What challenge were you trying to address with Plego Technologies?We needed to convert our website to a different platform. Our existing platform didn't allow us to manage the website ourselves, so one of our goals was to be able to change content ourselves without involving a third party.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Plego Technologies provided us with web development. We had an existing website hosted somewhere else, and Plego Technologies took it and converted it into WordPress. Our goals were for the website to work as it did before and for us to be able to manage the content ourselves.We had a kickoff call and then weekly engagements with them. The team designed a few aspects of the site, including our projects page. Once the design was further along, Plego Technologies gave us access to a test site so we could watch the development. We did a two-week testing period and then did the cutover.What is the team composition?We worked with three teammates from Plego Technologies, including Saad, our project manager, and Muhammad, our technical project manager. How did you come to work with Plego Technologies?We found them through a Google search. We had drafted a set of requirements for our website conversion, and they were one of the companies we reached out to. They provided a quote based on the requirements and were one of the few that responded to the request.How much have you invested with them?We spent around $40,000.What is the status of this engagement?We worked together from May–September 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?The point of the project was for us to be able to adjust the website ourselves. The website is performing about the same as it did before, which is great. The conversion was seamless, and it looks and functions exactly how we want it to. The projects page they designed looks way better since they got their hands on it. How did Plego Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?They delivered on time and within budget and communicated well. We primarily used email.Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?Saad played the role of project manager. He very kindly helped us through the website process from start to finish, including deployment — he was awesome.What did you find most impressive about them?Overall, the project was executed really well. I've done many website conversions, and the outcome isn't usually this good. We had many challenging requirements, and Plego Technologies filled in the blanks really well, which was great because sometimes that’s hard, especially when a client doesn’t know what they want. For example, they revamped our projects page, going off loose requirements, and it turned out great. Are there any areas they could improve?No, I don’t think there was anything they needed to improve on.Do you have any advice for potential customers?Make sure you come equipped with what you’re looking for and what you want to get out of it. Think through it and come prepared with how you want it to look; that will speed up the process. We spun our wheels a little bit when it came to revamping a few of the pages because we hadn't thought through it, so I would recommend coming prepared.

I thought about porting to a different platform, but I didn’t want the time and money expense. Our website was complicated and didn’t fit Shopify, and we had so many custom components.

That was the first step of the engagement. At present, we’re still in the process of building the website. We’ve done a complete redesign with weekly meetings to go over our progress. Apart from working on our shopping cart and checkout experience, the team has added features such as push notifications to help us advertise and promote products. We’ve added a video to our homepage. They’ve designed the video player for that. Moreover, we’ve implemented some other minor changes to the website. I can only afford 10 hours per week — this isn’t much time, and coding can take a lot of effort, especially since our website has messy code. Considering all these, the Plego Technologies team has been doing a great job. They’re using their time well as they work efficiently with my limited budget. Moreover, I’ve enjoyed working with Saad and Haris. They’re both great.To communicate, we use Google Meet for meetings. I use monday.com and emails to track the changes we want to make. Also, they could communicate better all the services they provide. We hired them to assist us with web development. We had a customer-facing website and wanted Plego Technologies to do some design work on it and then build out some API functionality and a user dashboard for how the site operates.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an existing website, and Plego Technologies has redesigned it and built additional features. Initially, we provided them with a requirements document with steps and segments of the project, which we developed throughout our conversations with them. 

The website allows e-commerce resellers to register an account and integrate their accounts on storefronts like Amazon, Walmart, Wish, or eBay. We use visual search technology and natural language processing with proprietary databases of trademark registration to identify potentially infringing content in product listings in advance of rightsholders using scraping technologies. Our site gives the users a heads-up to modify or take down content that might result in litigation or platform strikes that can be extremely expensive. 

The team has worked on the website's frontend, moving it from WordPress to a React framework. They've also developed a CMS that enables us to edit the content on the front-facing pages. Plego Technologies has created a user dashboard and worked on how our site integrates with other platforms. Additionally, the team has worked on the backend billing technology, including referral codes and some light accounting features. They've built visualization through a dashboard that illustrates data about the user's stores, listings, and problems we're identifying for them. This way, users can keep track of what they need to do. 

At its most basic level, users can create an account and log into our website. From there, they integrate their other seller accounts with our dashboard through several steps, allowing us to see their other accounts on the backend. We use APIs to scan the user's data about product listings and give them notifications if they have a problem. Users can also register an account if they want a referral code, which involves the same process. Platforms or storefronts can also work with us on the API side. The tool scans platforms and gives them feedback so that they don't have to deal with subpoenas or court orders due to their sellers' actions. 

Plego Technologies is engaged with us on an ongoing basis to provide maintenance and technical support for the site; if something breaks, they fix it. Currently, they're working on some UX design. A tester provided feedback on the website's UX, we sent that feedback to Plego Technologies, and they're working on incorporating it.

We primarily work with three teammates from Plego Technologies, although they have more team members working from offshore. 

How did you come to work with Plego Technologies?

I found them through a Google search. They were local, and finding a provider that was close was important to us. Moreover, software development tends to be hired through the big box or freelancing. The project scope was too much for a freelancer, and Plego Technologies was a medium-sized outfit. They were responsive and seemed to do good work, so we chose them.

We’re satisfied with the work Plego Technologies has done and their turnaround time. Although development has been slow due to my demanding day job, we’re currently marketing the site. They deliver items on time and get back to us when we reach out. Moreover, the invoices we receive from them are reasonable. We communicate through email, phone calls, and Zoom meetings. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Plego Technologies’ responsiveness distinguishes them from other providers. Before working with them, it seemed as though our requirements were indifferent to other providers at the outset. Coding is a unique product with unique characteristics. When we tried to explain what we needed to developers, they didn’t seem to be interested in the characteristics of the project but rather in onboarding us. 

Meanwhile, Plego Technologies demonstrates an appreciation for the project and what it could do. We’re not just another client to them; they’re interested in getting our project to work because they like it and see its value.

Plego Technologies designed and developed two websites from scratch using a Joomla CMS. Both sites had a similar look and feel; one was for bridal and mother-of-the-bride fashion, and the mirror site was for prom dresses, quinceañeras, and such events. 

First, we gave them our requirements, and they presented a proposal, showing us the look and feel and how we would add new dresses from the backend. We went through several design iterations; we drove the process, and they provided suggestions. At their recommendation, they built a landing page split into two sections: one for weddings and another for proms and quinceañeras, so users could choose where they wanted to go. 

Additionally, they helped us integrate Google Analytics into the new sites. Plego Technologies built a store locator feature where users could see a list of stores in their area to try on dresses they found on the site. They also provided consultancy about the CMS and walked me through the site.

Once we got the new site, our bounce rate went down, user time spent on the site went up, and sales also went up. The landing page they suggested helped drive users where we wanted them to go without them being confused about where to navigate; this helped with our bounce rate and drove user acquisition to where we needed it. The CMS also made it easy for us to log in and update our dresses every season or remove ones that were sold out or weren't selling well. This way, we avoided customers' confusion. Moreover, Joomla was easy to understand and get the hang of, which helped our bottom line as far as making changes ourselves. 

Plego Technologies was very accommodating throughout the design process; they listened to our feedback and gave suggestions. We appreciated their expertise because this was our first time redoing a website, and they'd done it several times before. 

How did Plego Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They met the deadline and stayed on budget, so their project management was excellent. We were an old-school-style company, so we didn't use project management tools. Instead, we talked to them on the phone and had them come into our office to discuss their progress.

They were very good about sticking to what I wanted to see happen. Some of my ideas turned out to be not the best decisions, so they changed them after the site went live.

We hired Plego to be our technology partner for the Chicago Parks District’s website and app development. We came up with overall program such as its design and identity, while they handled its technical aspects. They attended client meetings that required greater technical knowledge with us, so they could answer the client’s questions. The site was specifically created for southeast Chicago, a subset within the broader Chicago Parks District. They collaborated with us to ensure that our proposal would technologically integrate with what Chicago Parks District already does. The app is a virtual scavenger hunt based in the different park systems, and targeted at various age groups in order to create an experience either the whole family or older people that may not be there with kids.

We wanted to include gaming techniques for the app by including leaderboards, score counts, and accolades as people moved through the program. Plego completed all the programming for it. They worked with our team to determine what aspects and functions would be most feasible to implement and most likely to be used on phones within the targeted community and population. Initially, we wanted to include GPS capabilities for this app. Plego clearly provided us with information regarding GPS programming such as the large amount of memory space it would take up, which our user base wouldn’t be able to handle that on their phone. In this way they guided us on what was most practical for the app as well as what would leverage the best execution of our vision. The app is available for both iOS and Android; iTunes is currently working to make it available in the App Store.

We were referred to them through a mutual contact, and we didn’t consider any other companies. They are also a minority owned partner, which we needed.

What is the status of this engagement?

The approval process for this contract took longer than anticipated, but we began working together in June 2017 and completed the project in September 2017. We have a 2-year contract, and we expect to collaborate with them again in the spring.

We have received a lot of positive feedback from the client, which they gathered through observations made from others and their key stakeholders about the program. We’re happy with the website and app, but we will get a better sense of the program’s full impact in the spring because there isn’t as much park activity during the winter season.

How did Plego Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They were adaptive and flexible throughout our collaboration. They were responsive throughout all of our interactions. They had representation present at all of our meetings, so they stayed engaged and involved. I’m a novice when it comes to understanding the technical backend of development, which is why we hired them, and they were fantastic. They were willing to ensure that everything ran smoothly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I work in the design industry, which is highly populated by egotism. However, I didn’t experience any of this while working with them. For instance, although they have design capability, we didn’t use them for that purpose, but they never tried to interject their designs into the project. They focused on meeting the needs of the client by using the best functioning interface for the product.

There is a marked difference in the industries we operate in, despite being adjacent. For example, our methods of billing differ. This was more of an annoyance because we didn’t get paid from our client until the project was completed, but we had to pay Plego upfront.

They don’t supply 24-hour service, so if a game goes down in the middle of the night, I have to wait until the morning to fix it. Some bars are open until 2 or 3 in the morning, so that can be an issue. But other than that, they do a great job.

If I don’t like what they made, they’re willing to fix it at the original price we discussed. It wasn’t always like that, but we’ve come to have a great partnership. I’m still with them because they provide good customer service and work.

We needed to migrate our sales support tool from MySQL to SQL when our client base and the number of listed products grew too large for the former. We required a partner familiar with PHP to build a new database with increased capacity.

First, the team learned our software, how it’s integrated with our web applications, and subsequently designed a schema to scale the database. They built integration tools to allow communication between the old and new databases. That helped execute product updates, revisions, and deletions. After completing the database and its integration points, the team built out the support.

Since we’re a small company, we use Plego on a number of related projects. This has been our practice since the initial engagement. We’ve collaborated on custom web and e-commerce projects in addition to digital communication between our applications and client web services. Currently, they’re helping to migrate our existing WebGL platform to another vendor. Other services include: PHP, programming assistance, PayPal integration, JavaScript, and HTML.

Since our business is based on a subscriber model, we measure this project’s success by client attrition. We would have lost larger accounts in the SQL development did not occur. It’s very important to us that our databases are stable and can accrue additional information. Our tools are managed on a daily basis and need to be operating 24/7.

We communicated with Amin [Managing Partner, Plego] closely. We had bi-weekly meetings with his team. Overall, they’re very competent; we never worried about deadlines. They hit milestones without charging more than the original estimates.

At Jessup Manufacturing, we make adhesive coated films that go into many industries; everything from other manufactured products, to transportation, to even some medical and consumer goods. I’m the VP of marketing and strategy.

We needed to create a product information management database. Plego is strong in structured data, so we hired them to create our product information database that we use today.

We also had rebranded and repositioned the company, and we needed to create a new website along with that. We had multiple websites for different brands, and we decided to consolidate them into a single corporate website that would span all these brands.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

For the product information database, Plego Technologies started from scratch. We didn’t have one place where all the product information resided. We basically mapped to our enterprise system for certain types of data on the standard parts that we sell that would be part of our engineering master. Then we added marketing data, such as short and long descriptions, feature bullets, and photographs.

We use the database internally and externally. We’ve created a standardization, and it’s a resource to everyone in the company for product information on standard products. It gave us a huge productivity boost and helped us with the quality and accuracy of all kinds of information uses. It’s kept up to date, and it’s a central repository. There’s clear accountability for who keeps the data clean. The external benefits are very significant also. We sell through distribution, and many of our customers have online stores, so we provide data feeds from this database to our customers. That’s a critical benefit to them.

For the website project, in addition to creating the site, the task was to import all the relevant pages and information from the other four existing sites. That was a considerable task. We had started down a path, both creatively and technically, with a different company. We found they did not have the capacity to do all that we wanted. We went to Plego, who was working on the database project at that time, and asked if they had the capabilities. They said they did, and they helped us create that website and get it launched. Since then, they’ve been providing maintenance and updates. WordPress is the basis for the content, and then we decided together to change the hosting of the websites from GoDaddy to Rackspace, with a dedicated server.

We had specific ideas about how we wanted the website to function. We got some samples of WordPress templates and had them tested technically by Plego. An independent design firm did the design, and then we handed it off to Plego. I work more with the principles of the firm, so I can’t even say how many team members they had on our projects. I know they have a larger team, and my connection with them is limited. For example, if we have enhancements or bugs to be fixed, we load it into a tracking program called Lean Testing. Other team members review it, but I don’t deal with them directly.

Plego Technologies worked for me when I was with a previous employer. I hired them to do another product database, some web maintenance, and enhancements.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started work in September of 2014, and we launched the website in December of 2015. Our relationship with Plego Technologies is ongoing for maintenance and updates.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
I don’t have specific metrics on hand. I can say that there have been significant increases in traffic to our website. As far as the productivity gained from the database, it’s so high that it’s like night and day. During our transition, we literally went from weeks to prepare documents for customers, down to minutes. It’s a great leverage that we have now with this database.
Both projects are great regarding reliability, functionality, and stability. Since these were developed uniquely for us, we had some bugs to fix, but that’s part of having applications. We worked through them.
How did Plego Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Plego Technologies is very good. I like that they are very service-minded and customer-focused. We use Lean Tracking to track bugs, and we have used Basecamp, which is useful for people outside the company.
What did you find most impressive about Plego Technologies?
I would say the service level is really one of Plego Technologies' strengths. They certainly know the technology, but their ability to respond to customers is impressive. When you’re talking about technology tools, they’re 24/7. Sometimes needs come up over the weekend or at any time, and it could be day or night. It’s very valuable to me that, if we get an attack on our site on a Saturday night, I can actually get a response from Plego. I think that is a strength. They clearly understand business applications very well. They’ve been great partners.

EngageVE is a startup that wanted to capitalize on the need for Virtual Events at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the goal was to develop a website that clearly defined the brand and the unique value proposition that the new events platform would offer. 
The site needed to introduce EngageVE to the world while also giving its users a sense of experience and knowhow based on the founders backgrounds. Moreover, the website needed to incorporate appealing and user-friendly features to keep the audience engaged, expand the company’s reach, and optimize conversion rates.

The time had come for Advocate Construction to refresh their website. Their previous website, built in 2015 also by Plego, had been extremely successful. Features such as autoplay video backgrounds, parallax scrolling, sticky headers, slide out mobile headers, and a more interactive overall mobile experience.

SMISS had an older website that was out of date, lacking in some key information, and was difficult to navigate.

An easy to use "Find a Surgeon" utility 5. Allow users to view Abstrat library, Case Libraty and educational videos 6. Ability to view webinars 
Plego was tasked to meet the above goals.

Plego designed and developed a brand new website for SMISS via WordPress. We separated the site into functional sections that allowed users to browse the site according to their specific purpose.
The home page's primary purpose was to promote three activities for users. Find a Surgeon, Get info about Annual Forum, and Join Now. Below that it featured access to the case library, gave information about it’s board and information about why to join the membership. 
Other critical sections included the Membership portal integration, Patient Resources, Case Library and of course their Online CME. Put together, the whole of the site made the SMISS organization's website a complete online resource for their members to learn and interact with the society and their fellow members.

They required a dynamic online 3D platform to display or demo new and innovative products and solutions for themselves and their partners as an alternative to live in-person events.
Wipro (Appirio) also needed to bring attention to and promote a number of deserving charities.
They also intended the virtual event to be a great experience and wanted to demonstrate the culture within HELIX 2021.

The objective was to provide an immersive global experience beyond a traditional webinar, allowing attendees to explore different venues and develop better business relationships to endure brand loyalty.

When the world was focused on wellness and pandemic outbreaks had significant social impacts, many live events, conferences, and webinars were shut down. Fitbit, an American consumer electronics and fitness company needed to produce the right solution to launch their new products and features.
To ensure that its audience got the most out of the experience, Fitbit needed to translate the features of its physical exhibit into a virtual one.
DELIVERED:
Plego conceived and designed an immersive Virtual Island experience that allowed visitors to attend a product unveiling at an exotic virtual beachfront location.
We also integrated the latest technologies keeping the vision of “Fitbit” in mind, from naming URL to Hosting Server, organizing landing pages to on-demand RSVP Reports; everything was maintained using DBMS.A panoramic view and an aerial viewpoint inside an event provided a sense of exact location regardless of distance.

ZS Associates is a global firm that provides services in healthcare, technology, and finance. They have always welcomed their clients to visit their offshore office in India. But with Covid-19 shutting down live events for 2020 and 2021 it became clear that they needed an alternative way of hosting their clients. 
It was quite the challenge for the team in India, which treasured exposing potential clients to their qualified staff and engaging them in their own culture.
ZS Associates needed a way to engage with clients in meetings that felt like real life, with the same zest, colors and symbols that their global brand exudes.
DELIVERED:
Plego was brought on to provide an engaging online hub that could be used as a 3D Virtual Meeting Space for prospective clients as well as a place to host internal events.
Our team established an engaging virtual hub, framed with simulated meeting room(s) for potential clients and created a custom environment that had the look and feel ZS Associates intended while integrating critical internal meeting tools.
To keep security as an essential factor, Plego allowed ZS to safeguard this private virtual company hub and incorporated the option to add and exclude participants, ensuring the correct invitees were on the platform at the right time.
The architecture, layout, and functionality of this virtual hub was fully customized for ZS Associates and the specific needs of their team.

As a Movie Theater and Restaurant, Hollywood Blvd Cinema was dealing with a cumbersome CMS that was difficult to manage.

This platform would help beverage companies shorten the drawn-out process of extracting data from menu cards (Bars / Restaurants) and apply it to market research of Wines, Spirits, Cocktails, and other products to achieve target.  While also eliminating unreliable data and minimizing additional workforce.
DELIVERED:
Plego successfully developed and delivered a beverage sales support platform that uses machine learning techniques to extract text information from menu cards and segment the data automatically.
The application is designed with multiple mathematical calculations and logic retrieving text information from the menu using Optical Character Recognition – OCR, Text Planning, and Natural Language Generation – NLG. 
Developers employed AI and ML statistical tools and an Open-Source Computer Vision Library to guide and distinguish the menu’s categories, segment data and provide more accurate and effective results.

### Magic Chef
GOAL:
Magic Chef has been a household name that at-home chefs turn to for dependable, easy-to-use kitchen appliances. They had multiple processes in place for their inventory and quote management activities. These activities consisted of managing multiple spreadsheets, numerous email chains, and manually editing data within the spreadsheets based on analysis of past data.
This process was very time consuming and cumbersome.
For inventory management, the primary driver of this process was an Excel sheet. The data was manually retrieved from their back-end system, SAGE (ERP), and entered into an Excel Sheet. This sheet was also used to forecast inventory. They adjusted the spreadsheet to adjust for sales growth to allow for a more accurate forecast. This process was also manual. Users had to analyze previous period’s data without the assistance of any sophisticated algorithms or metrics, only what was available to them in Excel.
Magic Chef was in need of a major technology and process upgrade which Plego delivered!
DELIVERED:
Plego developed a cloud based web application that made the entire process more efficient. A Forecasting solution was also developed and integrated with their SAGE ERP system. This solution allowed Magic Chef to integrate all their processes previously held within certain spreadsheets into a robust, efficient, dynamic and real-time web application.
The application allowed for greater potential for reporting, advanced calculations, greater historical data, faster retrieval and search of data, controlled access and permissions, and accessibility anywhere in the world.
The workflows for sales, logistics and sourcing teams have been fully integrated. Automatic notifications and updates to relevant team members make the communication within teams much more efficient. The need for exchanging files or emails has been negated with this fully integrated management system in place.

### Scan AM
GOAL:
Scan Am has been a pioneer in advanced public health and safety communication systems. They desired to automate the processes of Hospital Care Technicians so that they can respond to patient needs in the most timely and efficient manner.
The fact that hospitals still used dry erase marker boards to update patient schedules, precautions, and other relevant information was a troublesome one affecting the quality and accuracy of the information immediately available to a patient.
They wanted to ensure that Patient Care Technicians had access to accurate, real-time patient data in and outside the patient room.
DELIVERED:
Plego was brought on to develop a custom five-part EMR solution for hospitals.
Plego designed and developed an application with centrally supervised precautions to manage control of precautions displays for each room, 
While enabling remote functionality to update the patient room boards, inform families, and plan of care, Plego automated centrally maintained electronic whiteboards and integrated a reports management package through charts and graphs to increase staff efficiency, track their progress, and provide comprehensive consulting.

GOAL: 
Franklin Covey is a world leader in helping organizations achieve results that require lasting changes in human behavior, often the most difficult challenge any organization faces. When accomplished, it is also the most durable competitive advantage.  
They had the need to implement multiple eCommerce instances, but they had to share the same back-end platform for inventory management purposes.
DELIVERED:
Plego implemented a multi-site Magento strategy for Franklin Covey. Each site had a different theme, purpose, and mission. Some stores focused on training and events and others were more focused on the sale of products. At the end of the day, they all shared the same Magento back-end.
The combined stores have over 10,000 skus, along with 2,000 events/courses. Events can be on-site or virtual. On-site events must choose locations from a custom event locations database. There is a custom Magento to Moodle integration for Online courses as well.

LeaseFHS (Custom CRM System)
Custom CRM system for LeaseFHS, a corporate housing rental management company.
 
GOAL:
LeaseFHS, a corporate housing rental management company, wanted to move away from their third-party software and implement a custom-built CRM system. This new system needed to efficiently manage inbound and outbound sales, customer bookings, and guest management. Additionally, it needed to integrate seamlessly with existing tools and automate workflows.
DELIVERED:
Plego created a custom CRM system tailored to LeaseFHS's specific requirements. This new CRM helped sales reps stay on top of deals and track leads more effectively. Administrators could manage client bookings, send invoices through the reservation module, and keep track of client payments. The system also included modules for task management, scheduling housekeeping and maintenance, managing media content, and a ticket system for reporting issues. This comprehensive solution streamlined the sales process, provided valuable insights, and significantly boosted the overall efficiency of LeaseFHS operations.
