I’m the digital project director at OmniaMed Communications, a global medical communications agency working on behalf of pharmaceutical companies. Our product, GP notebooks, provides medical information to healthcare professionals (HCPs) in different therapy areas across the UK, the US, Australia, and India. We have a main website containing this information and several microsites for different pharmaceutical companies to educate HCPs, healthcare experts, and everyone working within the industry.

It's a challenging industry since there are different legal processes, and we can't advertise the same way in all countries. We must follow the pharmaceutical code of conduct.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pagepro?

We needed help with web development for our main product, the GP notebook websites, which contain a vast amount of data. Given that these are totally independent websites for different clients, and we make them on their behalf, each website requires thorough development. It's worth noting that the content of the websites needed to adjust to the different global restrictions and guidelines regarding the digital and pharmaceutical industries.

However, this content couldn't be changed dynamically since we had already approved and signed it off. So, the challenge was adapting each website's content to respect nations' restrictions while keeping it as close as possible to the original source. It was a complex challenge.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pagepro has rebuilt our main GP notebook website. They’ve worked on that site and the other microsites for our clients. We’ve scoped everything out and provided them with documentation. The team has built everything from scratch based on feedback from different design sources, as we collaborate with three different design studios.

Pagepro has supplied 70% of the Figma files for the frontend. Moreover, the team has built a full stack website using Next.js and distributed the content to different regions using Sanity. The websites are multi-regional, so all the content needs to be customizable per region globally. Not to mention, Pagepro is currently maintaining the website and integrating new features periodically, making each feature available across all different site versions and releasing them upon our approval.

Over the last two years, we’ve had around 10 people in total: Michał, the project manager, a head developer, a junior developer, and others in the background. People definitely review the websites' code.

Pagepro had already been working with the company for around four years when I joined.

We’ve spent around £200,000. This amount includes the maintenance and our current projects.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since September 2023, our US site has had around 70,000 page views. These websites are quite peculiar since their content can't be indexed on any website, and the only people viewing them are targeted HCPs, so these numbers are remarkable. We drive traffic through emails and directly to the HCPs within our networks.

We’ve had a few smaller bugs, and Pagepro has quickly fixed them. Everything built has functioned as intended, and Pagepro has exceeded our expectations.

How did Pagepro perform from a project management standpoint?

They have met expectations regarding meeting deadlines and budget management. We use Jira and Asana for project management. Besides, we communicate through Slack, email, and Google Meet, and have had weekly calls and many meetings.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Michał has been exceptionally good; he has helped ease the transition between several junior developers assigned to our project. I've done massive Salesforce projects and know how much knowledge the architects should have, and he's been extremely good at providing solutions in this role.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Pagepro's architecture and solutions are impressive; they're the team's main strength. We frequently have changing requirements and delay approving any changes, but they have been very good while adjusting the sites' functionalities. Overall, juggling our requirements, the legal and medical policies, and the websites' backend structure has been a complex challenge they have successfully overcome.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be nice if they had an internal design team, given that there tends to be a lot of back and forth regarding the project's frontend.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Plan out all the outcomes you want right from the start, and remember what you want from the solution. Try to map out every single scenario upfront so Pagepro can create a fitting solution.

We hired PagePro to continue the custom build out of our backend document generation processes and extend support of the new Just In Case Estates members portal.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

PagePro nailed development and completion of a previous project that we did with them in 2021, and so it was an easy decision to engage them for our next scope of work.

We worked with PagePro on a previous engagement, and so the PP team was already familiar with our infrastructure and able to dive right in to the project. PagePro refactored the node.js document generation scripts we previously built to work for both initial user form submission and subsequent form / data editing in the members portal.

To empower our new members portal, PagePro helped launch our custom API to allow for easy data transfer between the FE members portal (React) and our AWS RDS database. The final product allows Just In Case Estates members to create and manage their estate plans with ease.

We initially worked with a 3-person project team -- FE eng, BE eng, and project manager. Following the onboarding of an additional FE eng on our internal team, we condensed the PagePro project team down to working directly 1:1 with a senior full-stack engineer, who led the BE development and provided additional support to our FE engs.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We launched the production-ready version on-time and on-budget, with a massive increase in user satisfaction.

PagePro was very easy to communicate with. We managed the project in TeamWork, had regular standups via Zoom, and communicated on Slack for other miscellaneous questions and clarifications.

We had direct access to the PagePro team, which made communication very straightforward. We also were able to adjust the scope and committed team size to better fit with our growing internal team.

We have heard about the quality of Pagepro's services and their experience in mobile app development (especially regarding React Native).

We provided Pageopro with full access to the source code and made ourselves available to answer any questions. Pagepro revied the whole codebase, provided us with a comprehensive report outlining the recommendations, limitations and finindgs regarding the mobile applicatins.

A project manager was assigned to us. The work itself has been conducted by a Senior React developer, who had signinficant and impressive mobile experience.

We got a sense of clarity and full understanding of the solution and the next steps required to bring the application up to our standards.

I’m the founder of Just In Case Estates, a recently launched startup in the estate planning space in the US. We create last will testaments, living trusts, advance healthcare directives, and other legal documents of that nature.

We needed help with web development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pagepro has helped us build a website, and they’ve been instrumental in laying the groundwork for our new web application. We’ve also launched a CMS, into which they’ve coded various documents.

The web app uses a third-party system for the frontend. On it, users fill in their information, which then passes through the custom code developed by Pagepro to generate the legal documents.

What is the team composition?

We work with a small team at Pagepro led by Chris (CEO & CTO). The team includes two senior developers, one for the frontend and one for the backend, and a junior developer for the backend as well.

How did you come to work with Pagepro?

I found Pagepro through a Google search of development agencies specializing in React, and I invited them and a handful of other agencies to bid on my project. 

Through a series of conversations in the RFP stage, I got to know Pagepro well. Although some of the other agencies offered more economical pricing on their bids, I chose Pagepro because I was very impressed with the level of detail and thought they put into their proposal. It was clear that they had a solid understanding of what I needed and how to get there. 

Additionally, I instantly hit it off with Chris (CEO & CTO), Tatiana (Business Development Lead), and the Pagepro devs who supported their bid. I could tell that I would enjoy working with this team from a personal perspective over the coming months. 

Based on their tech capabilities, well conceived project plan, and personable team, engaging Pagepro was an easy decision, and I'm very happy with how our relationship has progressed.

Pagepro took us from a start-from-scratch to product launch. 

We conducted rigorous testing to validate the efficacy of the product that Pagepro built, and I’m very pleased with the results. Overall, we feel very good about their work.

How did Pagepro perform from a project management standpoint?

Pagepro’s project management is great; we’re very satisfied with them in that regard. Chris has acted as the project manager, and he and his team are very communicative. Whenever we face unanticipated challenges, we quickly discuss what needs to be done and how to resolve them.

We use Teamwork for the core of project management, and we leverage other collaboration tools. We communicate through Slack and Teamwork, and we have short 10-minute Zoom or Google Meet meetings twice a week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Apart from their technical skill and proficiency, which I really appreciate, Pagepro is very honest. Having a partner that we can trust and get to know has been critically important for us, especially since we’re working with a remote team. I trust them, and I’m very confident about their work, so I would highly recommend them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. We’ve faced some unexpected challenges that have pushed the timelines back a little bit, but I don’t attribute those to Pagepro. Those challenges are part of the nature of these engagements, and Pagepro has been very proactive in their resolution, so I’m satisfied with how they handle those situations.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My one piece of advice for potential customers is the common sense reminder to make sure that you have a solid understanding of the required resources and timeline for your project. 

Pagepro is not a 100+ person dev farm, and therefore you may find it difficult to spin up lots of additional resources if you misjudge the requirements and Pagepro doesn't immediately have the extra bandwidth to fill it.  

The "plus" side of Pagepro's smaller size is that -- even as a young, upstart company like Just In Case Estates -- you'll receive great attention and care on your project that you simply won't get at a larger firm. 

If you believe you've got a good handle on your requirements and Pagepro has the bandwidth to supply it, then absolutely go for it. I have no reservations recommending them, and have already done so to several other friends and contacts in my network.
