Our partnership with Pseudocode allows us to keep improving and we see the results of those efforts every day.

How did Pseudocode perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve used Slack for communication. They’ve been open and flexible with hours. If a task needs to be completed or a change needs to be made, their team won’t go home until the assignment’s finished.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Pseudocode’s communication has been impressive; it’s clear and open. Diving into the project, their team has connected with us and our goals. We feel good working with them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve experienced changes of developers but that’s part of the process. It hasn’t been a downside rather something to be aware of.

Be open about goals. Communicate ideas and any internal challenges as Pseudocode can build a solution.
