We usually hire external developers from different agencies, as well as freelancers, to execute our projects. On this occasion, we needed a development partner to help us with website and web app development projects for our end customers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

ProperWeb Technologies acted as a development partner for executing web development projects, as well as a few digital marketing tasks. Their main project was developing a WordPress-based marketing website from scratch and finally delivering it to our customer.

The team took care of the end-to-end development work, starting with the entire WordPress setup for the website and then creating pages, adding content, images, and more. Then, they set up all the required plug-ins essential to run the website before delivering the final output.

ProperWeb Technologies also developed custom web applications using PHP. For these apps, we first gave them our customers' requirements, and the team then developed those web applications based on those. Basically, ProperWeb Technologies provided us with the resources required to execute end-to-end web application solutions.

ProperWeb Technologies wasn't responsible for the design or hosting of these solutions. We gave them the designs, and they took care of the development. Once deployed, hosting was handled by either my company or the end customer.

We worked with 2–3 teammates from ProperWeb Technologies, depending on how many resources we required for each project.

I initially worked with one individual from ProperWeb Technologies as a freelancer. He eventually moved to this company and told me about the amount of resources they offered to us. Since he was the only developer working for us, it was hard to use other tech stacks. Once he introduced ProperWeb Technologies, I was able to onboard multiple tech stacks into my project.

The rapport I had built with this developer over a year was great; I was already used to working with him. Once he introduced me to his company, I noticed that he was managing other projects, which would make it easier for me from the operational side. Moreover, ProperWeb Technologies' pricing was more convenient, and the amount of resources they had would make it easier for me to use them whenever I had new requirements, whether they were urgent or not.

We spent around ₹160,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2022, and our last project concluded in June 2024. Still, we're waiting for new projects to engage with ProperWeb Technologies again. We've already signed a couple of projects with our end customers, but the development hasn't started yet. Basically, we're just waiting to give them the go-ahead so that they can start working on a new project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We recently did an e-commerce website for one of our customers, and the feedback from the customer was that it was more convenient for them to run the business online. Earlier, they used to do it offline. We were able to execute the project for our customer in a better way, so in that sense, the work that ProperWeb Technologies did was really good. They were able to achieve what we wanted for our customer.

How did ProperWeb Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

ProperWeb Technologies' project management was really good, as they were able to understand the requirements. There were a few glitches here and there, but those were part of what the customers gave us as a requirement, which was sometimes not understandable. Overall, ProperWeb Technologies was able to get the requirements and scope in detail. I explained everything to them, and they were able to execute it, so there was no hand-holding required. Once I communicated something in an email, they did it.

We usually connected via Skype. I preferred to connect with them every day because I handled the project management side and the requirements, so I kept an eye on what they were doing every day. Still, we usually connected 3–4 times a week, unless we needed to connect every day. We also used Jira for project management.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I would like to give a shout-out to the backend developer. She handled most of my projects and acted as a lead, executing WordPress and PHP web app projects. I worked with her on all the projects. She was able to take our requirements and define the scope. Moreover, She helped us manage junior developers and coordinate the tasks we gave to them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication was impressive. Even though we were far away, we were able to communicate in proper English and share what we wanted to convey to each other. They were also accommodating of any urgent work that came in. If they were not available, they told me in advance so that it was easier for me to plan.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if we had worked with a small group rather than a single teammate who handled all the communication. Everyone needed to be able to grasp the requirements in more detail. It would have been easier for me as a client if I could share the requirements so that everyone on the team knew them. Instead, I had to explain the requirements to each team member, which was a bit more time-consuming. However, this is just an advice, not a big concern.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Trust them. Be clear about what you want, and you’ll eventually get the results in terms of work. I certainly recommend people work with them.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Since Mentora Method targets teaching English in nine major languages, it has been downloaded by 2000 users, received 5 rating across the globe from Chile to China and enabled the underprivileged to learn English on their mobile phones although we couldn't allocate any funds for advertisement and dissemination campaign.

In view of App downloads, App retention, App rating, App store reviews and cost per acquisition metrics, we opted to put it on the back burned for a while and integrate Vocabulary Mentor module and reach out to preeminent companies specializing in language teaching.

As an English teacher, I was totally digital immigrant and had rudimentary knowledge regarding the development of a mobile app. Yet, Properweb family has been a everready guide for me to walk through all the hardships in developing a project architecture to identify the most appropriate technical solution, building a product roadmap and doing UI/UX research to define the best look and feel for your software.

They tested every piece of code and stuck to the plan and gave regular feedback on how development is going. During the release stage, they made backups of the stable version of the product and checked that all servers are working correctly.

As it can be clearly seen, the most challenging aspect and pitfall in bringing about Mentora Method was not only distance but also the collosal heap of linguistic data coupled with audio and pictorials.

They performed their wizardry and ingenious algorithms to overhaul the whole data and revamp it into a global app.

I haven't had the chance of shaking the hands of Properweb family and congratulate them. Financial constraints and Corona Epidemic have stalled our progress to perfect the app. It would have been an amazing experience to work with them face to face in the same office.

Sometimes, deliverables take more time, but ProperWeb Technologies Pvt. Ltd. meets all requirements in the end. 

We used to communicate and collaborate with ProperWeb Technologies Pvt. Ltd. through some applications, but we couldn't follow tasks because this was a huge project. Communication is a little bit difficult because of our time difference, but now, we collaborate on a daily basis. Their responsibilities included implementing feedback, collaborating with our in-house team, and conducting thorough testing. Key deliverables were a complete and functional frontend codebase, responsive design, and some functionality development.

 The project resulted in improved user engagement and satisfaction, thanks to the appealing and responsive design. As there were many product images on the site they optimized the loading of images which resulted in overall experience being smoother and faster, leading to a quicker project completion.
