• Packetlabs delivered two thorough reports with the findings of the penetration test (both after the first test and after a subsequent retest). Included in the reports were detailed descriptions of the findings as well as recommendations for addressing them. Packetlabs also sent associated Executive Summaries for both reports and they worked closely with us to match our client's reporting needs.

I’m the director of information assurance at a licensing and compliance startup.

What challenge were you trying to address with Packetlabs Ltd.?

As a part of our information security program, we needed an external firm to conduct penetration testing against our services and generate a report of action items based on the test results.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the engagement with a kickoff meeting. Then, they assigned a tester to our project. Over the course of five business days, they administered the tests. After testing concluded, they delivered a report with their findings.

What is the team composition?

I worked with two members of their team.

How did you come to work with Packetlabs Ltd.?

We found 16 potential vendors when we conducted our initial Internet searches. We picked them over the others due to their short timeline and competitive pricing. Usually, this sort of testing takes six weeks or more, but we needed them to complete the tests within two and a half weeks.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent a little over $5,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together in June 2021. We’re looking to work with them again in the near future, but haven’t decided on anything specific yet.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The report they provided included six specific recommendations on how to mitigate security vulnerabilities. This information was incredibly useful.

How did Packetlabs Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

Because of the narrow scope and short timeframe of the project, there wasn’t much project management. However, they still communicated clearly and met all agreed-upon delivery milestones. We communicated via email and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was easy for me to recognize that they’re experts in their field. In our initial calls, they had insight into the technology involved in our platform and what testing would need to be done. This insight made them stand out early on in the vendor selection process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clearly define what you need to have done and when. They’ll do their best to meet the requirements you set forth, but you may have more difficulty if you keep your needs vague.
